Built circa 1820 as a grist mill, The Old Mill Inn is a newly-renovated historic, waterfront, adults-only (18 years+) bar and restaurant on Mattituck Creek, located on the North Fork of Long Island. It serves classic American fare with a fresh local twist such as fish & chips, crispy squid, oysters, cheese burgers, and seasonal local vegetables.The past and the present collide inside the historic bar room (serving seasonal craft cocktails, wine and beer-on-tap) where the mill's original gear shaft stands among the wooden ceiling beams signed by past patrons, dating back to the late 1800s. The new owner received the award for Historical Renovation of the Year from the Long Island Preservation Society in 2024.

The grand residence at the base of Mattituck Inlet christened Windamere in 1890, opened its doors to summer guests at the dawn of the twentieth century as the North Fork became a sought-after destination for city dwellers. Visitors were in for a treat at the lofty rate of $7 per week. The property boasted a dance hall with a piano, a tennis court, a bowling alley, and a fine dock built for excursions. The lush and bountiful grounds were graced by a gentle wind flowing down the creek, and magnificent sunsets were presented nightly over the inlet. Windamere was known for delightful entertainment for guests and neighboring yacht clubs, most notably a 500-person singing society arriving by train for a midsummer performance on the great lawn.

    We sat out on the back Deck and the view was so nice. Our server was the best ! we went to Wednesday night prime rib night and it couldn't have been better ! Highly recommend the restaurant and the Hugo Sprtiz!

    Amazing experience from start to finish. Location was beautiful being right on the water. Food exceeded my expectations. Definitely on the higher side but when it tastes good who cares. Tuna tartar and oysters were phenomenal. Appetizers were nice sizes and so were entrees. Best linguine and clams I’ve ever had! Can’t wait to go back!

    Went for the Thursday Night Lobster and was not disappointed. Ordered the Seared Scallop Risotto as well, made with sweet corn and blistered cherry tomatoes brought this dish to a whole new level. In season make reservation or you will be waiting.

    The Windamere is a beautiful venue located on the water in a marina. The restaurant itself is beautifully done. We sat outside where there was a nice breeze and umbrellas over every table. Three of us had the lobster roll special for $19.95 which was excellent! We also ordered sides of French fries (the best I’ve had in a long time!) and Cole slaw, also delish! The 4th person got the beet salad which was huge and she said was yummy. Service was excellent! We will definitely be back!
