In the Punjabi language, “Khaab” means dream. For Mavi, owner of Khaab Indian Kitchen & Bar, the name refers to a very personal journey.

Mavi dreamed of being a restaurant owner since his childhood. Working toward that dream for 15 years finally led to his ultimate goal of owning a restaurant. Now, when he welcomes guests to Khaab Indian Kitchen & Bar, Mavi can share his dream with them and share the flavors of his Punjabi roots.

Need more servers. It took awhile to get someone to take our order. The food was yummy.

We went here for an anniversary dinner, made reservations. We arrived on time and were offered a small table in the entryway or a table on the patio. We sat on the patio. Upon sitting, the table was dirty and we had to request that it be cleaned. The service was poor. It seemed like the patio tables were an afterthought; we had to ask for silverware, water refill, take home containers, our bill and dirty plates were not removed until I handed them to him. The food was average, we both have been in India before and know good, authentic Indian cuisine, and this fell short. My husband ordered a goat dish and it was more bones than meat. My chicken dish was also mostly sauce but the chicken was tender. However, the portions were not really enough. We ordered Naan. Not knowing the entree came with it so we had way too much, paying for some we didn’t eat. I feel like our server should have pointed out that Naan came with the meal The special drinks we good and the patio is nice, although my chair was positioned behind a brick column so it was a bit awkward. I didn’t think that we will be back as there are better Indian restaurants in Columbus

When you dine here you need to expect that Service is going to be very slow. They literally have one person who services the entire restaurant. And because it’s a smaller space it’s also very noisy. If you dine outside on their patio, I suspect it would be a lot quieter. However, Service may be even worse on the patio. We love Khaab, but we expect this when we go there. And takeout is always a great option.

Khaab is such a gem, easily the best Indian food in Columbus. Cocktails are surprisingly great too!
