Afternoon Tea: £40 - Add champagne for £10
The Ned is a stunning hotel located in The City, the oldest part of London. Previously the disused Midland Bank Building, The Ned is a spectacular piece of architecture featuring incredible high ceilings and opulent decor.
Afternoon Tea is a luxurious affair, served in Millie's Lounge in the Grand Banking Hall. Paying tribute to the building's history as a bank, Millie's Lounge features plush seating and green marble pillars.

Average food, rushed as had to wait half an hour for our main to arrive.
Staff friendly and impressive surroundings
Pricey for what it is- other restaurants at the Ned are better. Service is good and people are nice. I had the vegi options and they lacked flavour, only come here if you want the seafood or meat options. My friend had steak which was burnt. Staff were lovely about replacing it and removing it from the bill. The lamb was very good. All in all, it's just not all that- not worth the money. It's just ok
Sooo good to went there! I want to go to The ned again.
Good service. prompt and efficient. Great Xmas atmosphere.
The NED is a beautiful place, with great style. However, it was overrun with drunken and excessively loud Christmas partygoers. I was trying to impress clients but we wound up cutting the dinner short. Ideal for breakfast and lunch but forget dinner if you want to impress.
Terrible food - had chicken curry with three miserable pieces of chicken and the rest was sauce. Noise far too high - I guess ok for a drink but not dinner - and we were 3 friends with loud voices but could hardly hear each other.
Food was nice and it is a nice venue (the old Midland Bank banking hall). I had the eggs Royale though my poached eggs were, at best, warm. I prefer it hot so that the temperature contrasts with the salmon when I break into the egg. I suspect this may be a result of the kitchen being busy and trying to prepare the order to be delivered simultaneously at my table (c'est la vie!). My colleague also thought the kedghree had a re-heatedness about it (though taste was okay he said). Everyone was happy/satisfied i.e. 4/5 and I would probably go back to try the other restaurants at the Ned and probably Millie's at some stage.
The waiter was fantastic! The food was perfect!
Our starters , main courses and dessert were wonderful.
Rubbish customer service at the front desk and the person taking our bill. Only good customer service was our food and beverage waiter.
Food was okay but the scones were tiny and flat!
Went for my friends birthday was a lovely experience and great music :)
Loved Millie's Lounge at the Ned.
Great service and food, highly recommend!!
Perfect venue great atmosphere and service and food
Lovely venue and ambience. It was a Friday afternoon and the bar got very busy and loud where we were sitting. Fab live band on though. Food was average. The battered fish was overcooked - the batter was hard. Would visit again but would eat at one of the other restaurants
I booked this afternoon tea about 3 weeks ago and when I looked on the website it was £30 for the afternoon tea and £40 with a glass of champagne. I was going with a friend to celebrate our birthdays. When we sat down and got the afternoon tea menu because it was December it had changed to a festive afternoon tea and the price jumped up £10. I can’t see what would have been massively different maybe the turkey and cranberry finger sandwich and the Christmas tree miniature cheese cake so was a bit disappointed that I had to pay £10 extra just cause it was the month of December. Was a still lovey though and the champagne glass was beautiful and our waitress was super and they refill the sandwiches, maybe we should have been pre-warned the price increase on time of booking
Food was excellent, the wine list better and the service was the best. Well done Millies 😀
We had a delightful brunch - not rushed at all. Good value. Live music from the bandstand in the centre. Would definitely recommend.
Millie’s is a wonderful place to have dinner. Food is fantastic and service attentive.
Only slight downside is that it is noisy and anyone hard of hearing will struggle.
Unfortunately the food was really bad. I love The Ned, but genuinely felt sick for 24 hours after eating at Millie's.
Really top quality food in the lovely Ned environment.
Very nice. Low style chairs made sitting forward to eat not ideal for aged customers.
Expensive but excellent. Great staff. Loved the live music, but the acoustics of the large space made it too invasive
Very unimpressed with the service. Had to fight to get the offer booked via opentable honoured. The replenished sandwiches took 30 mins to arrive and when arrived, were terribly presented and using stale bread!!
Furthermore, they were lots of people from the bar just leaning on our table.
The Ned is amazing, the decor is beautiful and I always feel like I’m in New York in the incredible 24/7 ambience of fun & class. However the staff did remind us 4 times we only had our table for two hours, which is annoying when you pay a lot of money and want to relax. Also the food at Millie’s is average. The best bit about coming here is the atmosphere!
Great atmosphere and ambiance
Staff were first class couldn’t do enough for us
Made a birthday lunch very enjoyable
Great venue for breakfast or indeed any time. Staff are lovely, food great.
Service was fair, ambience was also ok. The food was below average - the turkey was dry. Decent wine list but at £115/person definitely not value for money. The end of our visit was made unpleasant by rude and poorly-trained floor personnel. At 7.05pm I was asked to vacate a 4-seater in the eating area because of another booking at 7pm. I was reminded again at 7.06pm. This is unacceptable. If you have a booking at 7pm you must inform me at 6.45pm that I have 15 minutes to vacate the table. Poor customer experience. I shall not be returning. I shall not be recommending this place to anyone either
Slow service - we asked the waiter to come back in two minutes for the order. We had to chase them again after fifteen minutes.
We had a great experience at the hands of Jack and his team. Food was great and the service was excellent. Looking forward to my next visit to Millie's Lounge.
Breakfast with my mum
We had a lovely breakfast as part of a weekend birthday celebration. We brought a 7-month old who had their own seat and had a wonderful time. Amazing food and fantastic service. Thank you!
The food and drinks were fantastic.
The only downside was the service, the waitress we had on our table was quite pushy and tried to speed us along through the meal.
After our mains, we decided to go outside and get some fresh air. We let the waitress know and she consisted to tell us we needed to order desserts and we wouldn't have the table for much longer. Baring in mind we had only been there for 45 minutes, ordered two mains and bottle of wine and we' re planning on staying for drinks afterwards. I then told her the table next to us had been there before we even got there, and she replied in saying it was a table of four, so they can stay longer.
I felt her approach come across pushy and lacked high level of service, just because we are table of 2 doesn't mean the level of service should be any different. we still spent over 120 pounds.
I've been to the ned many times, and I've always had a great level of service. It was a dissipating experience and it was bit rubbish to feel less important and rushed out of their.
Mediocre food at City prices, but great atmosphere especially with the live music. Its a good location right next to Bank tube so easy to get to. There's a choice of bars / eats, so a bit of variety on offer. We got moved on from our table each time, either for next guests or Ned members, so didn't feel that valued having spent over £150.
Poor food.l, o
Overrated venue with no atmosphere.
Food and service was great however the place is too loud with people standing right next to you at the bar plus live music (which was nice) we could hardly hear each other. I actually had to move my chair closer to where my partner was sitting to have a decent conversation.
Good food, great atmosphere but the service was questionable. They were super busy, but slightly rude and abrupt.
Food service and ambiance were all exceptional looking forward to returning very soon
A great atmosphere good food only let down by having to wait a long time for service throughout
Our waitress was really good, the music was the right level and food good
Amazing food and a wonderful atmosphere would definitely recommend.
Been to millies lounge half a dozen times now & never disappoints ,good food , service, and really nice to listen to the live music while dining.
