Delicious food. The service needs improvement. Second visit this year snd service was poor then as well.
Absolutely delicious! Fantastic service, amazing chef - ask for the tasting menu!
Food was excellent. A little pricey for SE MN but definitely worth a splurge every now and then. Menu was very diverse. One caveat was service was quite slow on simple stuff. First drink order took about 15-20 minutes to get. Hopefully will be back.
Server forgot dessert, otherwise the experience was good
Our food was excellent as usual and the atmosphere is very quaint and charming. Our service was a little slow throughout, especially toward the end of our dinner when it seemed our server was busy doing other things besides worrying about getting us our bill and that put a sour note on the end of the evening. Overall, a good experience.
The food was exceptional. I had the best beet salad I've ever had in my life. They also have superb cocktails. Both the chef and our waitress made our experience amazing and we felt as if we were the only table in the restaurant.
The menu has been paired down some, which is good, allows for focus on really great dishes. I tried the prawns this time and they were very good. Service is really fine dining. Not many places have white tablecloths any more. And the comfy chairs in the dining room are such a bonus.
We were looking forward to a new place to dine for our date night and came across this one. We had a nice evening and enjoyed the environment very much. The menu offered some fresh flavors. It was a bit light on Tiger Prawn “shareables” . We assumed there might be more than four considering it was listed as a shareable appetizer. Additionally, there was an opportunity to add shrimp to a menu item main dish which we did, yet it only yielded 3 shrimp on the platter. Despite the smaller than expected seafood portions, we would definitely return. The atmosphere is fantastic for a date night, the presentation of food is beautiful.
One recommendation for the owner would be to place a bigger sign on the door to alert patrons how to enter the building (it’s the far left door off the parking lot side of bldg). We walked all the way around the building to find the correct door to enter and watched and chuckled as we saw three other guest parties do the same thing while we ate our meal…oops!
We loved Chez Bojji from the minute we stepped into its lovely, nicely decorated , welcoming environment (kind of a surprise, given its plain historic street front in an unassuming location).
It was kind of a special occasion for us, related to my wife’s medical issues, and we did feel we had a special evening. We started with salads— the roasted beet one, in particular, was outstanding, if you enjoy beets, as was the special heirloom tomato salad. My wife had the grandmother’s meatballs in a rich tomato sauce, while I had a delicious bouillabaisse (again rich, not watery like many preparations.). We both sopped up our remaining sauces with way too much of the outstanding bread they brought along with. Not enough room for dessert, so can’t review that, but we highly recommend this restaurant.
Nice quiet place to have dinner with a friend. Loved to local beer!!
Everything was pretty good. Little things here and there happened but not a big deal. Not sure if I’d return though since it’s not my vibe.
A lovely dining experience. Fantastic food and service.
We’ve dined three or four times; first time experience was fantastic but declined each subsequent visit. Chef/owner was unexpectedly absent on Friday night (staff was suspicious of his explanation of car breaking down) leaving the kitchen to be run by 17 yo (we were told; with likely some premade items). We ended up leaving after 1.75 h with our meals partially and incorrectly made (such as crab cakes without toppings/salad items and chicken tikka without rice), while being fully charged. We offered chance to discuss our experience w Owner chef next day and make it right but that was evidently declined. We suspect the restaurant is closing or something’s wrong. It’s a shame.
Went out for my wife’s birthday with our friends and the service was horrible. When the waiter finally came around to get our drinks they took 30 minutes to arrive and the waiter was unsure of who each drink belonged to. We placed an order for appetizers along with our drink orders and when they hadn’t arrived within 40 minutes of ordering them we decided we were going to pay for our drinks and leave. The waiter told us that the cook had broken down on their way in - if this was the case why not notify the people who reserved the reservation to see if they wanted to make changes or at the very least inform us when we arrived so we were aware? They ended up giving us the appetizers at no charge but we paid for our drinks and left. We went to the Redwood Room and the service was fast and very friendly. We have been patrons of Chez Bojji during Covid and placed multiple take out orders so when I brought my wife there for her birthday (our first dining experience in a restaurant in Rochester since Covid) the experience was extremely frustrating and disappointing. We will no longer be patrons of this establishment.
Highly recommend trying this restaurant! The food was amazing. Waitress was very friendly. Chef greeted us and was very friendly and helpful. Very pleased with the overall experience. We will be back again!
Excellent menu choices; attentive wait staff ; off-street parking
Server was belligerent in her manor and unapologetically spilled our drinks as she slammed them on the table, service was also very slow. Everything we ate was spicy even though I had asked for no spice, boyfriend and I spent our anniversary evening in the toilet getting sick shortly after eating here. Everything is overpriced based on the quality of food that was served. Would not recommend.
The food was good, but not unique. The decor was a bit tacky. The ambience OK, nothing special.
The restaurant is pleasant inside. It is small but quaint.
We happened to eat there on their date night, but were not interested in the date night special.
The restaurant advertises that it is French food, yet we found many Indian dishes being served.
The chefs Nicole salad surprisingly had no tuna, the beet salad was not as advertised, the beets were hard and the greens in both were mainly arugula.
