Location, charm, and service were all there.. the only thing lacking was quality of food. The menu choices were appealing, but execution of the dishes fell short. Perhaps it was an off night, will try once again during another season to allow for change.

Delicious beet, nut and shaved Brussel sprout salad with warm vinaigrette, great tenderloin, charming outdoor dining in the lit garden area.

We ate outside on the patio at 7:30 PM. With the misters going it was quite pleasant, even though the outdoor temperature was over 95 degrees. We ordered an the smoked wild boar appetizer, and it was excellent. The combination of a tart slaw with the sweet potatoes and pork, piled on a tortilla was perfect. The pousson chicken and salmon dishes were also excellent; we finished them both, which is unusual for us. Our son had the Ahi tuna sushi style dish and, while he boxed up what was left, he ate it for breakfast the next morning and said it was just as good. The mark of high quality food is being able to take it home and have it be as good or better the next day.

House of Tricks is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is superb. The service is great and the atmosphere is charming. It's well worth the price!

On a lazy Labor Day weekend, lunch at House of Tricks was a relaxing and delicious way to enjoy a late afternoon lunch. The menu is extensive and the items as good as they are described. The waitstaff was a pleasure with friendly, knowledgeable and excellent recommendations and attentive service. The ambiance is one of being at a country home but we are near the middle of downtown. That is something that can still happen in Tempe, AZ. We will be back.

House of Tricks is as wonderful as it has always been...since the day it opened. I've never been disappointed. The staffing is as outstanding as the food, too!

House of Tricks is a lovely setting with excellent service. Staff are attentive with a quick response to any request. Would definitely recommend for special occasion, date night or a pleasant setting for quality evening with family and or friends.
