The dome-shaped venue on the Hoe, aptly named The Dome, was designed by architect Tony Irish. The Dome was first opened in July 1988 as part of Mayflower commemorations in Plymouth and started life as a local museum and tourist information centre.Designed to have the Art Deco feel and opulence of a 1930s ocean liner, the venue’s bar will feature an extensive wine and gin list, a selection of cocktails plus a full range of beers, ciders and soft drinks.The restaurant’s menu will feature fresh, local and seasonal produce and will include fish sourced from local day boats.     Genuinely some of the best food I’ve had in ages—it completely blew me away. The kitchen has a massive focus on incredible local ingredients and fresh seafood, and it shows in every dish. The flavours were perfectly balanced and everything felt sophisticated without being pretentious. Unbelievably good.

    We had a really enjoyable meal at Dottie’s. The restaurant has a relaxed, stylish atmosphere and the service was warm, attentive and genuinely friendly throughout. The Devon calamari with cider tartare was fresh, crisp and full of flavour, while the cheddar and chive arancini were rich, comforting and perfectly cooked. The food was well presented and reasonably priced for the quality. It felt like a proper Exeter restaurant rather than a typical hotel dining room. We would happily return and recommend it to anyone looking for a good meal in the city centre.
