Beautiful food. Very attentive, helpful and professional service. Lovely atmosphere.
Service was amazing , truly was.
The waitresses where very lovely and kind
But I am very disappointing and disgusting .
I have been all over Australia and the world and eaten at amazing places and I found this to be one of the most grosses food I ever ate.
It was a shame.
Seriously good food. Monday night is a bit quiet but that is to be expected. Every dish was great. The standout was the smoked eggplant. Wow! Would definitely go back.
For those of you that struggle with visiting new places, the restaurant is up the stairs on the left.
From our welcome, to the delightful and quirky menu we had a great time. My friend and I explored the vegetarian options. This is a restaurant that encourages sharing courses. The mushroom cigars were light and tasty. The kale and coconut with lemon was a curious choice, but flavoursome. The highlight was the potatoes.
The food is good to excellent depending on the dish but, if you are going to market yourself as fine dining, you really need to up your service game a lot. We came to an empty lobby and the first server didn’t even greet us when we arrived. The next server noticed us and showed us to our table. Only 9 tables were seated but it still took a long tine to be served so we couldn’t order any pre-drinks. We ordered the degustation and the dishes were good to excellent, but one server was crabby and didn’t explain anything just dumped the plates and scampered off. The other server was a lot more well-mannered. Luckily we had a gift voucher so we didn’t pay full price for poor service.
The ambience was lovely, and the live piano player just gave it that extra touch. The noise level was a bit loud at times making it difficult to have conversations, but that is being pick as the food and cocktails far exceeded our expectations which is why we were so disappointed with the dessert.
Good spot to have one of those special meals. Fine dining.... we have been here often when in Brisbane for a weekend getaway. Always been good. Sometimes they miss a bit on the food, I had Wague but was likely the lowest grade. So think we’ll before you choose from the menu. $$$$ menu so be prepared..
Came with a colleague for some drinks downstairs followed by dinner. Malt lager on tap was excellent, then moved upstairs for the mains - friendly service, meals served at appropriate times and very tasty.
Amazing food and service. Eggplant dumplings are to die for. Awesome bar for a drink before / after dinner.
Brilliant for entertaining professional clients and colleagues.
Celebrated a family members 50th over dinner. Had a lovely dinner overall. Missing a few elements throughout our dining experience. Would like to go back and try again sometime in the future. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Ambiance was the best element of the night.
Amazing food, excellent service and wonderful atmosphere :)
New favourite restaurant in Brisbane!
I love this restaurant. The food is amazing and great service. The ambiance is beautiful with live piano and heritage vibe.
Good location, spacious, comfortable setup, not noisy, very good for a business lunch. Food is very good and service is friendly.
Such flavoursome food. Great ambience, staff and wine list. Would definitely come back here again
Highly recommend! The food was delicious, the service was amazing. All round great experience.
Great good, great service and lovely environment. Would go back again. Best restaurant in Brisbane!
I had received a call to confirm a 50 aud deal for Champagne and gift plus a 6 course fixed menu .i did. Confirm the champagne and gift deal but I hadn’t confirmed if I needed ala carte or 6 course menu ..
when we reached there they assigned a table after some confusion and then removed champagne glasses and rose from the table before we took the seat...I figured they had messed the request.Would be weird to stop them doing that as it was Valentine’s Day so I kept quiet .. I didn’t pay for the deal promised but it was a let down !
Food was good (duck I didn’t like as much -felt salty) and drinks were good as well.
Was noisy from the kitchen side ! I can understand in the attic it could get noisy as it was packed with people but kitchen chef went on calling for service which was clearly audible from where I was seated time and again !
It was just alright. The food is great but the service and the ambience let the food down. Every meal we ordered, the server gave the wrong person the wrong meal.... and there were just two of us. I ordered the octopus, husband ordered the zucchini. With zero interest in doing their job right, I was given zucchini and husband was handed my octopus. Later when I ordered beef, my husband ordered the fish, the server assumed the woman ordered the fish and the guy ordered the beef. Honestly, this was annoying. Later, we were asked if we wanted another drink. After my husband ordered his beer, the server dashed off before even taking my wine order. The food was delicious but the weird paint on the walls upstairs makes the place look cheaper than it is and the amateur hour service lets the chef down a bit. If they could sort out the decor and the staff, they’d have a great thing going.
