Recommend by a friend and we are also happy to recommend
Each item we ate was outstanding. Great ambience and very helpful staff.
Good service and food
Such an amazing experience. All of the team where super friendly and helpful. Very understanding about dietary requirements
Tried the bent of Cod. Food was good.
Great food, great service, great wine list. A bit pricey, but worth it. Best to east at ground level and not downstairs for atmosphere!
Terrific evening meal at Kisume. Every dish on the tasting menu was great and the Sake was excellent.
Our first cocktails took 50m from been seated to come! We received two dishes before any drinks
For a special occasion this is the place - The food was delicious, the staff attentive and the drink selection vast. Highly recommend.
Great food...fresh, fresh and fresh.
Great, this restaunt made precious memory in our holiday. Thanks
We had a great meal at Kisume. We sat at the bar so could see the chefs work and the food was delicious. The service was at a good pace and friendly as well.
Highly recommend this place not only was the food was delicious but the staff are super friendly and attentive. I had a great birthday dinner.
Simply fantastic. The food was delicate and delicious and beautifully complimented by top service. Thank you
Really like the salmon feature! The ambience is great and the drinks are great.
Wondsrful setting, great watching the chefs prepare the dishes. Loved the fact it wasn't too noisy.
Sushi and sashimi in the Kisume special tasting menu was great, going back for the omakase tasting menu. However, seats are rather limited for the omakase.
Everything was great except our server took away a sushi box which still had one piece left.
O for Owesome! loved it and it was recommended by my sister Nicole. Great treat flying here to Melbourne
From the onset the service was extremely poor. The host gave us the impression she’d rather not be there, our first drinks order took well over 15 minutes to arrive ( a beer and a glass of wine), we were offered an explanation of the Omakase menu with no reference to an a la carte menu, concealed on the flip slide of the place mat. When we asked for assistance with the sake list, the server that was sent to us proceeded to read the tasting notes on the menu. When we requested a dry, ‘not sweet’ sake she recommended us an obviously sweet one. When we stated again that we did not like sweet style sake, she again insisted that her favourite one was only semi sweet, but also semi dry, and that it was the best on the list. We requested one that we then selected from the tasting notes along with her suggestion. It was completely sweet.
Service throughout the night was very poor. The ambience was vibeless for most of the night, spare the two 10 minute brackets where the music became super loud, like someone had bumped the volume; at least there was some vibe for those two intervals. Thankfully the food was mostly good. One very ordinary salad but the sushi was good. The clincher for the night was when one of the sushi chefs leant over to the other and said, loudly enough for us and the two couples either side of us to hear “ only one hour to go, we can do it “. Kind of summed up the entire night.
Food is average, services is average, staff were not attentive and warm, the staircase is weird with the glass wall.
Wonderful experience as always. A beautiful place with excellent service, personable yet professional and great food presented in a beautiful way. Definitely a must go in Melbourne
Great food, outstanding service.
The set menu was a great way to try all of the delisiousness. Incredibly flexible for peacatarians.
I was quite impressed with the place which provides upon arrival a great welcome from the Hostess who guided us to our table We immediately met our waitress who charmed us and offered a great knowledge of the wine selection Food was amazing and well explained with the contents Very generous with the servings and have raved about Kisume to all my friends and colleagues Can’t wait to visit again very soon Thank you for a great memorable night that launched us into the New Year
Delicious and innovative New Year's Eve dinner. Great service, although slow at times, excellent food, extensive (if expensive) wine list and delightful sake. Would go back in a heartbeat. Highlight was the sushi and sashimi box.
Maybe I have been spoilt by the service and fabulous dining experiences in Singapore, this restaurant was a disappointment from service to food. Would have expected sushi to come one by one and make sure they are freshly made if it wasn’t new year’s eve. Tenderloin was definitely over cooked and the outer part was so hard and dry. They even served 2 main dishes - fish and steak - all together. How would you expect the customer to enjoy them to the fullest? I wish next time would be a better experience.
5 stars for service but wow the food is overrated. The chefs all have amazing knife skills but no sense of flavour. The dishes look amazing with great presentation but the fusion they are trying just does not work. It is as though they have not tasted their menu. It is so bad I can't even begin to describe where they went wrong. For the price tag (which is very high) you expect a dining experience that you will treasure. But what you end up with is a mismatched plate that you would rather not finish. E.g. duck with olives and yuzu. Sounds good but just does not work. Also the duck is served raw... not rare just raw. Does taste fresh either because it is very chewy and hard to swallow. Fish is well presented here but again no flavour. Worst meal I have had in Melbourne. For a good $200 dinner, go anywhere else.
We came to Melbourne for a 5-day holiday and had meals at many of the "best" restaurants in the city - Kisume was by far our best meal and overall experience - from the food to the service, everything was exceptional - we could not have asked for a better dining experience! Thank you - we will be back!
Right from the greeting thru attentive and friendly assistance at the table to checkout, the service was outstanding. So too was the food....works of art, where the tastes blended beautifully. Left you feeling totally satisfied and not overfull.
Had the wagyu beef, sardines, gyoza and tuna with a sake flight and the dehydrated mandarin and chocolate mousse dessert....heaven!!
Amazing place if you’re a sushi or a japanese cuisine lover, we went there to celebrate our anniversary, everything was perfect from the food down to how attentive the servers were.
Best meal in our stay!
I have been to Kisume several times over the last few years. This time the food combination was a little wanting in the Omakase section.
Went there for the lunch with my girlfriend to celebrate 1 yr anniversary. I had teriyaki spatchcock lunch box and sake set. Spatchcock was great though, it didn't match well with others. Was too strong flavour and juice sauce which males me can't enjoy any other dishes. And two other side dishes were just ok quality. Been sprout had too hard skin. It was barely chewable and seasoned too much. Miso soup was almost tastes nothing. Tofu was very thinly sliced though, felt that was just showing off for Instagram or other SNS. What i expected was kind of decent meal though, it was much more like a snackpack that pair with a drink.
Especially as i seated in front of the chef's table, i had an great opportunity to watch those chef's skills. But they seemed pretty unpleasant, and kept complaining about their stocks. Maybe that's because i was a korean, i was able to understand all the chef's complaints through my whole meal, it wasn't a pleasant experience. Probably they just fit on the backside of the kitchen, not the front.
Great Japanese with mostly local ingredients - combines great Australian seafood with Japanese flair.
Perfect spot for a dinner date. Food was impeccable. The Sashimi was deliciously fresh and our waiter was knowledgeable and courteous.
Service was smooth and ran well. Solid dishes but nothing creative good solid basics the eye fillet with froie gras was exeptional, will go back again.
Absolutely amazing. Authentic yet creative cuisine that caters for everyone.
I haven't tasted sashimi like it, since I lived in Japan, clean fresh flavours that just melt in your mouth. Definitely my go to for special occasions and friends and family visiting from out of town.
Food was delicious and service was great. Would highly recommend.
Only negative for me personally, is they serve foie gras.
Loved it. Loved watching chef to her stuff. All staff friendly. Chablis spit on.
Thank you will tell all our Sydney friends and we will be back
