Sourcing and showcasing local and seasonal produce are the primary focus of the Kitchen team at the Allanton Inn. The Borders is rich in a wide variety of produce from local land and waters, and we are proud of our connections with local farmers where quality is allied to best farming practices.

Such a lovely dinner! The focus on locally sourced food translates into the quality of the meals. The ambiance and the service were equally matched.

Haven’t been here for quite some time but wasn’t disappointed. Extended family for a birthday meal - good was great with plenty of variety (even for a small human). Staff / service was similarly impressive.

We have visited the Allanton Inn numerous times and have always had great food and service. Our last visit was no exception to that, the meal was great, the service friendly and attentive without being intrusive. However the choice and volume of background music was bizarre. Given the average age of the clientele was over 60, there was hip hop/rap music playing. Which at one point was turned up! We can only assume that the music was there for the benefit of the staff (who fit the age range) rather than the customers. It won’t stop us going back but it did make it a less completely pleasurable visit.

Took my mum out for lunch and it was delicious. Staff were helpful, friendly and very patient. Mum wanted to wait a bit before her dessert and it was no problem. Thank you, we will be back

If you want a restaurant championing local food this is the place to go. Quite apart from this, our meal was excellent, beautifully presented, tasty and just the right amount with great service.

Great place, professional service. Served quickly and efficiently, Fabulous and varied offering on the menu. My friend has beer.battered fish chips and peas. Enormous fish and great quality. I had the soft chicken breast with mushroom sauce on a bed of kale and parsley. We both had deserts that were sublime. Other
