West Malling, widely considered the gastro-capital of the Maidstone area, offers a wide range of restaurants and Pad Thai is it’s finest South East Asian offering, tempting in diners from across the South East. One of the reasons could be the combination of olde worlde Tudor building and traditionally inviting Thai inspired décor, another could be the warm welcome and excellent service but undoubtedly the main draw would be the unsurpassed food. Created by a team with a history serving the Thai Royal family, the traditional dishes are authentic and delicious, made with excellent, fresh ingredients.

Bowleys is far from your average countryside pub restaurant. Tucked along a quiet lane in a quintessential English village, The Plough was once destined to be sold to developers — until 120 members of the community came together to invest in and save their local. Following its restoration, the Yates family took over the kitchen and launched Bowleys, transforming the intimate 26-cover space into an award-winning, Michelin Guide-recognised restaurant and 360 Guide Top 20 Restaurant in the UK.Led by Head Chef Alex Yates and General Manager Grace Yates, Bowleys champions local, sustainable dining rooted in seasonality and provenance. Just 300 metres away lies The Nursery, their own kitchen garden supplying daily-picked vegetables, herbs and edible flowers — the heart of its field-to-fork ethos. Alex’s Michelin training at The Goring Hotel and Grace’s warm hospitality define its refined yet welcoming experience.
