Rib-eye steak was phenomenal! Food and service was outstanding. Will recommend to all our friends.
A lovely Sunday afternoon with wonderful service, Lydia was fabulous, professional and friendly. The Sunday Roast was excellent. The quality and freshness of the food was evident. The stylish surroundings made the whole dining experience a memorable occasion.
We were a family group of 6 ages ranging from 26 - 82 years of age. The food was delicious but the service was exceptioal. A thoroughly enjoyable experience, we will return
Food was expensive for portion size however steak was cooked to perfection.
My fiancé and I went here for our seven year anniversary. We were a bit confused by the menu but we’re given all the help we needed from our kind waiter! We ordered some desserts after a delicious steak and sides main course, and were delighted when the staff surprised us with free champagne and a personalised message on each of the desserts! Would not hesitate to recommend, the staff are amazing and made us feel very special!!
Always happy to go back
Fantastic food and great friendly service. The best steak we’ve had in a long time.
I wanted a quick and tasty steak and Hawksmoor Edinburgh as ever provided. I enjoyed a perfectly prepared steak from an excellent menu and the service was friendly and efficient.
Loved the sides and desserts were great. Steak was not the best cut considering the price and lacking atmosphere within the venue for a Saturday night. Could do with something on the walls/revised lighting and some softer music. Overall slightly disappointed given the price point - quite a few steak restaurants in Edinburgh with a better layout and overall experience. Wouldn't rush back in all honesty.
We had an amazing meal Served by incredibly friendly staff. The steaks were done to perfection. We had the early dining selection £25 for 2 courses or £28 for 3 courses. I had the Yorkshire pudding and potted meat starter and it was fantastic. We definitely will go back again especially for a special occasion
Amazing Dodd in a stunning location!
Did not like the setting no windows and entered down a lane
Staff all dressed in own clothes did not know who was serving or not
Service poor all staff standing chatting
Great steak but the accompaniements made it really special - amazing gravy, chips, homemade ketchup. Fab service!
Room was quite cold. Some food was re-heated & waitress disappeared when we tried to pay bill.
Full of families so would definitely not recommend for a quiet date night or couples’ celebration. The food was excellent but felt we paid for first-class food in the wrong atmosphere, so not worth the money. Our drinks order was forgotten and it was difficult to catch the attention of the waiters. Maybe we were seated in the wrong section? Dissapointing for a birthday meal.
Has Great cocktails and steak as ever with Hawksmoor.
Very good but ran out of affordable Rioja and Malbec.... otherwise a perfect start to the new year.
Efficient attentive and friendly service, good food excellent cocktails
Lovely food! Great service. The setting was stunning.
A gem in then heart of Edinburgh. Can't fault this place, staff is excellent, food is excellent, ambiance is great and comfortable. If you want to impress look no further.
Private dining room is awesome.
Really enjoyed the experience. Service was exemplary and the rump steak outstanding!Have no hesitation in recommending Hawksmoor.
Service was excellent and the food absolutely delicious. Been 3 times now and standard always high.
The food was delicious and the service very friendly and knowledgable about food and wine. Can get noisy when busy but a good buzz and a beautiful old interior.
Lovely building and delicious food, including a perfectly cooked steak. Staff were very friendly.
Food was excellent, and service even better!
Disappointing. I’d looked forward to visiting but I was rather disappointed. The food was ok, not bad but I’ve had better at the various other steak restaurants in Edinburgh. Not a massive cocktail selection and the service was slow with the waiter having to chase our drinks. Overall the atmosphere is cold, I don’t think you can be distracted from the fact it used to be a bank branch. The waiters we had were pleasant but who I assumed was the manager seemed a little pretentious which was off putting. There also isn’t an option on whether to leave a tip and the options given are just what percentage to leave. I won’t plan a return trip and wouldn’t recommend it either.
Very attentive and courteous staff, cocktails and main courses were lovely but we were disappointed with our desserts. The sticky toffee pudding was very treacly and in a pool of sauce. Too much. The pear dessert was also underwhelming and read better than it tasted. To be fair when we complained they were deducted from the bill
We also found the restaurant very noisy. It could do with some acoustic panels or fabrics to soften the noise.
We would return to this restaurant though.
I found the food to be lovely. The porterhouse steak was cooked to perfection. But I think that charging per 100grams works out to be expensive. For a steak to priced at £80 for something that would cost about £30 from a quality butcher. Especially when you still have to add accompaniments.
I also thought that I was being short changed with the drinks. Paying for a fresh orange and tonic was £4.75. Opening a small bottle of tonic and only receiving half the bottle. Also at £11.00 for a small glass of wine (175ml) was expensive in comparison to other similar establishments.
Food was fantastic but service was rather slow and given it was 2 days after Christmas the food options.. (Oysters and vegetables) were not available.
We had a lovely late lunch started with the beer and Yorkshire pudding and while the dish was really tasty the gravy was not warm so took a bit off the dish. We had fillet steaks and ribeye steak all cooked to perfection with mash and gravy so a really tasty meal. Again the mash could have been warmer but could not fault the steaks.
Very disappointing overall when compared with the London offerings. The food was ok, but the service was really (really) underwhelming and when you are leaving with a £200+ bill for 2 people you would reasonably expect good service. Atmosphere was sadly lacking as well, not as charming as some of the other buildings... probably won’t return.
the Fillet was good but a bit dry and salty. Not as good as it should be for the price. Service was excellent. Lovely space. Would probably get something less pricey if I came back.
Sunday lunch with friends before Christmas. Our party of 5 had a first class experience, enjoying great wines and fabuyfood everyone enjoyed their starters - my scallops were sublime- and we went on to share the Sunday roast, delicious.
Our wait staff were good fun and just the right level of involvement in making our overall experience great.
When they eventually had to take our table back- not that we were rushed- they recommended we move to the basement bar which is a great find and I will return again soon.
Not even close to being decent value for money, I’ve had Sunday lunch for 7-8 pounds that was better than this.
We had an excellent meal at Hawskmoor and I’d highly recommend it. It was also good value for money. We will definitely be back.
Felt restaurant lack any ambience and staff were disorganised and uninterested. Food was okay but many far better restaurants in Edinburgh.
Went to sample the Festive Burger and it was fabulous well worth a visit to try this let alone their outstanding Steaks
Food was good, but the service was slow. All people in party order from the EXPRESS menu - 2 courses. The first course was delivered fairly quickly after we ordered (approximately 15 minutes) however we waited another 45 minutes for the Second course to arrive after they cleared the table of the first course resulting In us having rush . They need to figure out the service timings. There was nothing EXPRESS in the service
