The waiters were great, and very attentive to us. Our friends from Mexico loved this place. The French onion soup is very good.

My friend and I sat down and looked at the menu and ordered fried calamari for an appetizer. It came with so much breading, that was all you could taste. We chipped the breading off and you could kind of taste the calamari. The only thing good I can say about this is that they were cooked very well. Not rubbery or stringy at all. I ordered the meatloaf with Cajun mashed potatoes and my friend ordered the “large” shrimp po boy with fries and a side order of onion rings. The “large” po boy had two overly breaded pieces of shrimp with a lot of sandwich bread. He didn’t eat it. My meatloaf was very mushy. I took my first bite and there was no chewing, it just spread out in my mouth. The waiter came by and asked how everything was and I pushed my fork down on the meatloaf and it turned into mush. He brought the manager over and showed him and they took it away. The Cajun mashed potatoes were cold had literally no seasoning. They were just cooked potatoes, mashed and put in a bowl. I could tell that they were cooked hours before. They were dry and kind of chunky. The only items I can say were good was the fries and onion rings. They were hot and fresh. They gave me a complimentary piece of cheesecake and even that was bad. The menu says that all desserts are made in house, but they’re definitely not fresh. From the texture of the cheesecake, I could tell that it had been made days earlier. We’ve lived in SMA for 3 years and had only been to the bar for cocktails. I’ll definitely go back for cocktails and maybe fries and onion rings, but will never dine there again.

Nice break from the usual Mexican food if you’re in town for a while. The bar is a happening place, and the bartenders are great.

Good menu. Well prepared food. Excellent service. Free bottle of wine with 2 entrees. We will be back!

Im a part time resident of San Miguel and I’ve walked by Hank’s many times but never tried it. I finally did and it was quite the treat. The food was exception, the service outstanding, and the atmosphere extremely pleasant. Try it, you won’t regret it.

We’ve been to Hanks the last two Mardi Gras and were surprised to see that they were taking reservations this year vía Open Table. We were asked which diningroom we wanted and got confirmation from the app for a table for 4 at 7:00pm. We then were asked the day before to confirm our reservation which we did and then were prompted by Open table again today that our reservation was in effect. When we arrived at Hanks we were sumarily turned away being told they were not taking reservations and had no tables available. We appealed to the manager who told us she would look into our situation but never returned. We will never return to Hanks for this or any other ocassion.

Overall very good experience. Waiter very accommodating to our friend’s special food needs. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
