Restauranteur Shawn Virene put the POP into Houston with his wildly successful a’Bouzy. This champagne-fueled spot located in the tony River Oaks neighborhood of town attracts a stylish crowd all day. The bar is always bustling and the patio echoes with the cry – “a Bouzy!” every time a bottle is sabered tableside. Slow Monday evening, nice dinner with a friend - red wine recommendation was fab - one bottle for a relaxed evening. Food was excellent as always. Deviled eggs always a yummy choice. Service was very good too. a'Bouzy is a favorite - I am a repeat customer when I can!

This was my first time coming to this restaurant. I heard good things about it and I see it very packed almost every weekend whenever I pass by here. However, for a place that emits an “upscale boujee” restaurant in the middle of River Oaks, I was left with a very disappointing taste. First, our reservation was for 12:45 for 3 people. When we arrived, the hostess mentioned that outside options were immediately available but inside had a wait that initially was for “30-45 minutes”. We did not get to our table until roughly 2pm and didn’t leave the restaurant until almost a little after 3. I was irritated by the fact that I made a reservation but still had to wait for a table to open up as if we were just walk-ins for that day. When we got to our table, I can tell the server was highly overwhelmed with the amount of people he had to tend to. However, the “truffle popcorn” that was advertised while we waited on our appetizer was nothing more than what tasted like store bought popcorn. Speaking of appetizers, when our waiter came back to check on us, he mentioned if we needed anything else before ordering and we mentioned that we placed an order for the Cajun Popcorn Shrimp. He then stated that he forgot to put it in and apologized and sent that to the kitchen, along with our entree orders. Outside of this, the food was fresh tasting and well prepared, but one of our guests did drop a utensil and when we requested a new one from the waiter, he never brought a new one to our table. Overall, the food and drinks were good but the service and waiting for a reservation left us with a disappointed feeling for a restaurant we had high expectations for.

Admittedly overbooked waited for 30 minutes with a reservation, another 30 before anyone took a drink order or brought us water. Manager was very helpful but probably won’t be going back anytime soon.

The drinks were absolutely amazing and everyone in my party loved their food. The stuffed salmon and the shrimp breakfast tacos were standouts. The drinks were a plus and the blueberry muffins were unforgettable, especially the butter that comes with them. Our server was a bartender who is having her birthday serving on the floor. She was pretty tame and quiet and could not explain the food very much because of her personal preferences but everyone else around us including all the managers kept checking on our table and they were fantastic.

First time here and was very pleased. Valet is $6 and you have to pay before entering the restaurant. They take cash/credit. We made reservations for two and were seated immediately after checking in. We chose to sit on the patio. The inside ambiance and decor was very cute and sophisticated. Within a minute of being seated our waiter greeted us and began to provide phenomenal service. He made great recommendations and the food came out within a timely manner. For drinks we ordered a coffee $6 and a French 75. A bottle of water and popcorn were also served as we waited for our food. As an appetizer we had the blue crab fingers $25 which were delicious and full of flavor. We asked for extra bread and were charged $1 for two slices. Our waiter suggested us try the French bread, but did not disclose the price. We received two French loaves of bread for a charged of $5. I had the 18hr Braised Pork Belly & Eggs $24 and my friend had the eggs Benedict $15. Both dishes were great especially the pork belly. Our bill was $92.42. We thoroughly enjoyed the service, food, and atmosphere. We cannot wait to go back and try other menu items 10/10.

Great experience with awesome food. I tasted several dishes and they all were very tasty. Our server 'Uzy' was the BEST! He was fun, engaging and knowledgeable and his service was top notch. We never had to look for him. It did take a bit longer than it should have to get a server. But once we did the service level exceeded expectations.

Our server Trent was wonderful! The food was delicious, and I loved the wide variety of choices available on the brunch menu. The acoustics make it very loud, so it was a little bit hard to hear, but everyone was having fun and no one seemed to mind.

Tuna watermelon sashimi was delicious, flavors complemented each other. I had the stuffed Alaskan salmon was good, definitely needed more flavor give it a 7/10. The best part were the donuts, my goodness so fresh and delicious; light yet with the perfect amount of sweetness. I will definitely be back to try the seafood pot pie. 🙂

Had a girls birthday brunch here! I love that valet is on site. It was easy to get a reservation and we were sat immediately. We opted for the patio so it was much more quiet than it is inside, however the staff was extremely tentative. Oliver was absolutely amazing; he had the staff come out for a birthday cheers and popped a bottle of champagne. Alfredo was SO sweet and took group photos of us girls. The food was great! We had quite a variety of appetizers and main courses, everything was good.

The restaurant was amazing as always. We came on Monday for "Brunch" and there were plenty of items to choose from. My French 75 was delicious and had me sitting pretty and mellowed out. The only downside was that the toilets didn't flush in the women's bathroom.

First time visit with friends for Sunday brunch. The place was very busy and it seemed that the service staff was a tad overwhelmed. No silverware or napkins at the table, it took three requests to finally get them while some food was already served. Our request for bread resulted in a similar experience. Nonetheless the food was really great and worth a return. We shared the tuna and salmon tartare (great), the mussels (the broth was fantastic), the octopus (good but not great) and the devils eggs (four on a platter which were great). We are already looking forward to our next experience.

Drinks were good and nicely priced. Food was just okay. The trout was super bland and not really enjoyable. Potatoes and green beans tasted nice but were too greasy. I took half of the meal home but have no desire to eat it. My husband was very sick for the rest of the night and next day after eating at a'Bouzy. He had the special, a white fish starter and his entree was the salmon. Not a great first impression, especially for the prices. Service was okay. Our server was nice but we had another table's drinks brought to our table and the food runner seemed confused on where our food should go. Definitely won't go back for the food. Might go have drinks again though since those were the highlight of our visit.

I had not been to the new location, but as expected, Shawn created a stunning environment and his excellent staff delivered superior service. We had a long dinner with old friends we had not seen in years, and we feasted our way through the menu. Thank you Shawn and team for an epic time with our friends! Looking forward to my next meal when I'm back in Houston in October!

Always consistent - I was an hour early for my reservation was told we would be seated soon after the larger parties were sat. Had to ask after a wait what was it looking like was told it would be original reservation time. Which was fine she should have just told us that …we ate in the bar which was very nice