For our Entrees we had the Scallops Lemon Beurre Blanc $34. The scallops were over cooked, the sear on them was almost burnt and there was a lot of Brussels sprouts. With 4 small scallops, the Brussels sprouts were the main item in the dish.
Our other entree was the Bouillabaisse. For $39 I expected more than 2 small scallops and 3 shrimp. The menu says seasonally fresh seafood. I doubt these were fresh and where was the fish that is usually in this stew? Plus none of our scallops were cleaned. The worst part of the dish was the sauce. Bouillabaisse sauce does not normally have Indian spices and nothing was in the menu to state it would have these. It was so spicy that even after wiping the sauce off the seafood, my lips were still burning. I did not even eat the sauce. It was good it came with a hunk of bread which helped a little with the burning.
The manager/owner we believe was our waiter as well as the bartender. He was busy visiting with people at the bar . He never even asked how our food was.
We had been looking forward to French food and had high hopes for this restaurant. What a let down. We will not be back.
We have eaten in many different types of restaurants-across the country, from mom & pop places to 3 Michelin star restaurants. The menu for this restaurant uses the Michelin name for a food choice, yet I believe they are not Michelin trained cooks. This was more of a little bistro with a mixed menu but with offerings of many Indian spiced dishes
We went to another restaurant for dessert so the evening would not be a complete failure
Went for Wednesday night date night. Meal for two included appetizer, entree, dessert, and a bottle of wine. Great food, great service, and great value. Will definitely do again.
We enjoyed our experience.
Our server, Daniel, was great. Cocktails and food exceeded expectations.
The menu is extensive and made it hard to decide what to choose. We'll just have to go back to order other items. I had the Saffron Chicken and it was delicious except for too much zuchinni (not a fan) Husband raved about his bouillabaisse
Everything was perfect as always since we go there
This place is a Rochester treasure or at least is quickly becoming one. The menu is amazing, the staff are incredibly friendly and know what they are talking about, and the food demands that you come back to try more.
Chez Bojii is a “must do” dining experience. I will definitely visit again
The food was delicious, but I don't think our young waiter had ever waited tables before. He forgot to put in my entree order and didn't recognize his mistake until my dinner partner was almost done with her meal, didn't refill water or drinks, and brought only 1 dessert when we had asked for two. Everything took a lot longer than it should have. I suspect they were having staffing issues, like many restaurants are right now, as the other staff didn't seem overly experienced either and there was a lot of urgent discussion going on behind the bar all evening. It was also a bit noisy. I will go back - there are things on the menu that I really want to try and the food I did get (beet salad and red velvet cake) were wonderful, but maybe not on a Friday evening.
Heard many great things about Chez Bojii. We just caught them on a tough night. They were short on staff and had a very young server. He tried very hard but his inexperience showed. We were out of beverages throughout the night and the time between check-ins was very long. The smoked salmon appetizer was scrumptious. However, one of our dishes was quite salty (Moulin Rouge Cabaret Chicken). You can tell the head cook is very passionate and the menu is very diverse and interesting. We will definitely come back and try again.
The evening was okay--but just that. We didn't realize it was "date night." So, there was an optional menu. We saw things we thought we would like and decided to try it. Our friends chose regular menu items. Their shared appetizer of mussels arrived very quickly. They had finished their appetizer and ours had not appeared. I finally asked our over-worked server about it. It finally was served ten minutes later. Our drink orders were also slow to be served. My mussel and shrimp with pasta main course was okay. Several of the mussels had not opened when they were cooked--but the chef served them anyway. Since that is a sign that the mussels are not good, I discarded them. My husband's pork had good flavor, but the pork was very slow cooked (to well done). Our friends had halibut--which was was a home run-- and fish stew. The fish stew was nicely seasoned, but he described the shrimp as overcooked and tough. Our desserts were good. Conclusion? There is room for improvement.
We enjoyed the food and good wine list. Next time we will try the Chef’s Choice! Ambiance can be improved by taking out the fake flowers and have some nice art objects from Morocco, France, etc.
Service was great, attention to filling out water glasses and answering questions because those was our first visit. Food was flavorful without a lot of oil or salt, but with great seasoning.
Absolutely astounding. The decor is beautiful and table settings are warm and comfy and inviting. The food was of the highest quality and caliber. Service was kind, attentive, interactive, and very pleasant. I would go every night if I was able!
We have enjoyed dinners at Chez Bojji many times. This past weekend we brought friends for their first experience.
We greatly enjoyed our dinners. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Our friends will definitely be returning.
Service was timely and friendly.
A lovely evening.
The wine list was excellent. A very broad selection of French and American Continental meals. The music was set at a perfect volume. This restaurant is very strong
Best chef in Rochester
Highly recommend chef tasting menu!
This is the second time we have dined at Chez Boji. It has definitely become a new favorite. It has an elegant, casual ambience and the food is absolutely spectacular! Can’t wait to go back.
This was our second dine-in experience and was just as good as the first time. The atmosphere is very cool and swanky, and the food is amazing!!! Cant wait to go back!
Amazing food in a chic environment
Really enjoyed our meal at Chez Bojji! The servers were very attentive, and the meal was delicious! They have a wide range of items on the menu, so I am excited to go back and try other things on the menu.
