What once was the site of one of Canada’s largest military camps is now home to something new. Located in Signal Hill, New Camp’s name pays tribute to Sarcee Camp and the 50,000 WWI soldiers who trained there. Brought to you by prolific Calgary/Cochrane restaurateur Tony Nicastro (whose last name actually means ‘new camp’), New Camp Bar & Table is premium casual establishment focused on great food and guest experience.

Such a great patio, lots of shade with the umbrellas. Sat on the patio yesterday but often sit inside too on other days. Very comfortable restaurant. Food is very tasty. Service is great.

The staff were excellent. Friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the meal. They did everything they were supposed to do, and they deserve full credit. The food was the complete opposite. Everything we ordered was cooked properly and edible, but it was incredibly bland and uninspired. It tasted like the kitchen was focused on simply getting food onto the plate rather than producing something that people would actually remember or want to come back for. There was almost no depth of flavour, seasoning, or creativity. The biggest issue is value. After tax and tip, this meal came to roughly $200. At that price, customers expect quality ingredients, generous portions, and food with real flavour. Instead, we received a meal that felt average at best. Restaurants can’t keep increasing prices while simultaneously reducing the overall value. Whether it’s ingredient quality, portion size, or execution, something has to justify the cost. If you’re charging premium prices, you need to deliver a premium dining experience. I have no complaints about the service. The staff earned five stars. Unfortunately, the kitchen did not. I left feeling like I paid restaurant prices for food that was forgettable, and that’s disappointing.

Food is excellent here, much better than standard pub food. Atmosphere is kind of bland (and not very busy for a Friday), but server was super chill, friendly, and engaging. Chili mushroom appetizer was fantastic. Happy hour pricing is solid here.

Sorry but the chicken was over cooked. No condiments on table, really minor stuff but salt and pepper are essential I believe. Too bad but overall just sort of average. Other times the service and food were spot on.

We sat on the patio and had a lovely waitress, who was very personable and knowledgable about the menu. The fish and chips were not greasy, and the french fries were crispy. However, the coleslaw side was more of a garnish.
