I just wanted to thank the staff, especially Martina, for making our afternoon tea on Friday so special & enjoyable. The service you provided was excellent & the way you related to my grandson was a pleasure to behold. He will treasure the lion toy you gave him. Needless to say the afternoon tea was exquisite. Thank you again.

I could not believe a five star hotel is serving up pre-marinated chicken with grill marks shipped in from a catering company and then heated up in a bag/sous vide. The Caesar salad should be with grilled chicken and instead it was a soggy, wet gelatinous piece of chicken, pink in parts, that tasted like it was boiled in a bag, with what seemed like pretend grill marks. We then learn it’s pre-marinated and delivered like that from a catering company rather than made fresh onsite. The quality of both meals was substandard and it was a lazy effort. No way this is five star. The place was also short staffed and lacked polish.

Great experience at the Afternoon Tea. The service was 1st-class, the food delicious and the tea was exceptional. Shout-out to Martina for being friendly, polite and engaging.

We attended the London Gay Men’s Chorus concert at the ballroom at Pan Pacific London in Bishopsgate/Houndsditch as part of a belated birthday celebration and unfortunately the experience afterwards left us really disappointed. After the concert we stayed behind briefly to catch up with friends and realised we were running late for drinks/snacks in the hotel bar. We asked several members of security staff if someone could let the restaurant/bar know we were on our way, but were met with quite abrupt and dismissive responses. One member of staff told us we had to go to the bar ourselves to explain, which we did. What made the situation particularly frustrating was that when we tried to return the same way we had just come through, the same security staff member refused us access and simply shrugged when we pointed this out. We were then made to leave the hotel entirely and walk around the outside of the block to re-enter through another entrance. Reflecting on it afterwards, the tone and attitude from the security staff towards us felt unnecessarily dismissive and uncomfortable, particularly given the nature of the event and the predominantly LGBTQ audience attending the concert. Whether intentional or not, it certainly did not feel especially welcoming. Once in the bar, the waitress who served us was genuinely lovely and helpful, but sadly the food was another disappointment. We ordered sharing snacks including the club sandwich and the “super three cheese” toastie. The toastie in particular was underwhelming, with only a very thin layer of cheese inside, and overall the food did not feel remotely in keeping with the hotel’s reputation or pricing. All in all, it was a disappointing end to what should have been a really enjoyable evening celebrating a birthday after a fantastic choir concert. Sadly, based on this experience, I don’t think we would choose to return.
