Forage & Chatter
Anniversary dinner food was superb, service excellent and friendly. Already booked for birthday dinner
Great food, beautifully presented. Very efficient and friendly service. Two course menu perfect.
Very good wines. Choose a booth as can really Chatter there.
Had a nice dinner in this restaurant. Food was delicious.
Great service, great food, wonderful ambiance, very relaxed and special touches. A gem in the heart of the city..
Quaint restaurant and the food was beautifully presented but didn’t think the taste measured up. The starter salad was the best tasting course of the meal. Lamb was nice and tender but lacked taste. Expected a dessert with word “dulce” to be sweet but sweetness was overpowered by the less than sweet fruit.
Outstanding food and great wine in a lovely setting with exceptional service. Highly recommended restaurant providing fine dining quality at very good value prices.
The food was outstanding. Everything we ordered was absolutely beautiful and delicious. Excellent service. Quiet and quaint, perfect for a date night or special dinner.
Forage & Chatter was an exceptional experience. Perfect for the one night I stayed in Edinburgh to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. It goes without saying that the food and drink was brilliant, so I would rather point out three added extras that really made eating there a pleasurable affair.
First, was the fact that the restaurant rang me – well ahead of time – to say that the card reader had packed up and, therefore, I would need cash for that evening. Usually, this would have been a pain, but given plenty of warning it is no trouble at all.
Second, was our waiter, Liam, who provided great service throughout the evening, answering any questions we had and just generally being very approachable, as well as unobtrusive.
Third, was the complementary birthday treats provided by the restaurant. Always a nice touch when celebrating a special occasion, and ensured we left the restaurant smiling.
All in all, I would definitely recommend to anyone who asked.
Food was good. Service however was too much (a bit intrusive). It was my husbands 40 th birthday weekend which we spent in Edinburgh. This was the only venue booked (where I pre positioned this) that didn’t acknowledge this. A bit disappointing really. And cash only.
The food was excellent! Our waiter did forget one of our sides. The restaurant was clean and well appointed.
The food was exquisite. The staff was friendly. Overall a 5 star experience and a food stop worth visiting.
Recommended by our daughter while we were visiting Edinburgh and this certainly is a hidden gem and fantastic value for lunch in every way
The dishes were not tasty. It was something like this: Someone new in the kitchen business is trying to make interesting combinations of different tastes in one dish. But the result is catastrophic. We tried three dishes; one starter, two main courses each one was below avarage. There is an effort, but the result is not what intented. The different tastes in one dish could not combine in a new whole.
It was a really good experiance at Forage & Chatter. Really good food and so sweet and kind staff.
Beautiful food, great service. Our favourite place to eat when in Edinburgh
A Top Ten meal in our lifetime ... and we’re in the dining industry. Amazingly deft recipes, so- fresh ingredients, perfect service and great ambiance. Would eat there every night ... if we lived in Edinborough!
Outstanding food quality and excellent level of service.
Starters : tasteless duck liver parfait with as side only some "carots and mayonaise !" and a very dry brioche. The trout was too sour
Main courses : the guinea fowl and coley fishwere OK
Side dishes : we ordered buttered potatoes but in stead broccoli was brought
WIne : during main course, we had to fill our glasses ourself
we had better diners in Edinburgh for less money
Our first night in Edinburgh and delighted to find this place (reserved about a month out), it has an entry that is down one floor from the street.
Excellent, inventive food - all local and with a twist. Our very best, of three very good, starters was a Stone bass w strawberry, radish and avocado salad w egg yolk. Just trust me (all 4 of us) when we say, if t is on the menu, say yes. For main course, none of us really wanted to share - guinea fowl, salmon and the Coley (fish) all was delicious. All w very special flavor combinations that surprised and delighted us. Dessert - again - no sharing offered, but the strawberry rhubarb w ricotta ice cream was stellar and not too sweet. The rye tartlet and the nougat parfait also disappeared from plates. Such a delightful place, felt warm and cozy while still very hip. Would highly recommend.
Quirky restaurant with an amazing menu, everything I tried was delicious!!!!
Attentive staff. Altogether a great experience, thanks.
This was our third visit and all aspects of our lunch were still excellent. The waitress welcomed us warmly, was friendly and efficient, the food light and flavoursome and the cost very reasonable.
Lovely relaxing meal - food was beautiful and went at out own pace - will return again
Great restaurant, championing local produce. Excellent quality and service to match.
That was absolutely wonderful! The flavour and plating were top notch, menu knowledge of staff bang on. So pleased I had the opportunity to dine here, am hoping to go back before I return to Canada.
We were visiting from london and had a very lovely meal. The cured trout was the highlight for me. I had Guinean fowl for mains - tasty but too filling. My partner enjoyed both the asparagus and salmon dishes. Lovely chilled restaurant with innovative food
Very good but not quite as outstanding as it used to be. The parfait dessert was still frozen. First course was delivered a minute after the bread. And the fresh bread with its yoghurt butter and tangy pesto deserved to be savoured.
Great to bring friends from SaoPaolo to F&C
Really tasty food, demonstrating an assurance in the kitchen and beautifully sourced ingredients.
Particularly nice maitre d’ who was very chatty and we were able to swap restaurant recommendations with
Excellentes Essen, aufmerksamer Service und sogar ein Kellner, der Deutsch spricht. Entspannte Atmosphäre, rustikale, dezente Einrichtung. Jederzeit gerne wieder.
We visited Forage and Chatter already in May 2018. The restaurant is still worth a visit but we are sorry to tell that it is not as fabulous as it a year ago.
Highly recommended! Food, wine and drinks all very well presented! Superb service!
Excellent spot - food was great and the service was attentive. The owner is a great guy!
Excellent food , the smoked trout starter was brilliant. The service was attentive , knowledgeable and friendly
Sweet warren of rooms created an intimate atmosphere for a very interesting and well executed menu. Beetroot cured trout appetizer outstanding.
We chose this restaurant after reading the reviews, and am sorry to say we were disappointed. We also thought it was expensive, (as an example my husband wanted a ‘shandy’ and was brought a small bottle of lager which when we got the bill was £4.75, and a fairly small bottle of lemonade costing £2.95, a rather expensive shandy we thought). No deserts or coffees 1 shandy and 1 glass of wine, and not much short of £100. Unfortunately in our opinion it was overpriced.
Tried the lunch menu. Top class food, location and service. Already recommended to friends and colleagues.
After spending over a week in lovely Edinburgh on holiday I can honestly say that Forage and Chatter was the best restaurant I experienced. My only regret is that on the particular night of my reservation the restaurant's charge card machine was not functioning and I could only use cash. This was the last night of my holiday and my cash amount was low. The pound is not my normal form of currency.
I would have enjoyed a larger selection on the menu but had to limit my meal to what cash I had.
But that said, I would return in a heartbeat. I loved this restaurant and hope to enjoy it again. The dinner, service and ambiance was some of the best that I have ever had.
Our second visit here. Food was amazing, beautifully presented and lots of lovely flavours. The staff were friendly and efficient. Will definitely go back, but as a special occasion most likely,
