My husband and I came in for dinner for our anniversary (second year in a row for our special day) and per usual, French Miso Cafe never disappoints. A seasonal menu that always delivers on freshness, flavor, and quality. Typically there is a prix fixe menu which I love and find to be an incredible bargain. This time the menu was a la carte. Still priced well and portion sizes are ample. My only minor critique, and this is purely subjective, is I wish the desserts had been a little more exciting or different. Probably just the night we were there, but they were desserts we had had before and while they are all executed well (ice cream profiteroles, creme anglaise tart with berries, cheesecake) they feel "safe". I would love to see the profiteroles offered with black sesame or matcha ice cream. A matcha cake, buckwheat cookies, mochi… and/or desserts flavored with red bean, sweet potato, yuzu, green tea, miso, sesame… incorporating Japanese flavors into those traditional French baking techniques. This is my personal opinion. I'm always interested in a fresh take on classics, but this in no way is a reflection of how excellent and well-executed the dishes (and desserts) are that come out of that kitchen. Service was warm, friendly, and attentive. We felt looked after and never felt neglected. And our server gave us plenty of space and privacy too. French Miso Cafe is my favorite restaurant in the Coachella Valley. To me, it's right up there with any fresh and new place coming out of Los Angeles. I highly recommend it!

It was the perfect little place to have our date. The food was amazing and the waiter was patient and very nice. It was a cozy place and the lighting was low which gave French Miso Cafe a nice indoor ambiance.

an unexpectedly quiet and romantic restaurant( with excellent food and fabulous service) just steps from the bustling center of Palm Canyon Drive in downtown Palm Springs. It is on a tiny lane lined with 1930's Spanish cottages which have become small businesses, including this one. A gem. As the name implies, the food is an innovative mixture of east and west- some familiar French dishes with unexpected sauces, some combinations that work even better than the more traditional ones! One caveat: It has a very small menu which changes every 2 weeks, so check before you book if possible.

Lovely courtyard cafe in the middle of things but away from the crowds. Take a table under the bougainvillea and be transported to a French garden. Excellent service (thanks William!) and great food, centered on Japanese-style dishes like Bento boxes & gyoza, and salads with a French flair. Best miso soup around!

The waiters had to share a wine key. Couldn’t explain the dishes on the menu. Timing of the courses was poor and no one cared. I am a local and will not be back.

A hidden gem with excellent cuisine. Quaint atmosphere, sat outside amongst the bougainvillea enveloping the Spanish abode and a glimpse of San Jacinto’s ridge. The service was stellar and with an attentive proprietor on hand and overseeing operations. The avocado toast has me planning on a return visit to this establishment. À bientôt!

This was tucked away off the beaten path. We sat outside, it was very charming and the ambiance was great! My wife had the corn and basil soup and the striped sea bass with a nice Beaujolais and I had the shrimp gyoza dumplings and the scallops and asparagus risotto with some Sauvignon Blanc. It all was wonderful, a real jewel!

This is a lovely little place that feels more like a rustic French sidewalk location than downtown Palm Springs. Very nice French wines and a nice combination of French and Asian cuisine. We've had dinner here several times but this was our first lunch..we'll be back.

Worst dining experience in Palm Springs - booked table for 11.15am and eventually received food (at different intervals) an hour later. Poached eggs arrived hard and cold, more like hard boiled eggs. Not allowed to add anything to a small portion breakfast and told no alterations due to the size of the kitchen! This restaurant needs to scale down its number of reservations it accepts as they clearly cannot cater for the bookings. Avoid this place at the weekend brunch perhaps. Or choose somewhere else.

Hello Paul Sunday brunch was chaotic, there is no denying that quite a few customers were unhappy. The is reason for that, In the middle or plating big tables, an over the head plates fell down and shattered on our working area, the cooks "mise en place", we had to throw everything away and were scrambling to redo the mise en place, the orders for the big tables. It was a struggle. (it is why no alterations and/or substitutions were possible for a while) I take issue with your description of the restaurant, as the reviews will reflect the quality or our food, the satisfaction of our patrons, during the week as well as during brunch. I am profusely sorry about your experience and, as a show of my sincerity, I would like to invite you back, on us, at a time of your choosing Eric Bovy

As much as it pains me to do so, I have to give this restaurant a low rating, based on this experience. During previous visits, the only negative I had was small portion sizes, at least at dinner. This time we arrived about 4 minutes past our reservation time due to trouble finding parking. We were taken right in. There were about 5 choices on the menu for appetizers, four entrees. We chose to skip appetizers even though we knew the entree would be small. We both ordered the quail, which based on the menu they emailed me, was the reason for our visit. As we sat there with water only, I started to noticed that people that were seated after us were receiving their food. The waitress came over after that and said the food was nearly ready, at which time we requested bread that we never received. After 45 minutes our entrees arrived, the quail on both was RAW. Another server came over and explained that they were now out of everything but the two seafood dishes, which I was not interested in. We left there after consuming nothing but water.

the food was insanely delicious yet again. my friend got chicken and I got the seabass which is the stuff of dreams. We shared the chocolate mousse which had a caramel core... YUMMY! Can't wait to go back. Thank you!

Always a delight to enjoy a meal in this charming and low key secret gem. Chef came to our table to make sure everything was perfect and it was. They brewed fresh coffee for us and everything was prepared with care and the utmost freshness. The menu items are always ample and also prepared in a way that makes them not too heavy. Truly indicative of French and Asian cuisine combined. We had the omelette and the quiche. Served with the freshest greens dressed just right. The restaurant is spotless. Love this place and have for years!
