Great service from the team at the Mercer roof terrace
I was attracted to the set lunch menu advertised on Opentable, which included steak (a favourite of my guest). It was not described as a sample, but when we arrived there was a different menu offered. The steak dish was replaced by a pork dish, which is not considered an equivalent in most restaurants. So don't be deceived by the menu listed!
We were also given a list of dishes that weren't available, including the vegetarian dish on the set menu. My guest chose the replacement, a mushroom risotto. I chose the seabass, but when it arrived it was dry and the serving overall looked drab and unappetising. It was replaced with fish & chips after I complained. The desserts we had were pretty average.
In summary, we paid £29.50 each for a basic mushroom risotto and fish & chips, with two mediocre desserts. The restaurant was noisy, but the ambiance and service was OK.
There are far better choices in the City at this price or less, so I will not be returning.
An excellent lunch. Friendly service and good food. A little pricey, but their set lunch menu was excellent value.
The meal was lovely even though it did take a while to get to us. I however did notice that the table next to us had one more cake on the top tier of their afternoon tea. Refilling the last cup of tea was just hot water and no longer new tea. Otherwise, service was nice and the ambience was good since it was quite quiet.
The food was generally average to poor. I had Monkfish and it was overcooked both watery and pasty. New potatoes had that separated recooked dry skin. Poor for the price. Group of ladies in having a great time, cackling away for all they were worth. Glad they were enjoying themselves but needed to be toned down a few octaves.
My first visit and my last. Must be the worst result for any Restaurant. Just goes to show how tough the restaurant trade is. Take your eye the ball for one minute...
For a drink it s a nice. Place the food was not to our satisfaction
Such attentive service from the minute we got there. One of the best afternoon teas I've ever had. A quirky menu with the little touches made it extra special in a gorgeous setting. The chef went above and beyond to please us. I really couldn't recommend this place anymore, I can't wait to go back!!
Amazing food, incredible service, outstanding location. Ticks all the boxes
Lovely business lunch at the Mercer Roof Terrace. It is part of a hotel, and you need to take a lift to the top. The view is great, and we thought service was impeccable. Nice new place.
This was our second consecutive meal here during a weekend break in London. The staff were again excellent, even remembering what we had had the night before, and helpful in the extreme.
The staff were all very attentive and helpful. The view from our window table was very atmospheric
Very overhyped-this is a basic hotel restaurant which in the summer has an outdoor terrace.sadly 3-4 menu items (menu is not long) were not available “due to a big lunch crowd” apparently! Food was OK but same can be found in many more intimate, non hotel settings.
Small hotel restaurant off the beaten track. Really delicious food very nice polite service.
Beautiful setting and fantastic waiting staff - very attentive, polite and conversational. Food was good but felt very expensive for what it was. We enjoyed our lunch though!
Lovely food and service
First visit here, and it would be good to visit on a really sunny day and you can then sit out, they have heaters too and you get a good view of the South Bank and St Paul's. Good food deal on Saturday, and food portions were very generous. We had one lunch from the set lunch menu the starter of soup with welsh rarebit, was filling and delicious. Main meal of Pork Chop again very well cooked. The Halibut off the main menu was perfectly cooked. Nice dessert menu if you have room. Food reasonably priced and very good quality. Attentive staff and a nice pause between courses. Well worth a visit.
First visit to this restaurant. Read good reviews so thought I would give it a go.
Fantastic views across the City.
We had the lunch special menu which was great value and the food was fantastic.
Will definitely be returning.
Ordered the grilled octopus – extremely tough and difficult to chew.
Waiters upselling each dish
Nice views
Great food, great service and experience. I will definitely be back in the summer when the roof terrace (outside) must be wonderful!
Very good food and service from the waiter’s team. We had a great time
Great venue-would be especially light and airy during the summer . Food good but not exceptional
Always a pleasure to go . service is good, food is very good and the menu changes on a regular basis.
The location is fantastic, as was the ambiance and service. However the food was pretty mediocre and overpriced for what it was.
We really enjoyed lunch, the food was great, the service outstanding
This is a fairly new restaurant in a boutique hotel and a little tucked away. It's great that they have a rooftop. It's a bit quite compared to other rooftops in the area. Food was okay.. nothing spectacular. I think they are going through some new venue growing pains.
Amazing location, fabulous service and excellent food plus wonderful weather made a memorable occasion.
Great food, location, ambiance, service. Perfect!!
setting is brilliant, service is less than fair. food - pretty good but cooking by numbers.
Ambiance is amazing -- love the roof terrace. One of my favourite places to bring clients, as it has a lovely view and is quiet. However I have been disappointed with the food on the three occasions I have been there. Steak and pork dishes come dry despite being ordered as Medium. I highly recommend the asparagus -- it's lovely! Service is ok -- received warm welcome, but once at table the service was not great etiquette wise. When provided suggestions for wines we were not offered the chance to try the wines before choosing. When our mains arrived, our sides did not arrive at the same time -- they arrive very much later. These all minor, but overall, great place but some dishes need reviewing.
Excellent City location for alfresco dining, everything you would expect from a slh.
Great place for a romantic dinner, lovely food and great service
Good food, great service. Could do with a few more vegetarian options on the menu.
Great venue, tasty food, service was a bit slow though.
Can’t really fault it. We had glorious weather and this was the perfect spot for it. Quieter and more elegant than the Madissons and Aviarys in the city in terms of decor and clientelle. Food and service great. It’s my fav roof top in the City now easy.
Nice rooftop setting. Food was good but expensive. Service was a bit slow.
A beautiful roof terrace with lovely views of the city. Very good service to begin with but it faded during the meal and we have to chase up the bill in the end. The set menu was good. A lovely boutique hotel vibe.
Great food, great service and a wonderful location tucked away in the heart of the city!
Fab food and staff but the room didn’t lend itself to an ambient atmosphere. The way the room was constructed meant it was very, very noisy and we had to shout to hear each other. Rather like being in a club... shame as the atmosphere, staff and food were great.
Food was really good as well as service! The ambient was a bit loud in the conservatory, thought possibly affected primarily by the fact that the windows were closed due to the rainy weather. Overall though nice experience, would definitely recommend!
Love this place - lovely ambience and setting. Food was great and so is the service!
