Izakaya Jiro opened in September 2012 at 830 Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn. It remains a much-loved Japanese izakaya in Melbourne, offering authentic and traditional Japanese casual dining. Whether you need a relaxed dinner after work, a meal with friends, or a solo dinner near Swinburne University, this warm Japanese restaurant delivers good food, good drinks, and a genuine, unpretentious atmosphere. An izakaya is a typical Japanese tavern where people go relax. Diners order a variety of small, flavourful dishes to share, paired with alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks. At Izakaya Jiro, we embrace this tradition wholeheartedly. You can enjoy sake, umeshu, shochu, Japanese beer, or non-alcoholic options. Sit back, fill your stomach with a variety of dishes, and quench your thirst with whatever you feel like. There is no rush — only good food, easy conversation, and a welcoming space. Our team will always do our best to suit your needs. Come and experience a true taste of Japan in Hawthorn.
