   Benne was amazing, especially the staff and food. The ambience is authentic with beautiful portraits on the walls and an open kitchen. I visited along with my friends for a brunch and made a special request to arrange a small cake with candles, as a surprise to my friend who was celebrating his birthday that day. The beautiful ladies on the shift were up for it and made it a memorable experience.

   We enjoyed a delicious dinner! Each of the 3 of us ordered different entrees. Our server, Brandon, was excellent......careful about a food allergy and helpful and pleasant in every way. We enjoyed the dinner, service, and decor!!!

   Disappointing menu if you are vegetarian, vegan, or have any dietary restrictions (GF, no dairy, e.g.). Kale salad was a joke - big hunks of kale (not massaged or chopped finely) with a sprinkle of Parmesan and carrot slivers. Really nothing special about the entrees we ordered. Cocktails were good. Go for a drink and elsewhere for dinner. Sorry, Benne - it was much nicer when originally opened. Service was fine (although salad was forgotten and arrived 2/3 through entrees.

   Our drinks and soup came out in good time, but after more than an hour we still did not have our entrees. Upon ordering, we told our waitress we wanted separate checks, which she acknowledged. However, she brought only one check. We gave her 2 credit cards but that still did not jog her memory. It took so long to get our entrees that we did not ask her for 2 checks when she brought only 1 as we had theater tickets and needed to get out of there.

   Great service! Friendly and knowledgeable staff! Dined at a high top near the bar and enjoyed talking with Brandon, the bartender. The fried cauliflower was delicious and an interesting combination. The banana pudding was fabulous!

   Excellent food & excellent service. The amazing outdoors heaters were such a pleasant surprise. It was my Canadian colleague's first time trying fried green tomatoes & pimento cheese and she was in love.

    The smothered pork chops are insanely good. Paired with the perfectly seasoned mashed potatoes and green beans, I was only disappointed that I didn't finish it all!

    We were disappointed with this place since we’d heard good things about it. Our soup lacked flavor, and both of our entrees seemed mostly spiced with salt. It felt generally uninsired, more geared to tourists than to locals like us.

    The poor service (delays, reminding server that we ordered drinks...) brought down the experience. The food was good but with easy adjustments (something on the plate other than a salmon cake) could have been much better.

    Had most expensive glass of wine which was terrible, most likely because it came from a bottle that had been open for some time. Unacceptable. Ordered apple crisp for desert which did not come with ice cream, which was extra. Cost of apple crisp was $14 and ice cream was an additional $6 for a total of $20. Ridiculous that a desert would cost as much or more than an entree.

    Brandon and everyone at the restaurant were warm and welcoming. Had a great meal and a great time! Rack of lamb was great along with the creamy mac and cheese and an amazing broccolini salad.

    Fantastic food and value. Service was a little lacking, but that’s just one server, so I wouldn’t judge the entire staff based on her lack of attention. I saw other servers who were very attentive.

    Food was good but it took over an hour for our food to come out and the restaurant was not that busy. While waiting the server never even offered to refill our beverages. Nor did the server communicate or apologize for the food taking as long as it did. There is room for improvement.

    We had such a romantic and incredible evening! Brandon was very helpful and attentive. The food was absolutely outstanding! We got the pork belly, salmon cakes, duck, and catfish and of course a side of the best mac and cheese ever made!! Also, don’t sleep on the Durhamite cocktail! I’ve never had such joy in a glass. Amazing!!!!

    The food and service were great. The only real complaint had to do with the weather. Our table with 7 guests was near the door. Outside was below freezing and windy. So, everytime a customer came in or out we were windswept. Needless to say our food chilled quickly. So, pick a good weather day or a table away from the door and you will have a meal that you will tell your friends about.

    Was on vacation in Ashville, looking for Black owned restaurants and heard about this place. But nothing about it gave us Black owned. Not rhe crowd and not the menu. We were disappointed.

    Celebrated Valentine’s Day early in Asheville. Found this gem near the Asheville Music Hall where we attended a show later. The food did not disappoint. I had the pork and I could cut it with my fork. My husband had the catfish, which he found a tad salty for his taste but still very good. Service was excellent.

    What a gem! We had a great meal at Benne last night. My cocktail was delicious (a heavenly mixture of vodka, blueberry, lemon and lavender) called Mo Benne Blues) and I had Brussel sprouts for a side that was the most divine thing I’ve tasted in a while. Such good flavor! I had to give it a 4 on the food since my lamb meatballs were a tad dry and lentils’ seasoning was mediocre. my husband ordered the steak and peppers dish and while he enjoyed the steak, it came on top of a compote that had milk in it (he’s lactose intolerant) which meant he couldn’t enjoy it but other than that we had a wonderful time at this restaurant. The ambiance was lovely, decor very charming, and our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu. We will definitely be back to try the pork ribs which I’ve heard was amazing.

    We went on a rainy weekday evening and the restaurant was quiet but not too quiet. Everything we ordered was superb! It was comfortably slow but attentive service. Parking is difficult but doable. We’ll definitely go back.

    I took my husband here for his birthday as we had been eyeing the place for a while, but it was disappointing. I made a seating request with my reservation and even specified that I’d be willing to change the time of my reservation if that would make it easier. Unfortunately they didn’t honor the request or even give us options. The food was so bland, I was convinced they’d made a mistake. I had the catfish and it was not seasoned at all. The kale salad and fried green tomatoes were okay, but nothing super special. At least our server (Hunter) was great and accommodating, and it is a beautiful restaurant if you’re mostly concerned with ambiance. The drink selection is also good if you’re just planning on having drinks. The quality of food does not justify the expensive prices at all, and we do not plan on going back.

    Part of the meal was cold. Disappointed with the overall meals. Two people had the same meal and both had the same disappointment. The third meal lack favor. Our waitress was great snd very personable.
