Good and prompt service in very busy restaurant, courteous staff. Large portions, house wine was excellent
Haddock soufflé was delicious.
Pretty restaurant all candlelight.
Very noisy from bar.
Wonderful atmosphere & my 90 year old Godmother loved the menu, service & genuine good old fashioned service. A true gem and hopefully will remain so for years to come.
Just before Christmas so very busy but a great atmosphere and the staff are really lovely though obviously working very hard. We had a nice evening and would recommend.
Have used this restaurant on many occasions in the past but this time the menu was very limited & I was quite ill next day, as was one of my colleagues. Shame, because past experiences were always great!! I would try again based on previous visits
The service was patchy while we were having lunch , we had to remind the waiters we needed attention at some points. My soup first course was luke warm. I expect it didn't help that its poured out of a pot into a cold bowl at the table. I am guessing its already been poured out of a much larger pot in the kitchen into the pot thats used for the presenetation. I wonder if the smaller pot is cold too. What was most aggravating though was that having had to leave my guests for a meeting, I returned to meet up with two of my guests again, at the same table, asked the maitre de for a drink and he said "no we have to set up for dinner". The restuarant was empty and there was no offer of alternative seating. So we left and had a drink elsewhere.
We really enjoyed our meal and the service.
Only criticism is you get kicked off the table after 2.5 hours but after entree, main and desert this feels a bit rushed.
Staff very friendly , and service good but not excellent, would have appreciated water being topped up without us having to ask etc
Food delicious with great selection and value from the set pre-theatre menu. I had pumpkin soup and cheeseburger- totally delicious. The service was perfect and attentive but not overbearing and it’s a fantastic location in London with a good atmosphere.
Lovely building, the staff were attentive and friendly and the food was delicious. I would definitely go again!
Great ambience in the restaurant, buzzy at 5pm.
Food was delicious & service excellent. Would recommend
This is my “go to” afternoon tea experience when I am in London. I’ve done all the top places for afternoon tea, and while you can get a more high brow experience at the famous hotels, the experience, food, and value of Deans just can’t be matched for 1/3 to 1/4 of the price. Highly recommended.
Siamo stati nel locale per l'afternoom tea. Servizo ottimo, locale molto curato e ottima l'atmosfera anche se forse un pochino caotica. Consigliato prenotare. Prezzi giusti per la location
Thank you for seating us at a round table near window away from a very loud main restaurant. Important for us older customers. Food gorgeous as ever. I would like to eat your haddock soufflé at least once a week. Staff charming.
We had a nice time, but had to return 2 main courses, both hamburgers as they were tough and tasteless. they were removed from the bill, but it was a pity they were below the standard we had hoped for.
Interesting menu, delicious food, cosy yet upmarket ambiance. Would recommend!
The DSTH used to be a regular breakfast treat - attentive service, amazing kedgeree, great coffee & just beautifully decadent. We haven’t been for years but it was our first choice when we had a rare morning off work. I’m really sorry to say that we were utterly underwhelmed. Although the food was great, it wasn’t hot, and the service was not what we had come to expect. Slow & lacking the DSTH style we have so loved in the past. It was a very busy breakfast - maybe they were short staffed, but if so letting us know would have gone far in increasing our enjoyment. Get your eye back on the ball & be great again team!
Sunday lunch with friends. Second time and didn’t disappoint. Food and service was excellent. Very busy so a little noisy but this appears to be the way in most restaurants these days. Would definitely book again and our friends who had not been before really enjoyed the food etc.
Very good and a very enjoyable evening. It would have been even better if the staff were a little more attentive.
The food came out cold - both meals. My mum asked for her steak medium rare and it came out still mooing. Though the staff were very friendly, the service was incredibly slow
Our pre theatre meal was great value and very tasty. Service couldn’t have been better. It was a super evening
Bit noisy but excellent on all levels. Food delicious and service exemplary
Brilliant service and atmosphere! Would recommend for a pre-theatre menu.
Negative - Drinks were overpriced. Food average.
Positive - Great ambience. Good service. Friendly staff. Liked the idea of returning after the theatre to have dessert.
Really buzzy but never felt loud, or like you had to shout. A lovely atmosphere and the best hollandaise sauce I've ever had!
Lovely buzzy place. Friendly service. Food always good. Staff on this visit was exceptionally wonderful and very accommodating given the short time we had to dine prior to heading out to the theatre. Centrally located, highly recommended.
Great food and drinks and friendly service. We certainly enjoyed ourselves
Great venue, lovely food, it was very busy and our table was very near the bar and it was quite hectic. Would
Love to go again when it’s quieter
We ate from the pre-theatre menu which offered a good range of choices. I had the steak tartare to start which was very good, with a generous portion. Service was good and attentive. My only downside was the place was very busy so it was rather noisy.
Lovely food and ambience, buzzy and loud
Excellent, perfect for informal business meetings.
Dear Street Townhouse reliably delivers high quality food and excellent service in a wonderfully relaxed and charming environment.
Very friendly maître d’, accommodating staff, well-times courses and delicious food.
Great food and v good service. Will definitely go back
Wine was a bit dear but food very reasonable. Good service and great atmosphere
Consistently great food with friendly staff. The portion sizes could be a touch bigger and the price of wine a little cheaper but overall a good experience. Nice bathrooms too!
Exceptional for late Sunday lunch. One of the best roast beef meals I have had .
Perhaps slightly more choice for desserts
The food was absolutely perfect but we were placed between two large tables with very noisy parties going on. I would not say the noise level was energetic. It was so noisy that we could not speak to one another. Too bad because it could have been a lovely afternoon.
The food and tea were great, and the atmosphere was fun. We ordered the Grand Marnier drinks, which were both delicious. We did not know we'd be doing afternoon tea in the mix of a large restaurant that ended up getting quite busy and loud, but it is what it is and was certainly a unique and enjoyable experience worth doing again.
The service was good until we were ready for the bill. We attempted to get the attention of our server for over 30 minutes, but she walked by multiple times without even looking in our direction. After about 30 minutes, a host came over and asked for us to pay our bill so we could free up the table for other customers. We told her that we had tried to get our server's attention for over 30 minutes, but she did not seem to acknowledge the issue nor apologize. We would have happily given up our table sooner since the restaurant was full by the time we were done our experience.
