Lake Effect is Salt Lake City’s destination for cocktails, cuisine, and live music—all under one roof. Our bar program spans an extensive, ever-evolving menu, from seasonal house creations to modern classics, while the kitchen serves Latin-inspired dishes designed to complement the glass in your hand. Our Tin Can Nachos have earned a reputation of their own, but the menu ranges from shareable tapas to refined entrées that make dining here as memorable as drinking.
With three floors, each space carries its own character. Our main floor is open daily from 11am–1am, we serve brunch from 11am–4pm and dinner from 5pm–10pm. Every evening, live music fills the room—whether it’s jazz downstairs in the Rabbit Hole on Wednesday nights, acoustic sets on the main floor, or DJs upstairs in Church on the weekends. There's something for everyone here at Lake Effect.

Step into Christmas Town as Jack discovers a world filled with twinkling lights, holiday wonder, and his own wonderfully peculiar interpretation of Christmas. Enter the world of The Nightmare Before Christmas, an immersive seasonal experience where the story comes to life through imaginative cocktails, thoughtfully crafted food, and a setting designed to transport you into Christmas Town. Your $25 ticket includes admission to the experience and reserves your 90-minute seating. Food and cocktails are not included in the ticket price and are ordered separately during your reservation. Reservations are limited to 90 minutes, beginning at the scheduled reservation time. We encourage all guests to arrive promptly so you can enjoy the experience in its entirety. Wheat is higher in protein than the barley favored by brewers, which aids in the head retention and body of beer. American wheat styles are cleaner tasting with a light grainy flavor, while German Hefeweizens are favored for the banana/bubble gum and clove flavors produced by the yeast. Absolutely love this place. If you’re visiting from out of town or generally never have been, this is a must try. My wife and I go around once a month. Food is great and the drink menu is unreal and amazingly creative. Ambience is also second to none. Dewar was our server last night, and he was awesome. Perfect level of attentiveness and we never felt rushed, even with how busy it was for a Friday night. The one reason I gave 4 stars on service had NOTHING to do with Dewar. He was amazing, like I said. Last night we were running behind schedule, which was completely our fault, and as an intended courtesy, we called to let the restaurant know. Again, our running late was completely our fault, but when notifying the hostess who answered, she made us feel like we were total idiots because we were running late. Again, completely our fault, but that one minor detail put the smallest negative tone on the night before we even got there. That being said, everything was amazing, as expected. We will be back again in the coming weeks, for sure

My husband and I went to the nightmare before Christmas pop up bar. It was so incredible—one of the better themed Halloween pop up bars I’ve been to in Utah. The stories of the cocktails and the way they serve them was incredible. The themed food platters were so much fun and surprisingly delicious. Often you expect these pop ups to have mediocre food—this one was extremely tasty and fun themed.

Never coming here again. We waited twenty minutes to get our drinks. The beer I ordered was flat. The food was okay, but not worth the price. When we were finished, I literally had to get up and walk over to our server to ask for our check because we had been waiting so long for service. Unbelievable.

Went to the Nightmare Before Christmas Pop-Up Bar, which was downstairs, and we had to check our purses at the front. It was fabulously decorated and provided photo ops with the props. However, the dimmed lighting made it very hard to read the extravagant and themed menu. I needed to turn on my phone flashlight to read the menu. The cursive, thinned-lined ingredients of the drinks was the hardest to read. The Pumpkin King Sliders were delicious and were a great value! The Oogie Boogie drink was also very tasty and the presentation was spectacular. Plus, you get to keep the cup! I wasn't a fan of the Zero drink - it was very strong and I could only taste the tequila. Dr. Finklestein's Noodle and Kiss of the Deep were both very delicious and were generous portions, however the noodles could have used more seafood. I do not recommend the Aperol Spritz Pie. The texture and taste were off-putting. We didn't finish it. The service was great and accommodating. The couches were pretty far away from the tables, which made eating awkward because we both had to sit on the edge of the seat to reach. We asked for pillows and they were provided, but didn't seem to help much. Our table was accidentally cleared while we were taking photos, but we did get everything reset and were allowed extra time as the experience is for 90 minutes. Overall, we had a great experience, but the pie left a bad taste in our mouths right before leaving.

Lake Effect had a really impressive and innovative cocktail menu and lots of tasty food options. It is also incredibly cool. We visited twice and enjoyed our meals in the main area and in the speakeasy- esque Rabbit Hole. Service was great in both areas.
