Recommended by friends, went for a family meal, all 8 of us loved it and staff kept giving us extra dishes on the house! Would definitely go back!
All round excellent ... been many times before and food is remains top quality
The best Indian restaurant I have been to in years, it looks small from outside but once inside the seating area stretches round to the other side. Very busy which is a good sign. I was with my wife and my mum and we had the pre theatre menu. 2 courses for £9.95. We started with veg Pakora it was amazing, I had Indian chilli chicken, my wife had Korma and my mum Traditional Curry. All dishes were amazing so tasty. We had nann bread and rice and the waiter came over and gave us complimentary nan and spiced onions on the house. We cleared the lot and we will 110% be back soon, big portions, tasty food and friendly staff. Best Indian by far
Seating very cramped, could do with a spruce up.
Food & service excellent
Outstanding, as always. Delicious curry. The best service in Glasgow.
Been on a lot still fantastic , if not been would recommend one best in Glasgow city centre and great value for money
Tasteless curry, very bland, everything else good including service etc
Charcoals never lets us down, food is excellent, staff is excellent and very friendly,we always look forward to dining there
Arrived on time & shown straight to our table.
The service was very friendly & efficient with the food courses arriving very promptly.
Good quality and enjoyable.
Booking recommended as it gets busy.
Fantastic service, very friendly staff and personal touches that added to a great evening
Another fantastic meal at Charcoals. The staff are so attentive, the manager is exceptional at making sure everyone has what they need, it's like watching the conductor of an orchestra. Then the food, without doubt THE best Indian food I've had in the UK. All the awards they get are very well deserved and that's not taking into account all the social help they provide throughout the year. Amazing place, amazing food, amazing service.
Excellent food and service but we were unlucky enough to be on the next table from a group of men that were very noisy, drunk and shouting so we couldn’t hear ourselves think. But the food was oh so good!
Charcoals is surprisingly good. I say surprisingly because from the outside it looks like a mediocre indian takeaway but when you get inside the staff are warm.and welcoming, the service is amazing and the food is absolutely delicious! We have never been disappointed.
I’ve been to charcoals on many occasions and have never been disappointed from the food to the staff excellent as always.
Another great meal in Charcoals. Second time in the restaurant within a few weeks and the food and service as before was excellent.
Loved the masala pompadom and also got to sample some chicken wings on the house.
The variety of curries is good and the food is cooked perfectly.
Can’t wait until the next time we visit Glasgow and return to Charcoals.
Been going here for about 8 years and still my favourite Indian restaurant. Food and service always excellent. Ali and his team go out there way to make you feel welcome. Ali always gives you something extra to try, over and above what you order. If not on the menu , just ask. Recommend to anyone to try
Would recommend this restaurant, everything was delicious and will definitely be back 😀
our second visit, and we enjoyed it again .. lovely lunch menu at a good price.
We visited the restaurant on a Sunday evening. It was fairly quiet. The food and service were very good. A fine selection of options for starters and mains and also a good selection of reasonably priced wines. The food was very flavoursome. Would definitely recommend.
Food nice enough but not impressed at all with waiting staff. Shown to table then plate of poppadoms arrived with dips with no explanation- then 5 mins later waiter asked what we wanted to drink then another 5 mins later took food order and said oh I see you’ve already ordered poppafoms .... when I said no we hadn’t ordered they were just plonked down he said oh you don’t want them and went to lift them but we had already eaten some. Pure scam to get more on bill. At the end of the meal I did not get an itemised breakdown of bill. There was no nice ambience and we were just put almost at door so forever getting people just standing in front of table and an icy blast from door.
Not at all what I was expecting and certainly won’t be back nor would I recommend.
Have enjoyed Charcoals 2 years running for Lads curry after a day at Footy and pubs along the way, place is friendly and warm and inexpensive, lots of different dishes not seen on most Indian menus, fresh, tasty, spicy and quick as well, very good would defo recommend for a visit to anyone, will return again in Dec 2019, well done Charcoals and thanks again guys!!
