   IM is one of our favorite izakaya's in town. The food is excellent, service if very friendly, and they have a good selection of sake's as well. Highly recommend this restaurant!

   The place is very cozy and can be easily missed if one is not familiar with the area. This is our 5th time here since we discovered it while passing through Young street 3 years ago. It is one of our favorite sashimi/sushi spot and omakase. The food is made to order with fresh ingredients and seasoned perfectly. The sashimi melts in your mouth and the Hokkaido uni is so tasty that I could taste the ocean’s essence in it! The staff were attentive, friendly and made us feel special when they served our dessert with birthday decoration and a candle. Their menu has a variety of choices that can please any palate craving for authentic Japanese food. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant and we’ll be back again.

   second time in this restaurant, last time maybe 15 plus years with my old girlfriend. Cozy place and we sat on the sushi bar.. izakaya place with lots to choose from, although the nigiri is pricy, the quality is top notch with any other place in town. so not a problem unless you want larger portions. Might ne better to sick to izakaya dishes next time i go back. some look good to eat, maybe next time..

   The service was not very good - though it was Valentine's day and it looked like they had takeout orders, which may have affected in-person service. The food was good, but incredibly overpriced - about $200 for two people, tip included - two beers and holding back on food, so didn't eat very much. Not awful, just overpriced. Also, they don't have paper menus. You have to hold your camera to a QR code and scroll through a difficult to interpret menu on your cell phone screen. I understand this became more prevalent once Covid hit, but now it's just tacky and detracts from the restaurant experience.

    Great sashimi and sushi! The warty rib eye and chicken karaage were also excellent! It’s a little gem and worth it. We love coming here.

    Outstanding food, service and ambience. Raw fish and oysters were extremely fresh. We also ate the crab salad, chawanmushi and yaki ika. Great variety of food.

    Food was really good, fish was fresh. Didn’t care for the sake in the uni and oyster shooter. Actually surprised me. It was unexpected and unpleasant. Definitely prefer without the sake. The hotate, uni and ankimo was my favorite and the chawanmushi was really good too. I would recommend Matsuri’s.

    This is a small restaurant off the beaten path, but I can see why it is popular. The night we went they had to turn away customers who did not have reservations. The food overall was outstanding, especially the fried tofu and the crispy roll. Service was fine. They have a limited selection of sake that's available, but a large possible menu (? supply chain issues). The seats were not particularly comfortable in the restaurant.

    We had great experience here. The food was absolutely good and the service was perfect. I asked for warm water and their staff made sure my mug was full throughout the whole dinner.

    Helpful guidance of menu items. Server brought an iPad so we can see items better and explain in detail the special features of noted items. Quick to remove dirty dishes without interrupting our conversations. Replenish our teapot quietly and when needed without prompting from us. Food was fresh, tasty, and high quality

    At first it was not a good experience. One of the waitress who met us at the door and then took us to our seat and then took our initial order was a rude, but the second waitress was very nice. From the time we ordered to the time we got our food took almost 40 minutes, but as the food came things got better. If the food wasn’t good the whole night would be a mood killer and a waste of time.

    Food was very good. Fresh and very tasty. Restaurant is very small with a dining time limit of 90 minutes which makes service a bit rushed and hectic.

    Restaurant a little ways back from Waikiki strip and so worth the trip. Quaint setting, helpful waitress and the sushi was fantastic! Thank you for your hospitality!

    This little Japanese restaurant in Honolulu is a hidden gem. Everything we ate was absolutely fantastic. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a high quality sushi/Japanese restaurant that is a little removed from the downtown Waikiki area.

    Matsuri is my go-to place when I get hungry for authentic Japanese food. I like their mirugai sashimi and oysters on a half shell with lovely topping. My young family likes karaage chicken and wafu steak, too. Their vegetable dishes are also very nicely done. It's unusual for a Japanese restaurant to have ong choy, but they do it very simply and it goes with everything. I often do take out. My favorite is omakase chirashi. We didn't order this time, but another fabulous dish they serve is their whole crab. It is served in ways that are very easy to eat and is fresh and delicious.

    Oooo...the Hokkaido Spiny Crab! Next, I have to try the Chirashi Omakase. The women servers were very polite and courteous....it's as if they are part owners....I love service staff hat portray this.

    Izakaya Matsuri is the place you need to go for an authentic Japanese meal in Honolulu. My Mom and I made a reservation at the recommendation of a friend. We were treated with grace and kindness and we had an amazing Omakase experience. The fish was fresh, high quality, and beautifully prepared. We splurged and also ordered the Hokkaido hairy crab - this was an amazing treat. I will be back on my next trip to Oahu.

    Crowded and lively atmosphere. We were seated at the counter without give the option of a table although there were many available. Servers did not mention that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary.
