Five Pointed Star
They pulled out the stops for our anniversary and the food was great!
Helpful staff and food was good. Wasn’t too busy but had a good ambiance.
Definitely returning to try more!
Fantastic service from start to finish, had the huge dish from the smokehouse menu and it was delicious, pulled pork, pork belly, mac and cheese, dirty fries, beans, it was the best comfort food I've had for a long time, will definitely be going back again
I took my auntie and mum for lunch on Sunday, they both have poor mobility, the staff were helpful and accommodating, even though they hadn't revived our booking.
The food is always amazing and the chef always tries is best to accommodate dietary requests.
Disappointed this time after such a great visit last month. Friendly staff but service slow and lacked any real interest in us. Food was mediocre and the menu differed from the online menu. Very limited veggie choice. One diner said the only meat salad was terrible.
We went here on Bank Holiday Monday. As requested we were given a table with good access and room around as my father has mobility issues. The waitress/bar lady was lovely and couldn’t have been more helpful and chatty. Orders taken promptly. Food was delicious, freshly cooked and piping hot. Bill was reasonable. We loved it and will be back!
Really good food. Lovely staff. Garden is great. The children’s meals were fab. Thanks for a lovely lunch
Seriously good roast dinner. The portions are enormous and the meat is very tender. It’s absolutely delicious whether we have the pork, chicken or lamb. The pub has recently been decorated and it looks so much better. The service is great - attentive without being annoying. Would thoroughly recommend
Very nice pub, the staff were excellent especially as there was 13 of us and the food very tasty. Would highly recommend this pub.
Mother’s Day lunch. Staff were excellent, food was excellent, highly recommend
Good place to go for pub lunch, dinner time had lack of choices remaining on the menu. But staff were very friendly & offered us a free drink for the inconvenience.
Quiet place to enjoy a drink & local to other good lively bars!
Sunday roast was great, with good choice of main meat or vegetarian alternative. Truly dog friendly with a bowl of water and some treats offered as soon as we were seated. Thanks very much
Have been here several times for mid week lunches so was ore than confident that the Sunday lunch would be just as good and it was.. .great staff, great food ....highly recommended
Food was ok but service was awful. Took 30 minutes to be offered a menu and drink despite being quiet. Food was average but no better. After clearing main meal had to go to bar and pay as not communicated with and server sat at bar on mobile phone.
The five pointed star was honestly such an amazing find! The building itself is quirky and quaint with mysterious staircases and book cases. There are also separate rooms so you feel as if you have your own area. The service was impeccable with lots of advice and smiles from the waitresses. We were also quite a fussy group when it came to food but nothing was too difficult to change. The food itself was incredible! I would recommend the lamb shank. Overall, we stayed here for 4 hours when we had meant to come for lunch because we enjoyed the place so much. Thank you :)
Quaint, cozy and quintessential British pub, great food, reasonably priced, and great service. Perfect.
Boxing Day lunch, reduced menu but very good value and good food.
Very festive! We had a lovely time, food excelent x
The pub was quite full and had a nice atmosphere. Went specifically for a roast dinner. Good portion size and the vegetables had an amazing taste. The beef was sliced thinly and my husband said it was very tender and easy to cut and tasted beautiful, I opted for leg of lamb which was cut slightly thicker and wasn't as tender and not as easy to cut. On the whole though a satisfactory meal and good value.
Absolutely fantastic Sunday lunch! All the other food we saw come out looked amazing too. Can’t recommend enough. Great staff too
we had a very enjoyable lunch, good service and value
A steady favourite anyway, the Five Pointed didn't let us down. Service took longer than usual but that may be because we came quite early for lunch so perhaps ours was the first order. The staff are always lovely. They brought a bowl of water and a plate of treats for the dog which is such a lovely touch.
The earliest booking we coukd get was 8pm although we arrived at 8.15pm due to difficult parking, one side of the restaurant had young people just drinking the noise was unbearable and we couldn't talk the manageress moved us to another room after some other diners had left, we got our meal just before 9pm when we asked to see the desert menu at 9.30pm we were told the kitchen had closed at 9pm. My date complained to the manageress who supplied the menus and we got our desert. Its not an experiance I wish to repeat and will not visit again.
Food was disappointing. Ordered scampi and chips, no peas. Came with peas, that didn’t really matter, but the scampi was preformed, fish substitute, uniform in shape and definitely hadn’t seen any scampi! Think that’s very poor in a restaurant. My daughter had fish and chips, no peas. Again came with peas, which didn’t really matter, but the fish had a lot of batter and was very dry. My son had steak and chips which he said was good. Were going to have desserts but waitress didn’t return.
Had to approach bar to pay and then wait some time to do so. Didn’t seem to have enough staff on. Have eaten here before on a Sunday, which was good, hence return visit, but we won’t be back again. Sorry
This pub had good landlords several years ago and they retired. The new landlords had a different view of how an old beautiful pub should be presented, for me, they missed the mark totally. Trendy and expensive with little ambience to speak of. Now...oh wow...the current landlord has brought back the comfort the pub offered very good food at a reasonable price, and a touch of decor befitting a very old original building, not stuffy, not pretentious. Good food, good prices and helpful good mannered staff.
Didnt take up the booking due to illness restaurant was very uderstanding will try againe in the near future
Wonderful atmosphere when going to eat on a Sunday - busy Sunday lunch feel with excellent and consistent service alongside high quality food. Best roast I've had in a pub/restaurant in a very long while, and considering I eat out a lot I was extremely impressed!! Would highly recommend a meal here for any and all occasions
Great food and service, my favourite pub in West Malling 😀
The food used to be really good but we got a very obviously re heated Sunday lunch. Vegs not cooked , hard potatoes & dried up beef.
Will never go back
Loved this pub, so glad we found it. They allow dogs in the bar which is why we went there.
Food and service was excellent. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Very accommodating for a last minute group. Staff were so good. We all had burgers which we all ate and liked although a bit noisy as live music everyone else really enjoyed
Friendly, amazing service, great food = awesome 👏🏻
Was seated in snug area which was a bit claustrophobic, large party of 14 was going to be arriving soon so we asked to be moved, moved to bar area, better location & atmosphere. Limited choice of starter (one of which was chips, on Easter Sunday with a roast or scampi & chips)!! or main course, but food was really good.
Lovely Mother’s Day lunch. Cosy room and delicious homemade food. Really enjoyed the roasts and nice to have a children’s menu with smaller roast option.
Wine list was short but a great choice. Lunch was divine. But disappointed with the small dessert menu. Could do with a crumble/ sponge pudding after the yummy main... However the family announced that the waffles were amazing. Great friendly service and great value too x
Nice food and the staff were very friendly but a very long wait for our food!
I liked the buzz of this place. Good sing-along music playing, good vibe.
Great service - they couldn't do enough for us. Would definitely go back there again!
Service was good, ambience was cosy, especially with a roaring fire in the middle of the dining room. Food was brilliant- I would recommend the Truffle burger! Good selection of ales
We deliberately booked on a band night,
Brothers from another Cover were great. Food a little slow to come out as we were still eating when the entertainment started, limited menu but good food x
Love the ambiance and the car park is a plus for lunch time get together. Fantastic fish and chips. Disappointed they had stopped the steak sandwich which was on the website menu and they could not accommodate given two of us wanted it! Overall lovely friendly place and food is good in very competitive village. Lovely open fire. Wish them well
