   Enrique and the team of Jose’s were amazing. We visited for my mother’s birthday brunch and they made her feel special the entire time. The food was delicious and served in a timely manner. The waitstaff were helpful in sharing the history and unique preparation of the food, juice and drinks. Grateful for the entire experience. Our favorites included the crab lump quiche, salmon bagels and the breakfast potatoes. The quiche was not eggy, but creamy surrounded by a delicate crust. The salmon was generous and not overwhelmed by cream cheese. The caviar was a welcome alternative to capers, maintaining the brine without dominating the smoked salmon. The breakfast potatoes were absolutely the perfect pair to the quiche and all of the dishes we ate, including the braised beef cheeks. We revisited the grill in the afternoon to try their signature cocktails. The barrel-aged drinks were the perfect way to relax into the evening. As the menu and drinks change seasonally, we are excited to return!

    The gorgeous and historic US Grant Hotel and Grant Grill are a hidden gem in SD! Very close to the Gaslamp Quarter, if you are brave enough to dodge the very sketchy downtown street inhabitants. Honestly, the politics that have ruined these cities is beyond sad! But we pay our taxes and wanted to give this grand place a try - totally worth it! The service was superb, such wonderful people. Gracious, elegant service and the food was amazing! It’s not a snobby place but they treat you like you are special! Brunch was fantastic (incredible omelet and potatoes and great coffee). A must try!

    Once we found out how to get in to the iconic and gorgeous hotel, life and dining was very good. We love learning about the place of dining as well as having wonderful food so Sergio was delightful on telling us some history of the U.S. Grant hotel as well as explain the menu items. High West Manhattan made to perfection!! Shared a citrus avocado salad which not only looked great but so flavorful and delicious. The beets with the fresh citrus and arugula with the lemon oil dressing made a great salad. The wild boar entree was tender and the pork belly a real treat along with risotto and mushrooms. The spiny lobster entree was good...the scallops divine but the lobster was a bit dry. Braised fennel and the chorizo arancini complemented the entree. We had absolutely no room for dessert but would have tried one or two. We look forward to dining there again when visiting the San Diego area. All staff so friendly!!

    Very decadent restaurant and service. Our waiter, Sergio, provided a lot of information about the various dishes and how they are prepared. My wife was in between a couple of wines and Sergio provided a wine tasting to help her make a decision. The food was incredible, with quality (and service) on par with Michelin rated restaurants we’ve visited in the past. We would definitely dine here again.

    The Grant Grill is my favorite restaurant in San Diego. Food is a foodie's delight and service is attentive and not smothering. The wine list is priced well and has a variety to choose from. The desert and cocktails ate very good as well. We always enjoy the service and food at the Grant. Kudos to the chef.

    Read this very honest and constructive criticism review. I have never been more fully disappointed with a fine dining experience. We spent $500 there and had horrible service. We have dined at food trucks to 3 star Michelin restaurants and everywhere in Between. This Service was negligent … waiting 20+ min for wine and food orders is unfathomable. Sergio, our waiter, was insulting on numerous occasions…. When we asked to see dessert, he commented twice about “drinking our dessert” … with a $115 bottle of Caravan (we got two bottles). He seemed attentive to his other tables, but for some reason we were ignored for long lapses. We are good restaurant patrons, but we were both angry and disappointed with our experience at the Grant Grill. Will stay the hotel, but will never eat at the restaurant again, nor recommend it to friends/family.

    Dinner before theatre at the Grant Grill was excellent! Our waitress Jasmine was outstanding. She was very attentive, gracious and professional. She made our evening that much more special. The citrus avocado salad was presented beautifully and so flavorful. The swordfish was perfectly prepared albeit quite small portions. I love the accompaniments, the grilled cauliflower was beautiful and so tasty as were the mushrooms and potatoes.

    Dinner before the Theater. Excellent service, very good food. Menu does not present a large selection of entrées, but our choices were very good. Make sure you order the Mock Turtle soup. The room is superior, and lively. Have been here many times and will continue.

    Our server, Samuel was overwhelmed but still shined. He was the only one serving and mentioned that the three others called off that evening. Food was good and atmosphere was as well. My only complaint which ultimately has nothing to do with the restaurant or the hotel is that we almost stepped on a human excrement outside on the sidewalk near the hotel. Good job San Diego government. This is what happens when liberals are in charge.

    Overall, great ambience, waitstaffs and food, but no one comes around to pour wine into our glasses when empty. I had duck breast and the outer side (skin side) was too salty. I should have ordered medium for the duck instead of median rare (usually that how I order my steaks) and the inside was more rare than I liked. Everything else was great.

    This was a Christmas Eve celebration with my daughter and her boyfriend. I have just lost my husband and they were trying to get me out to dinner. First of all no one was at the host desk when we arrived. Secondly, we asked for a booth and they denied us third, I asked for a code check and they said just put it over the other chair fourth. Overall service was not good menu was not that exciting and unfortunately I don’t think we will return. Upon leaving no one said goodbye thank you or merry Christmas

    My husband and I had a fabulous meal here, from the amuse bouche to the desert. For an appetizer, we had the ricotta gnocchi, which was delicious. My husband had the spiny lobster and scallops for his main, while I had the duck. The duck was cooked exactly as I asked for and was great, but I will order the spiny lobster and scallops the next time I go because it was truly superb. Due to allergies, there wasn't a desert that both of us could eat, but our waiter suggested that they just make us a bowl of butter pecan ice cream. I should also mention that the waiter was very accommodating about choosing wine and we had tastes of two before making our decision. We were surprised by how generous a pour it was, given the cost. We don't live in San Diego and wish that we had this good a restaurant closer to us.

    What a great experience. Beautiful restaurant full of history, the meal was very good! Everything was prepared and executed perfectly.
