The setting was quirky and fun. The food was excellent. The service however was not. From sitting at our table to getting coffee and the bill took three hours. For two of us.
No cocktails or major drinks bill. Just starters main and desert. Shame as on the whole it was a great place
Fantastic experience with great quality met. Service was friendly, professional and prompt. After hearing many good things about The Crazy Bear I was glad to try it out for myself. Would highly recommend.
Difficult to find the car park due to lack of signage, also difficult to find the restaurant for same reason. Chairs was uncomfortable, table wobbly and not enough leg room so not great when Sat trying to enjoy 7 courses. Food and drink good quality
Not happy with asking 13.5% tip, the setting and service does not qualify asking for more than 12.5% tip
Improvements are needed, not rushing to return at all.
Service was very slow -,we heard there was a wedding function on - service not always accurate either so was a little disappointed on this occasion
service was good but I was not wowed by the choice of cakes, scones and sandwiches were good,
Amazing once again, always great service from all the staff in these challenging times and excellent food.
Lovely meal, lovely staff
Great food and location
This was the first visit to the Crazy Bear for my wife and I. Unfortunately it did not meet our expectations at all. We both decided to have the Signature menu which is supposed to be 7 courses of the best they have to offer. If what we received is fair representation of the quality of the rest of the menu then it is a real concern to anyone wishing to eat there. We did not finish our meal as, by the main course, we had become so disheartened at what we had received we chose to end our evening before dessert and a cheese course. Two of the dishes we had were, at best, mediocre and the mango sorbet was no better than what you could find in a supermarket. Ultimately the food experience we had was poor. The food portions were small but that is to be expected for a tasting style menu so we were at least able to eat all that had been presented to us. We made our complaint at the venue and our waiter graciously offered us each a free drink and a discount on our bill as recompense which was much appreciated. However, it would take a lot of persuading for us to visit the Crazy Bear again.
Such an impressive place. Highly recommend! Very memorable.
The food was absolutely amazing. Some of the best food we’ve had recently. Our waiter was also superb with faultless service but not overbearing
We love the crazy bear, and in 20 years never been disappointed!
we enjoyed a pleasant lunch next to the fishpond the grounds are well kept and with unusual features. The bar is pleasantly traditional plus of course the BEAR. tHE FARM SHOP TOO WAS WELL STOCKED AND PRESENTED.
fOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT FOLKS SHOULD TRY IT
Superb food but very slow service. To the point where a fight broke out between other diners! Lovely staff and setting. Just disappointing that the service time was so poor.
Worst afternoon for a lot of money
Email send to manager on the day and no reply
Will not be returning
Roast dinner was very poor. Starter and dessert lovely. Very disappointed.
We were initially put on a tiny wobbly table before asking to be moved.
Service wasn't bad but really wasn’t great. Not what I expect as we spent nearly £200 for 2 of us. When they asked if everything was ok we explained and they did apologise and give us a free drink. Also offered to cook a new main but we had already waited 1 hour for the first one so declined.
I have always had good food there in the past so would just not have the roast again.
Brilliant and would definitely return for more splendidness
It was ok. Fairly ok food. Slightly frustrating I couldn’t take my tuna Niçoise salad away. I would have been happy to accept liability if it made me sick. I wouldn’t say we were sat at the best table, definitely not as nice as usual. Cocktail again was ok. Usually better.
It’s really eclectic in a good way. Not another pub at all - large menu and excellent quality. Lots of couples of date nights, good number of people in for a Wednesday evening so a decent atmosphere. 4 ‘small’ plates is plenty for 2 person - 5 is overkill. Really fun place.
Car park took a little bit of finding round the back but lots of space.
After asking for a nice table when booking as it was our anniversary we were stuck in the corner with a table barely big enough to hold drinks and plates together. Stuck between 2 sets of doors so was freezing!
The wait of an hour between starters and mains was a joke
Food was okay, service was very slow. Nothing special
Super service, friendly, efficient, helpful when we needed explanations and flexible with seating. Outside seating area is beautifully furnished. Great choice of menu options. Expensive, but definitely quality and did not disappoint.
The staff were charming and polite, taking us to the table which was laid out perfectly. The wine menu was interesting and full of great wines at reasonable prices. The small plates menu was extensive and one of our party commented "I like the look of every plate on the menu!" The decor is Fabulous.