We arrived on a busy Saturday teatime when it was evident many customers had been Christmas shopping. The restaurant was busy and noisy. Only to be expected however it didn't slow down the service one bit. We were quickly seated, (we had booked via Open Table beforehand) and given drinks and starters along with some complimentary side dishes. These were interesting and a nice touch. Our mains followed and I opted for the lamb madras. it was just how I wanted it, feisty and full of tender lamb pieces. Great flavours were helped down with some pilau rice and more complimentary naan bread pieces which again was a nice touch. My son had a chicken korma which is his usual for a Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice and creamy with a good amount of chicken in a tasty sauce. We helped things along with some fresh chapatis which were very soft and fresh and complimented the sauces very well. Excellent food and despite being busy I couldn't fault the service or the quality of the food. We will return with the family for another meal in the near future.
Great evening with friends from Aberdeen! Very generous meal too with nice wine. Excellent.
The positives I would give this restaurant are that the service is very good and location as well is very good .
however everything else was poor ,had to send back my beer as it was stale and the premises in general are very tatty and could do with a makeover,on the way to the toilet there was a chap praying on a mat ,food was ok nothing great,to be honest I wouldn't go back or recommend to any of my friends.
Excellent curries and good value for money but, nan breads don't meet the normal "West of Scotland" standard! Table service second to none but had to wait for booked table as resturant busy on a Saturday evening. Churn of customers and those without bookings being sent away. Ambiance busy and overall a pretty cramped space, not relaxed. Stairs to downstairs toilets are a killer for those of the dodgy knees club! Watch out for the step at the toilet door .. lethal for the unwary!
Very attentive. Great value and genuinely delicious and well balanced food. Received free side of chicken wings which only bolsters the enthusiasm. 5 stars regardless. Just great.
Never failed to get nothing but brilliant food.here. Service is very good, very cheerful staff and the manager Ali is fantastic.
Roll on our next trip to Glasgow so we can visit Charcoals again.
been going here for six years now and it is still the no1 indian in Glasgow food delicious ali and his staff great people great food great service cant ask for more than that
Excellent restaurant, fabulous food and the staff can’t do enough for you.
Amazing food and brilliant service. Couldn't recommend enough!
My son who is on min wage took me here for dinner on a Monday night. Was grest choice for pre-theatre at a reasoonable price if £9.95 for two courses. This was my choice. My son and girl friend selected from the main menu. We enjoyed our dinner. However to my horror the bill included £7.60 a 10% service charge was applied for 3 dinners? Anywhere else this charge usually applies to larger parties. So just be aware of this. Would like people to decide themselves what the leave as a tip as everyones finances are different.
Not been for a while, forgot how good everything is. Excellent food and service as always. Took friends for the first time and they couldn't believe how great the food and service was. Ali and his team are outstanding. The added extras are also a lovely touch. Highly recommend and will be back again soon.
Lovely meal fast service but disappointed with service charge applied for table of 8, never realised this was the case.
Great meal 🥘 First time in Charcoals, exceptional service.
Been to many Indian restaurants in Glasgow and this is the best by far!!
Food was great, good choice on the menu.
Will definitely return the next time we are in Glasgow.
Been here lots of times and it just keeps getting better like to try new dishes and they never disappoint Ali and staff are great cannot wait till we return the special dum bye Iain is brilliant never can finish it
The best curry in town with lovely waiting staff who don't mind changing the menu to accommodate individual tastes. Also, a nice touch was that we are sometimes given samples of other food to try for free.
Would definitely recommend.
Really friendly service. 10/10 for quality. Chef hands out samples between courses. Can't fault it. Will go again and again. Best in Glasgow!
Excellent food would recommend in a heartbeat. Small and friendly with a good atmosphere and value for money
Fantastic place. Been 4 times in the last couple of months. Food is incredible.
This is a fantastic restaurant, the food is outstanding and the service is exceptional!
