Carlton Wine Room is a neighbourhood restaurant offering a well-executed, fresh, seasonal food menu, and an ever changing, diverse wine list featuring the best of Italy, Australia and the rest of the World. We offer a bar space, an upstairs restaurant dining room and three unique spaces that are can be booked for private dining perfect for special events.RESERVATIONS: are for a two hour sitting. We do not accept bookings for drinks and snacks, however we accept walk-ins for this if space permits. A surcharge of up to 1.2% applies to credit card transactions. A surcharge of 10% applies on Sundays and 15% on Public Holidays. OUTSIDE SEATING: please note this is subject to the weather and we may not be able to move your reservation inside in the case of bad weather. An Italian restaurant hidden in the bluestone basement of the State Library of Victoria, beneath the Wheeler Centre. Since 2011, owners Paul and Rosie have served handmade pasta, our signature Thousand Layer Lasagne (beef shin ragù, hot three-cheese mousse) and classic tiramisù, with a wine list that leans Italian and Victorian. People love the service, the ambience and the offerings. Lunch Wed–Fri with a $20 pasta special, Gnocchi Night every Wednesday, happy hour Tue–Sat 4–6pm.     Fantastic night from start to finish. Service was perfect - relaxed yet efficient. Our waiter paired our wines with our daily menu meal. The snapper in butter sauce with pippis was a highlight, as was the scallop tostada. Cant wait to return.

    I took my wife to Olivine for her birthday. It was outstanding. We had a perfect little booth that was private and comfortable. Our wine waiter ‘Seb’ was excellent in both service and knowledge as well as pleasant in manner. The food for us was absolutely 5 star. We both had a magnificent time with something different for our special occasion.
