As an Enoteca, we have an extensive Italian wine list which can be enjoyed by the glass or bottle and is available to buy to drink at home! We also have a selection of draught beers and real ales on offer in keeping with the tradition of this fabulous old coaching inn.
The building has undergone extensive renovation and many of the original features have been sympathetically restored, along with the old bar area downstairs, the upstairs is also in daily use with a fabulous aperitivo bar, open fires and sofas, an ideal place to relax after a hard day. We can also accommodate larger groups for everything from a family Sunday lunch to business meetings, wedding receptions to private wine tastings – and many other options too!
In addition to the fabulous interior features, we also have a large, sunny garden and patio area where food and drinks can be enjoyed al fresco all through the week!

We have been many times and really enjoy the ambience, food and service. It can be intimate or as much fun as you choose. Love this place and will keep going back.

LOVE this place & visit regularly! The food is wonderful..simple, authentic & SO tasty. Their Ragu is devine, teamed with the House Red Wine..followed by Affogato...HEAVEN! Highly recommend.

It’s a great place with good food and good wine. Slightly odd on a warm summer evening and on a Tuesday that they wouldn’t take the food order from the outside courtyard but wasn’t really an issue. Will go again!

As always, lovely food, warm atmosphere and attentive staff. Wish there was still seating area at front but cannot wait to visit GE when summer finally comes!

Never disappoints. Always good and the service was great. Worth visiting for a good Italian meal without having to travel into London.

Unfortunately, there is no heating in the restaurant and with a very small number of diners (6 on Tuesday evening), the place was freezing. One couple left early, one person sat with her coat on and in the end we succumbed and also sat with our coats on. Additionally, we were charged an additional £3 for small amount of vegetable to be added to the Penne Pasta dish. Whilst I do understand it dates back to the 16th century the heating does need to be addressed. Apparently it is a very common complaint.