Loved our evening at Malt, from the beautiful exposed beams and brickwork, view out to the leaves of a tree and tall buildings, attentive service, comfy chair to the amazing chargrilled cauliflower, braised octopus and pork jowl with pineapple. Not sold on pork floss with coconut pannacotta but glad we tried it! Malt brownie was the “best dessert I’ve ever had” according to my husband.
Malt Dining keeps on delivering. The food is fantastic, they have a great wine list, and it is idea for vegans and coeliacs alike... even meat eaters will love the vegan dishes. Fantastic job guys.
I have been to Malt Dining several times and I was utterly disappointed this time. I came with my work colleagues to celebrate a milestone for one of my employees. When we arrived there was nobody at the restaurant to seat you. I had to go behind the bar to call someone. Once someone arrived, they were rude, unhelpful and arrogant. Never coming here again.
Truly delicious food and wonderful service. We enjoyed the live pianist.
Overall very good. Just a bit slow with bringing our meals We were voluntarily compensated with a free canapee.
Nice atmosphere with the live music. Great service, food was ok. Usually better.
It was our anniversary, so when we arrived our table had a card congratulating us on our anniversary. The highlight of the night was the pianist player. It created a calm, intimate and warm atmosphere for the night. Food was outstanding. Incredible!!!! And staff were nice and polite.
The new chef's asian fusion menu was a disaster. It was fantastic execution on stupid tragic ideas. Daikon noodle is soaked in beautiful broth but the noodle itself doesn't make any sense. The bak choy side dish was sour because they chopped the bak choy too thin and overcooked it. The flavor was bazaar when having it with the salami puree. The texture is hard to swallow. They also put pork floss on panna cotta for different texture according to their explanation. That's just gross. When the floss soaks in the sweet sauce, it tastes so weird. Why don't they just put hair on a pudding? It's disgusting and also gives a different texture to the dish.
But the beef cheek and pork were pretty good because they didn't apply any stupid idea.
Please stick to the previous menu.
It was nice, it was delicate, it worked before, and it will work in the future.
The staff were fabulous and the food was good. Loved the live piano player and the decor made you feel like you could be over in Europe. We had a great night.
I'll be back! Excellent food. Excellent cocktails. Quiet setting near the water. Perfect for a business meeting or weekend brunch.
Excellent! Great service and food was delicious! I would recommend for lunch and dinner.
Had the degustation. It was not as good as last time we ate here which was disappointing. A little turned off by the $15 corkage if you don’t buy your wine from their own bottle shop.
Always well prepared and thought out dishes. The Malt Brownie is worth saving room for
Swordfish stank like day-old prawns, but tasted so bland. It was served on raspberry yoghurt too.
Venue smelt like an old library, you know that dank carpet smell?
No need to return.
What we ordered: swordfish, potatoes, vodka and tap water.
I had a lovely lunch. The menu is small but well done. The fish of the day was snapper and cooked to perfection. I had the cheese of the day and it was awesome. Service was good as well considering there was only one person serving. I didn't have to wait for anything and she was very knowledgeable about the food and wine menu.
Not a big fan of the new menu. Heard the chef was trying an asian fusion.
We have been to Malt quite a few times and have thoroughly enjoyed the food and the experience. Unfortunately the new menu was underwhelming and definitely not suitable for my husband who has a seafood allergy. Even the Beef Cheeks had Oyster Sauce in the marinade. We both had trouble choosing meals from the extremely limited menu. The waitress was very nice and quite efficient. We easily chose a very nice wine from the extensive wine list. We were obviously not happy with our meals and were given a free dessert to compensate. The dessert was the chocolate brownie from their old menu and it was delicious but this won't encourage us to return anytime soon.
Absolutely superb! Exceeded our expectations. Have been once before for mother’s day and didn’t think it could have gotten any better! Thanks so much for the great service.
We went on a Tuesday night, were able to purchase a lovely pinor from the trading shop to enjoy with dinner. We have been several times and rate this Brisbane's best restaurant.
What a great place to start and finish the night. Awesome drinks and even better food.
The food and service in Malt is just simply the best, had a great night celebrating with friends
