Loved it!! As always...
Perfect in all ways
Great, unique dining experience. Love how intimate it is. Delicious, creative food. We definitely go back.
Great food in a tiny space. Depending on which seat you get, your actual seating can borderline uncomfortable as it is very packed in. Otherwise superb.
A unique experience - we enjoyed watching the chefs work next to us with minimal equipment. Each item was carefully prepared and beautifully presented - Mac& cheese spring rolls, lobster salad, game hen with Spaetzle and corn, wagyu beef. Desert was triflin ho ho and tropic like it’s hot both yummy. The bottle of Montrachet was a good value for the 3 of us to share.
Fantastic food, staff and wine!!! Incredible place not to miss
Wonderful small restaurant with 12 seats; excellent food & service
Incredible! Food, service, ambience. Such a unique and delicious experience. Highly recommend!
What a find! Belle Harlem is the kind of restaurant all New Yorkers dream of finding and telling their friends about. Chef Darryl and hostess extraordinare Melissa make this a warm gathering of personal friends, not just diners - and indeed, many of the diners seem to have become their personal friends! It’s beyond astonishing what Darryl does with two tiny electric hot plates but believe it - this is high quality cuisine. And wonderful wines. Go and have a marvelous evening!!
Great food, service, dining experience, loved the intimacy. "Rules" irrelevant. Wine list could use expansion.
Great food and great experience with wonderful owners!
A bit like being at a very fine sushi restaurant. See everything, meticulous preparation, presentation, all expeditiously done in a tight efficient space. Beautifully choreographed food prep dance, and delicious!
Amazing meal , service and experience .. great to watch Chef Darryl cook while I was taken care of by his lovely wife Melissa . And a special thanks to Alex, the sous-chef! Excellent and modern Lobster Salad with a fine wine selection to compliment . Always fun to chat with the other guests and watch the meal preparations. My new favorite hang-out in Harlem .
Intimate and delicious - perfect Friday night date!
Excellent food! A new experience!
We are neighbors
This has to be one of the most unique and very special dining experiences in NYC right now. With space for 12 guests, eating here is almost like a private dinner party with very convivial hosts and food that is interesting and delicious. This is a jewel that all New Yorkers who care about independent chefs and owner proprietors should support.
A tiny jewel box tucked between a hair salon and defunct deli on Harlem's Adam Clayton Jr. Blvd., Belle Harlem is itself a little gem. The narrow space only allows for seating at the counter, but in exchange you can see the food as it's prepared in the open kitchen and interact with the staff of three. This is not a place where you can linger over your meal. Because the owners--the chef and his business partner wife--have to squeeze in multiple seatings to make ends meet, you're expected to arrive on time and finish 90 minutes later. But the food is delicious, if a little pricey considering the restaurant's limitations, and well worth making a trip for.
Outstanding all around. Melissa provided great service, the food was really swell, everyone there seemed to be having a great time, we certainly did. I can't wait to go back!
Eating at Belle is a real Chef's Table kind of experience. You are truly gathered at a kitchen island, chatting with the chef, his wife, and the sous chef as they prepare and serve your food. The food is creative, with unusual combinations and textures. It's a focused menu, with perhaps four small and four large plates, so check out the menu before you book to make sure their style will suit you. The atmosphere is relaxed and cordial. Note the seating is on stools and for quite a few seats you are advised to sit sideways. As with the food, make sure this will suit you before you book.
The food is just superb. And the ambiance is like dining with a large group of friends. Chef Darryl’ is so talented and Melissa is the best hostess.
Food is amazing!!!
My wife and I have eaten at Belle Harlem 4 times. The food is always extremely tasty!!
One of our favorite NYC places. Great food and a great story
As always we had an awesome time!
Great food, fun small intimate space. Attentive service. Highly recommend!
Dined last evening at Belle Harlem. The NYT review was spot on. We shared two small plates (appetizers) of Chicken and Waffles and Lobster Salad. Both were very good although I wasn’t impressed with the waffle part ( it was more cookie than waffle) but the Lobster Salad was outstanding. Large plates (entrees) of
Black Sea Bass with pasta and Hannibal Lecter beans 😉was expertly prepared. Duck breast very good, ably supported by the foie gras gravy and podium worthy but not a gold medal as was Legacy Records.A shared dessert of Lemony Tricket was a tasty treat highlighted by succulent fresh strawberries. A glass of Cab and Riesling served as an appropriate belly wash. Overall a good meal but downtown prices of $208 for 2. An interesting experience. Frankly the place is not comfortable physically. Really tough to enjoy a regulated 90 minute dinner sitting side saddle at a communal counter in a really small place listening to Melissa singing to her playlist. So do visit as a single or couple.

This is a gem. I highly recommend.
Food is really delicious--and pricey...especially dessert, which we found to be both really small and overpriced. The close quarters are close but nice. It is really, really warm, though (to be fair, we were there during the heatwave). We definitely enjoyed our meal and look forward to returning.
The owners are amazing; Kind and attentive. The food is delicious. The space is intimate and charming. Highly recommend
What IS the fuss about? Not a particularly friendly place, even given its small size. Expected the chef to be more available, but he was not into talking, busy, and certainly dressed as if in his apartment, not his restaurant. Go early, and you are pressured to eat and leave [as expected, just it was bluntly "time to go"]. Want a different kind of wine? Not if the owner/chef's wife doesn't like it [or your asking]. Selection is understandably limited given the shoe box size of the place, but the food is fine. Fun to go to a different section of Manhattan ... yet is it worth the trip?
It is truly refreshing to see someone put so much love and effort into each and every dish. The small intimate setting blends perfectly with each succulent dish. It was definitely a pleasure dining here. Looking forward to my next visit.
Great service and food. Exterior is not special, but inside is cool, clean, modern and relaxing. Only hitch is the time to dine and chat is small and I couldn’t finish my 1 glass of wine before it was time to really leave. The site mentions the time limit, but a nice time passes quickly. As such it’s more of a eating place to appreciate the food, which is good. It’s also dining room table shared space so it’s really intimate setting, but impressive and fun.
Tiny little restaurant with one community table and 12 seats. well designed......like eating at a chef's table. Outstanding food!!! mac and cheese spring rolls to die for! Black Bass on bed of fettuccine just wonderful. Service is great. Wine list is small, well curated, pretty broad and very affordable. Pricing (service is included) is very decent for NYC. A must go to!
Delicious, uniquely prepared food. Everything we tried was fantastic: lobster salad, filet mignon, brussel sprouts, wine. Super friendly service. We will be back!
I’ve been going to Belle since about the time it opened.
Always a great culinary experience. The flavors and textures they come up with are fantastic, and while I frequently order what they recommend, I don’t know anyone who’s ever been disappointed with any dish they’ve ordered.
Excellent wine list as well, and they’re very good at recommending pairings.
We had a fantastic experience!
Service was great, the food was better!
My family and I returned to Belle Harlem the following day.
Amazing place to eat great food. From the friendly smiles and great vibe, you cannot go wrong. One of New York's best spots bar none.
Excellent all around service and food!!!
Inclusive attention, music, and atmosphere
Great food! Great space! Great service! Loved it and would go back!
