Bayan Ko Diner is the second restaurant opened by husband & wife team Chef Lawrence Letrero & Raquel Quadreny. Located just a few steps from their first spot in the heart of Ravenswood, Chicago. Their Diner concept also features a menu with Filipino & Cuban Cuisine such as their Silogs: Traditional Filipino Breakfast, and their critically acclaimed Cubano Sandwich.

The modern diner is cozy, inviting & family friendly. Their beverage program includes a full bar with a variety of cocktails, wine, beer, & N.A. options inspired by Filipino & Cuban ingredients.

Bayan Ko Diner offers brunch from 9am-3pm and then switches to their shared plates dinner menu in the evening from 5pm-10pm. Join them for happy hour every weekday evening from 5-6pm! Walk-ins are always welcome!

Banyan Ko Diner nails it on consistently slinging creative and wildly flavorful food, blurring the line between Filipino and Cuban cuisine in the most effective way. Brunch is where it's at! (admittedly I need to try dinner) I've been on the weekend and felt the crazy rush, but loved our quiet afternoon birthday celebration on Tuesday. Chris provided the perfect balance of attentive but inobtrusive service, and was eager to share opinions and offerings with us. If only we could call for the staff schedule and ensure we always get Chris.

Honestly, it was such a perfect fusion of Filipino and Cuban food, and it was all delicious. It was a Sunday evening, and the place was packed, and there was only one server. That happens, and obviously you can't fault the server for the service not being faster or more attentive, but she did an amazing job of juggling everything. I would 100% return and am excited to try some new dishes and enjoy some again!

Fabulous food. Huge portions and available half and full size. Crispy pork belly, fried rice, egg rolls all stellar. And garlic rice delicious.

Their service was terrible. I ordered a cup of coffee and asked for cream on the side. When the server brought the coffee without cream and I reminded her she looked at me blankly and then vaguely said ok but never brought the cream. Finally I had to ask another server and my coffee was cold by then. They brought out the appetizer for our group to share (a dip) and never brought plates and nobody was around to help us for a long time - to the point that one of us had to get up and ask for some at the bar. The food took a long time to come out and some of it came out a long time before the rest of us got our food. Nobody was wowed by any of the food - most of it was just ok. And the pancakes were AWFUL. They tasted sour, like the buttermilk that had been used in them had gone bad or something. We couldn't get the taste out of our mouths all day! They did comp us for that after we told them but it really left a bad taste in our mouths - literally and figuratively! The place is super cute but I would not recommend it at all based on the food and service.

What a fantastic treat! Cuban and Filipino fusion makes complete sense given both countries’ shared Spanish heritage. The dinner menu is approachable and well-paced, with the option to order half or full portions on everything from appetizers to entrees—a huge plus if you want to sample a bit of everything. The Lumpia Shanghai, Empanadas, and Adobo Wings are absolute must-tries. The Oxtail Kare-Kare is perfectly balanced without the shrimp paste being too overpowering, and it pairs brilliantly with a side of garlicky rice. To top it off, the drinks—from San Miguel beer to island-inspired cocktails—were spot on, and the service was warm and welcoming.

I have been to the restaurant twice. The service is excellent and so are the mimosas. You can actually taste a little champagne and not just orange juice. If you get there early for brunch you can have a conversation with person next to or across from you. After that the restaurant is packed, and the noise level is deafening. The shrimp & grits are not Louisiana but of course have a Philippine flair which for me personally was not appetizing. My brunch friend ordered the Silogs and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the lobster club and it was excellent. The crab rangoon dip was so-so and I would not order again.

Amazing food. Good service. Try everything! It is a little bit of a tight space but if you make a reservation you are fine, even if you don’t people move fast while you wait