We called into the Farm Shop and bought two beautiful T Bone steaks.
We will come again!! Thank you.
Bearing in mind we went at lunchtime on a Friday during Covid- the restaurant seating was well spaced and sanitiser on the tables was good. The Restaurant though seemed a little tired. Perhaps some of the usual decor had been removed but I expected a much more decadent decor having been to Beaconsfield. The palms and outside seating looked inviting. Menu was good, we ate a selection of small plates but nothing was ‘OMG’ amazing tasting. Other than serving the food the waiting staff were not very observant, didn’t spot empty glasses for example. It was nice and ok but nothing to write home about.
The food was delicious but unfortunately the side dishes of vegetables accompanying our steaks arrived some 6 minutes after our entrees. We then had to ask for serving spoons which meant a further delay resulting in our meals being cold. A disappointing evening.
Amazing service and food, best date night
We arrived to see the spectacular bar area found our seat looking out and had a special meal with Prosecco.
A very delicious meal, but with some significant issues.
The location is great, and quirky. The staff were generally helpful, although a few occasions where polite requests (e.g. request with water), were met with a large sigh and an air of reluctance. However when the food arrived it was excellent and enjoyable.
My biggest issue, is that the booking via OpenTable suggested that there was a lunch set-menu for the English Restaurant. When this was asked for at the restaurant, were told this was not available. Again no apology about the information on the restaurants booking service being incorrect, and we were made to feel rude and cheap for asking. Accordingly although the food was excellent, was around £50-60 more expensive for the meal than we were expecting when we booked.
For me this was a real shame, as we've been before to Crazy Bear and had a great experience; not to mention a friends wedding a few years ago - which was magical.
Our feeling was that in a time, where going to restaurants has an added risk - I'm not sure Crazy Bear really has hit the mark. They can, and should do better.
Ambience in the garden area great, food was okay but for the price I did expect better quality of service .
Fantastic setting, felt as if abroad sitting outside in the sun with lovely French music. Food was delicious and staff were friendly. Perhaps a slight tweak is the halloumi; not real halloumi. Great farm shop as well, 2 mins walk up the road.
Arrived and ended up sitting in the bigger dining area due to COVID safety measures. This was lovely, nice atmosphere, comfortable seating and great service.
Food was lovely, however..... we were not aware that the Crazy Bear was not on the eat out to help out scheme. Sadly had I have know, I would have helped out another restaurant and come here on another night.
Great Glass Room set up and tables well set out. Room beautifully decorated and ambience lovely for an evening meal.
Lovely restaurant and atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Lovely location. Great meal and stay at this fantastic hotel and restaurant.
Waited over an hour from time we finished our starters to getting our mains served, even after chasing it with the waiter.
Stunning venue. Excellent food. Attentive service. Will be back.
Food was lovely and arrived in good time. The menu is rather large which is worrying but all our selections were fantastic.
Service was average and lacked polish considering the amount of money you are spending. They seemed inexperienced as a team with little leadership.
It's an enormous menu, which sometimes makes me nervous (how can everything be perfect when they've got so many options) ... but everything was pretty much perfect. Thye do put on a service charge, which I'm not a fan of (I generally give 10% ish if the servcie is good), but this is 13.5% which is as high as I've seen anywhere. When the bill came however there was a huge discount on it sayong Groupon, which reduced my bill from about £110 down to less then £40 - although tempting to just pay it, I pointed out that I didn't have a groupon voucher, but I think that's what goes on the bill, but it's actually becasue they somehow that I was staying there and had food included? Anyway I paid the full amount and was happy to do so - it's a really interesting and fine place to eat.
Lovely meal as usual .... weather played its part of course, was nice to chill out in the sun and get away from everything - felt like we were in a courtyard on the continent
Absolutely gorgeous meal in the most beautiful place!
The service was less than attentive and felt as a "care less". After giving the check, the staff did not care to come back despite trying to signal for some 10 minutes. In the end we took our cheque to the till to pay it and leave.
The restaurant was advertised to be participting in the govt. "Eat out Scheme" but did not honour it on the day, saying it was a listing in error. It did not even try to keep its word.
The management did not respond to the email query till now. One of the poorest customer experience.
