Akai Hana is a Japanese restaurant that opened back in 1986 with only 40 seats. Today, the restaurant has gained enough popularity that it has gone through multiple renovations and now has a brand new dining room that seats 130 guests. The dining room is elegant and comfortable with a warm atmosphere. Akai uses lots of wood tones in its decoration from trees native to Japan. While Akai Hana offers all types of Japanese cuisine, the restaurant is best known for its sushi. The professionally trained sushi chefs create incredible platters every day. All of the fish used in the Akai Hana menu uses fish that has been imported straight from Japan. The presentation is just as important as the food itself, and even the lunch bento boxes are served with beautifully lacquered black boxes with intricate floral designs on the sides.

Always good to great! We've been dining here for years and the food is very good. They serve both Japanese and Korean food. The sushi is some of the best in town, but remember we are in Ohio! The ambiance is nicer than competitors. They can accommodate larger groups and accept reservations.

I arrived with a party of 9 at 5:00 pm. After about 20 minutes we had just received our drinks and management asked us to move to another table to accommodate another party with greater privacy needs, which was a hassle. We did not receive entrees for 75 minutes, and it took another 15 minutes to deliver the last entree. 90 minutes to get an entree. By that time our group needed to leave, so the late entree was not eaten. It took another 15 minutes to pay the bill. There were no apologies, no offers of discounts other than they removed the one entree we didn't eat, but that was only because we demanded it be removed. There was a total lack of acknowledgement that the service was exceptionally slow. The party we moved for didn't arrive until 6:30. If they had delivered the food in a reasonable time frame, it would not have been an issue for us to have remained at our original table. It was an incredibly annoying and frustrating dining experience. The management should be ashamed of themselves. If you want to be in the hospitality business, you should act like it and treat your paying customers as guests, not as a nuisance to be ignored and dealt with only when required.
