Over dit restaurant

Taqueria Mal Pan is a modern Mexican experience. Our homestyle chef-driven menu is a combination of both the modern and classic Mexican kitchen. You’ll experience a menu with inspiration from Baja to Yucatan and everywhere in between. In step with the theme of our kitchen, the beverage program at Mal Pan is also inspired by the old and the new. Our back bar is filled with a curated list of artisan spirits from the US, Mexico, the Caribbean and beyond. Our weekend brunch is also one of the most unique in Charlotte featuring exclusive Pozole Tacos, Signature Steak & Eggs, Heirloom Blue Corn Buttermilk Pancakes and more.

We enjoy meeting up with our kids for Sunday Brunch or Dinner so we had a great time chatting and hanging out. We were excited to try the food. The food was just “ok”. None of us were overly impressed and barely finished our plates. The server was sweet and kind but she seemed to have too many tables. Our drinks took forever and the food even longer. The restaurant was beautiful and clean. The Mariachi was a plus as well.

We are regulars at Mal Pan, (We come for brunch about 1-2/month) because we love the chilaquiles, but today, they were dry, no sauce at all, just the dry blue corn tortilla chips topped with cheese. We asked for sauce so we could put on top. Also, the eggs were over cooked. Chilaquiles should never be served without sauce.(We are Mexicans). The sauce wasnt’t spicy but it had good flavor. Thank you, Lucia

There was a weird chemical smell when they brought out my enchiladas. I apprehensively tried a bite and it was completely off. It smelled and tasted like burnt plastic. It completely ruined our night and we didn’t trust the food anymore. We promptly got our check and left. We have small kids and don’t get out to dinner just the two of us, so this was such a bummer.

Always fresh ingredients prepared with attention to detail. The sweet potato taco is exceptional! I’m guessing it may get overlooked for more traditional/meat dishes but I recommend giving it a try.

I ordered Chilaquiles dish and hoping that I will have crispy purple chips and some refried black beans for lunch. The dish came out with salsa poured on top of the chips which made chips warp and soggy and there was not much refried black beans at all. It was very disappointing. The chips did not taste good at all.

Mal Pan is a pleasant surprise for our first visit and a gem of a restaurant in South Park. Stephanie was a pleasant and professional server. We appreciated Brad, the bartender’s, professionalism in coming to our table to check to see how my husband prefers his martini prepared. We enjoyed sitting on the covered patio with fans and seeing people enjoying walking around the neighborhood. The food was well prepared and with good sized portions. We are looking forward to returning!

Overcooked, rubbery shrimp ruined the meal. Also had to flag down server anytime I needed something.
