Michelin starred Boka Restaurant has been a fixture in Chicago dining since 2003. In January 2014, Chef Lee Wolen joined as Executive Chef/Partner after the restaurant underwent a major renovation. Since his time at Boka, critics have taken notice. Phil Vettel of Chicago Tribune and Eater Chicago both named Lee as “2014 Chef of the Year.” Most recently, Lee was named 2015 “Chef of the Year." Boka’s food features contemporary, American cuisine, focusing on seasonality and sourcing as many local ingredients as possible.

I could not habe been more impressed with the tasting menu we chose to do. Not one element was missed. Everything was well thought out !! Amazing meal. Also when you get a chance order their house made pineapple soda with tequila!

Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Our anniversary felt extremely special at Boka. The scallops, liver mousse, caviar, gnudi, tartare, duck, and mochi brownie were all heavenly. We were surprised to find that the liver mousse starter was both of our favorite. The only teensy negative was the vegetarian entrée was, as my wife put it, 3 slices of squash on a plate. These 3 slices were certainly very tasty, but just not a real entrée for a vegetarian. This tends to happen a lot, but we just wish it didn't. The presence of a grain would go a long way. We absolutely plan to return with additional friends and family to try the tasting menu and more dishes.

We were looking forward to celebrating our anniversary at Boka. We have dined at several Michelin Star restaurants in Chicago and else where and appreciate the level of service and detail offered. We expected the evening to be “special” and in the end, it just did not feel like that. We arrived on time, yet had to wait for our table. Upon being seated, I immediately noticed my knife was stained and spotted- not what you would have expected. Our server (Sam) was well informed. However, she never took us through the menu. We ordered several starters and 2 entrees. The Spare Ribs and Artic Char- were delicious! The Hazelnut dessert was also exceptional. Due to the noise level, it was difficult to hear the server describe the dish as they were presented. The service was not attentive. We waited a long period of time to get our drinks. The presentation of the dishes lacked the “wow” factor. Boka did feel like a trendy, upscale restaurant. I believe in the end, the ambiance, noise level, presentation and service was not Michelin star level.

Boka was fabulous! Delicious food, beautiful ambience, excellent service. The only drawback was the temperature of the terrace. When the heat was on it was too hot and when it wasn’t on it was cold. Seemingly a minor detail, but people were fanning themselves. Otherwise 100% recommend!!!

Our meal at Boka was absolutely delicious! We enjoyed sitting among the artistic furbishing and service was wonderfully attentive, ... in short, we plan on becoming frequent diners. Everything was of top standard. Our waiter's explanation and recommendation of the dishes that interested us couldn't have been more helpful. It's clear the staff are committed to great and friendly service. Most importantly, our meal was a blend of delicate, savory and creative flavors that left us starstruck. Boka's Chef, Lee Wolen shows his diners a level of commitment to beautiful, inspirational haute cuisine.

I did not know what to expect of Boka by any metric, but every surprise that appeared during the meal was a pleasant. Loved all the staff, very thorough! Sam was very helpful, informative, and considerate. I was a big fan of the wide variety of N.A. drinks they had available. The New Amsterdam was a highlight. The whole meal flew right by, I hope we didn't overextend our time at the table.

Celebrated my husband’s birthday, the staff wished him happy birthday since we came in. He got a personalized birthday menu with his name on it. Our waitstaff was so pleasant and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious. The scallops were amazing and we wanted to get a second order. The duck was phenomenal. It was a must try! We enjoyed the food and drink and everything at Boka. Thank you all for making my husband’s birthday a very memorable one.

Brought my girlfriend here for her birthday and we were not disappointed. The food and service was excellent and they made sure to accommodate us with an intimate booth for the special occasion. The staff was very professional and attentive, as you would expect at a restaurant of this caliber. Two recommendations would be the Interpolate This for a delicious & unique autumnal cocktail and the Ricotta Gnudi for a melt in your mouth appetizer that is to die for (we both agreed this was the best thing we had). Looking forward to coming back and trying the duck.

We love BOKA! Cocktails - Butterfly ; Old fashioned -were fantastic. As always, food was excellent. fresh, beautifully prepared. Interesting starters: fois grois, pasta with truffles and scallops were a hit. Entrees: short rib, duck and chicken also delicious. Service was wonderful. Great suggestions on wine and food. Professional, yet low-key.

It was a lovely experience that I had with Boka, it was my girlfriend’s birthday, they brought a special menu paper for her. And at the end, they brought a cake for her. It was a totally surprise. It made the night into higher level.

The courses on the tasting menu were wonderful, except for the fois gras. It was served cold and the taste as a result was vinegary. We would have enjoyed it more heated. The staff was attentive and quite informative. Nice experience.

Boka was absolutely amazing! My partner and I did the tasting menu for our birthdays. Each dish was as delicious as the next! The meal was memorable, unique, and interesting. Outstanding. We indulged in the tasting menu and it was all delicious with a lovely presentation. The shaved foie gras, wagu beef and desserts were particularly outstanding. Service was welcoming and attentive.

The tasting menu was legitimately the best meal of my life. (Narrowly topping Marea in NYC when they had Micheline star) I've been to a few Micheline star restaurants before, but the food here was on another level. The service and ambiance was amazing too.
