Applebee's is a family-run fish restaurant that has been an institution of Borough Market for over 25 years, a few steps from London Bridge station and Southwark Cathedral. We were a fishmonger here first, and we still buy like one: straight from the fishermen on the south coast, one of very few London restaurants that do, so fish landed at Brixham in the evening is on your plate the next day.The menu runs from Maldon rock oysters and hand dived scallops to dry-aged Dover sole and fish and chips, with a catch of the day that changes with whatever the boats bring in. The wine list leads with English producers alongside French classics. Our kitchen, currently led by Chef Tom Cenci, plays on British nostalgia and comfort, with dishes such as prawn toast and lobster cocktail, then carrot cake or Eton mess for pudding. Our space is buzzy, with an open kitchen at its centre and seats at the chef's counter to watch the show.Walk-ins are always welcome.
