A 24-hour in advance booking is required. Tea service is offered Wednesday to Sunday, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., concurrent with our lunch and dinner menus. Tea service is $65 per person (includes sales tax & gratuity) with a two-person minimum (odd number parties are accepted). Cancellations for refunds MUST be made before 11:00 AM the day of the reservation by calling (713) 904-3537. Voice Mail, email, and online are not accepted for cancellation. A credit card processing fee of 8% will be assessed for the refund. Splitting of tea service is not available. We do not offer Vegetarian, Vegan, sugar-free, or dairy-free tea service.

We really like this restaurant, and this visit was very different for us, as we had some older members of our family with us. We wanted it to be quiet and sat in the back room, which worked out very well.

We discovered this restaurant in a search for gluten free options for my husband who has celiac disease. But this restaurant just shines, not only because it has GF menu items, because the food is outstanding- freshly prepared, variety of menu choices, beautifully seasoned. We have eaten here 3 times on our travels to Houston, and I can honestly say that we haven’t had a dish that we haven’t thoroughly enjoyed. Lots of interesting wines on the menu to choose from. We will be back!

Wonderful Restaurant Weeks luncheon value with very good food. My friend had the short rib which she loved so much she ordered a to go portion to take home for her husband’s dinner. I had the crab cake that was quite good but with perhaps a tad too much filler. The lemon tart was delicious. Would definitely return to try their Sunday dinner specials.

Food is delicious but the restaurant staff were over-burdened and harried. The noise level ruined what otherwise would have been a lovely dinner. This sub-par experience was not the usual at this favorite restaurant of ours.

We typically have great service here and were excited to introduce BM to our friends. The service at dinner was surprisingly poor. I didn’t get shrimp on my salad as requested, waters weren’t refilled. The waitress was abrupt and not welcoming. We will be back for our usual Sunday brunch but I don’t think we’ll be able to convince our friends to return.

Always a delight! Good service, delicious food and lovely setting. We enjoyed HRW lunches of Crab Cake, with side of zucchini salad and cauliflower mash. My partner had the duck salad (no sides with this entree.) Lemon Tart and a crème brûlée we’re delicious. Tart was a little messy to eat. Since it was a little chilly inside, we had hot tea with was beautiful served. Noise was growing during lunch but not over the top.

Cafe Menil is always a delicious treat, with right sized portions, tasty dishes, excellent value, and an unpretentious atmosphere. My duck was excellent and my wife's salmon was perfectly prepared. The Lustau Vermut is a wonderful pre-dinner drink.

The food is always delicious at Bistro Menil. My wife had the Belgium Waffle with Fried Chicken and I had a wonderful Chicken Caesar Salad. We were too full to have their great desserts.

Excellent! My husband and I loved it! It was our first time at Bistro Menil and we were not disappointed: delicious food and great service! Everything was outstanding, but the octopus and the shrimp skewer were fantastic!

Came after a long absence. Ordered from the restaurant week menu. We were not planning it but it looked good. We had crab cake that was delicious and tasty, grilled shrimp over grilled pineapple. Very tasty with nice seasoning. The patatas bravas with the romanesca sauce was to die for. As good as any we have had in Spain. The wine we ordered was a 1/2 bottle in a carafe of a cask wine tempranillo from Spain. Wonderful! Dessert was impeccable. Lemon tart and Basque Cheesecake with berries and whipped cream on top - yummy and homemade. Service was good, environment was pleasant and unhurried. Chef Greg Martin is a wonderful host. Will be back soon!

Our waiter wasn’t very attentive, she seemed annoyed, and forgot about my wine and food order, also had an issue with the tip I gave. I understand places being short staffed or whatever the case may be but how is that the customer issue or reason to behave that way? I really had a good experience the first time dining at Bistro Menil However, after the poor experience yesterday I will not be coming back.

Unfortunately Bistro Menil seems to have gone downhill. Such a beautiful exterior but the interior is confusing and doesn't feel special (or particularly fresh or clean). The tea was such a disappointment. Way too expensive for the subpar food you get and tiny amount of tea. Not much food but it was so mediocre that we left much of it untouched. It didn't used to be like this.

We were there Saturday for lunch. The acoustics were so bad and it was so loud I couldn’t wait to get out of there. I work in a large restaurant during peak times and I am used to being noisy places. There is no comparison between the two. Your restaurant is intolerably loud due to some fault with the acoustics.

Went for lunch. Had lots to chose from. Food was outstanding. Had the freshest garden bowl. Because of the location decide to take a stroll through the museum. Made for a great afternoon away from work.
