   The food was absolutely superb. It's a very attractive spot that does feel more like you are in someone's well appointed home than a cookie cutter restaurant. The service is both incredible and poor. Steps of service are there when food is presented/cleared, but we never saw our actual server between ordering and the check being dropped. Fortunately we were low maintenance and ok overall but we would have liked to have ordered more wine.

   Disappointing. A mistake. We love eating outside in Austin. We had to try this place. We made a reservation three weeks in advance. Wow, it had so many good reviews. Disappointing. Let’s start with the good. The place is really nice, cozy. Good ambience, not noisy. Nice enjoyable art on the walls (few restaurants do that!). Service was very good. Parking was easy. Now let’s move to the food. The hushpuppies were burned, flavorless and dry. Have the ones at Long John’s Silver instead. As main entrée I ordered the duck and my wife ordered the lamb. The duck was too salty and with little flavor. The lamb was ok. The lamb and the side muffin would be the only things I’d recommend if you have to go to this restaurant. We finished our food and prefer not to try the desserts. Let me mention the wine. We ordered a bottle of Nicolaus Reau 2018. They brought a year 2021 instead, without mentioning it. That was deceiving, we got no apology. Anyways. About pricing. The problem with Olamaie is not price. The problem is that there’s a gap between their food quality and their prices. In summary, the place and the personnel are very good, but the owner should just be fair to their staff and transfer the place to someone who can do a better job at the kitchen.

   Everything was outstanding! Except the desserts were just okay - wish there were more choices & a choice that was a little more traditional. The corn sorbet was pretty bad. :/ Service & every other dish was incredible.

    Food and cocktails were exceptional. Bartenders knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. Cheesy grits were too cheesy and too salty, but still tasty - otherwise the review would be 5 stars since the remainder of food was top tier for southern style eating in Austin.

    Outstanding food and service. Very attentive and friendly staff. Very welcoming. We were encouraged to share so we shared the crudo of yellowfin tuna which was delicious and briny, the salad with beef fat which was a little bit boring, we each had delicious biscuits which were crispy outside and tender within, and a wonderful duck dish with cornbread stuffing and gravy. We probably should have ordered one more appetizer. For dessert I had the sweet potato cheese flan with marshmallow and pepper, and my husband had the sophisticated hot fife sundae. All of the dishes were complex with interesting flavors. The only negative was that the restaurant was very cold. When I asked they raised the temperature for about 5 minutes but the. Turned it down again. It’s harder to enjoy a lovely meal when you’re shivering.

    What a lovely evening—from the welcome we got to help my husband find the accessible ramp, to the fabulous entrees (highly recommend the beef tartare!) to entrees to desert. Service was splendid—timing perfect. We went for a birthday celebration, and we’d go back in a heartbeat.

    Pros: Food was amazing, as always. Staff was exceedingly friendly. Cons (well, minor quibbles): on this visit it took a bit longer (25-30mins) than usual to get the 1st course plates out, and so many people in such a small venue makes it difficult to hear your companion(s).

    After everything I had heard and reviews that were read, we expected to be wowed. Nothing wowed us. The Lima beans were tasty but salty. The beef belly was a bit dry and burnt. The duck breast was cooked well but cold when it arrived. The best part of the meal was the stuffing that came with the duck and the biscuits we ordered. Sadly, this was quite a disappointment and I wonder if we caught an off night?

    Dined at the bar & service was great, cocktails were great. Menu was amazing but execution was average. Fish was over cooked & every dish was overly salted. Tuesday night isn’t usually the A team in the kitchen, but expected better. Will return though for another experience.

    It was an excellent experience. Their menus is small which I prefer. Everything on the menu is excellent. The pork chop is definitely for two people. The beef belly and smoked cabbage are both wonderful. No matter what you have add a buttermilk biscuit to the order. The services is incredible. They have an impressive employment model that provides healthcare and paid time off for their employees. I also recommend the Old Fashion with Balcones Rye.

    The smoked cabbage and butter beans were superb!! Here it is the day after and I truly wish I had a plate full of both!! Entree of duck and fish were good, but honestly I would have been perfectly satisfied with the veggies!! Traveling through the South one summer (especially Charleston) I have perfected the art of making a wonderful buttermilk biscuit and yours were extra good, but not quite as fabulous as mine, or so says the men of my family! The Carolina Gold rice was so sweet and creamy you could have poured it down my throat and I would have been happy. The final course of a grapefruit brulee type dessert was, again.....superb! Light, elegant and extra marvelous!!

    We started with the hush-puppies and pork belly, and shared the shrimp over red rice and a biscuit for our main entree. Every dish was more delicious than the last. We regretted getting the hush puppies and the biscuit (lots of carbs, but so dang delicious), wishing we had ordered the roasted cabbage because it looked absolutely phenomenal. I dont think there was a single menu item that we wouldn’t have eaten- definitely coming back on an empty stomach so we can try more of this incredible menu. 100000/10 would recommend for a date night.
