Set in Kansas City’s historic City Market, Brown and Loe Restaurant’s inviting atmosphere is a blend of “big city” bistro with the welcoming casual flavor of a neighborhood favorite. Housed in a former Merchant’s Bank constructed in 1920, the restaurant honors the architectural details of the two-story building which features a façade of plate glass and verde marble floors and walls. In the 1940’s, Brown and Loe was originally a produce broker with offices on the second floor of the Merchant’s Bank building. The new Brown and Loe Restaurant celebrates the techniques of curing, pickling and smoking meats, beautifully interpreted into marvelous American comfort cuisine. This is a true local venue, evidenced by the restaurant’s allegiance to the resident farmers and food artisans who supply most of the restaurant’s fresh ingredients. We are a unique French Bistro located in a vintage two story blue house. We have two outdoor pergolas with a firepit and scenic backyard, and a full bar inside. It is a charming, cozy, intimate location, and we cater to nice casual clients. We are located in Independence, MO on HWY 24 just west of the 291 intersection and just minutes from downtown and The Truman House and Library. Free parking is available. Handicap accessible. We serve brunch Tues-Sun from 10am-3 pm. We are closed on Mondays. We have take-out service for some items now during brunch hours or you can "Picnic on the Patio" outside. Our full-service bar, the Bleu Bar, is open during all open hours as well. Dinner is served Friday and Saturday nights now from 5-9pm. Reservations are required for dinner service. There is a dress code for dinner also. No shorts or jeans. Shirts are required. No flip flops. No smoking is allowed inside the restaurant. Finally, pets are not allowed inside the restaurant.
