Fantastic restaurant! The service was excellent, the interior is lovely, the food was delicious and also decorated and presented wonderfully! We would go back any time!!!
Food was tasty but plain. Cheese cake generous and scrumptious. On the expensive side for very limited choice. Great service and yes we will go back
My daughter was grumpy with everything and everyone, the staff were brilliant with her. She eventually managed to eat something and said that the beef cheeks were like butter. Beautiful.
Thank you for such a nice review. We are delighted your daughter liked the food. We are trying to satisfy every one of each even the youngest ones at our restaurant. This is our aim to leave a smile on your face and full tummy as well.
My wife and I were looking for a restaurant which served quality 'home-cooked' food and Platzki turned out to be a great find. The only reason I haven't given five stars across the board was because one of the starters and one of the main courses was definitely better than the other, but, given how good the other starter and main course were and how awesome the cheesecake was, I'm probably being a bit tough. We will definitely return the next time we're in Manchester!
Very nice and delicious home made meals, but a bit expensive in my opinion.
Expensive and small main course portions. Very few options. Staff and decoration nice.
Thank you very much for the review. We are so sorry that we didn't manage your expectations but we hope you liked the food. Please visit our Facebook page to see our new menu (which is changing twice a week). If there will be anything you like, please contact us for booking and we will make our best to satisfy your taste.
Great food and a delay in traffic meant we were late. When I telephoned they were able to hold my reservation so that we could enjoy their delicious food.
Thank you very much for such a great review. We are always trying best to satisfy our customers. Thank you for the 5 stars review and hope to see you soon!
Very welcoming and friendly staff the service was excellent as was the food.
We love the place
I was very happy to be able to book through Open Table to secure a table for a Saturday evening. The restaurant is a little tricky to find, up some stairs off Deansgate, turn right at the top. But it's lovely when you get there, with a homely, welcoming feel. The waiting staff were both excellent - friendly, helpful and efficient. The menu was limited but changes regularly, and there was certainly an option for everyone with about 6 starters and 6 mains. We tried the polish sausage, and the Baltic marinated herring to start - both were excellent. Our mains were duck with dumplings and ox cheeks with a plum sauce on mash ( fennel I think). Both were beautifully cooked and presented but the ox cheeks were tastier. The desserts all look amazing and we shared a cheesecake with fudge topping which was actually the highlight of the meal. 2 starters, 2 mains, shared dessert, bottle of wine (£19) and a beer and a coffee came to just over £80.00. Very fair value for an excellent evening.
We absolutely loved it! Great food, drinks, atmosphere, staff. Can't wait to go back!
What a great experience, lovely food with wonderful service
Today I happened upon a Polish restaurant called Platzki in Manchester’s Great Northern building on the second floor.
There was no signage on the front of the building, but I arrived after booking my reservation online, just as they were opening at Noon.
I was greeted immediately and seated by the front window, looking out at passersby. The ambience was very traditional and felt comfortable like a kitchen in a home. There were cabinets full of Eastern European dishes, teapots and small plates, with cooking pans hanging behind the countertop. There were books to read while eating atop the shelf in both English and Polish, modern Polish music playing, the chef hand-making both meat and vegetarian pierogis by the dozens. Behind my table was a buffet topped with a beautiful assortment of apple crumb cake, chocolate and vanilla cheesecakes with several fresh fruits, including strawberries, raspberries and diced apples for the side.
I have been in Manchester twice before and am a true foodie. I travel the world for work and eat in high-end restaurants, some Michelin Star, as well as everyday spots, including local cuisine everywhere I go; street food, too.
Upon sitting down, the server told me about today’s special soup being split pea. I ordered and I’m so glad I did! Every single flavor today was better than the one before. From the two pots of hot cranberry tea, to the split-pea soup of the day, the meat, tomato and onion pierogi dish with sauerkraut salad on the side...I could not have had better. The beautiful soup and pierogi presentations were in line with the top-tier spots I eat at in Shanghai, Tokyo, Colorado or Dresden. I’m stunned to be honest; that this place I just happened upon and without signage above the door, could be so delicious and an absolutely amazing experience.
I will fly back to eat here again. You should as well, as the service and food are perfect. Thanks to Platzki for one of the best lunches I’ve come across in all these years.
Loved the entire experience. Although I enjoyed the food and drinks I felt it was slightly overpriced. £60 for two people had me slightly surprised but that does not mean I wouldn't go again, just infrequently
The food was absolutely delicious and you get a huge amount for your money. Lovely ambience, like a family kitchen/dining room. You can see your food being prepared (which always makes me feel confident about the quality). Our waitress was lovely and smiley and couldn't do enough for us. My friend is lactose intolerant and rather than just tell her what she can and can't eat they modified the dish she wanted. Outstanding place, I'll definitely be back!
This was a return booking for a pre-concert meal. Much quieter when we arrived than last time but picked up later. Friendly staff who explained the menu - we shared pierogi of the day (a pork & herb filling) & then had one schnitzel & one stew - all delicious . We finished with a strawberry yoghurt cheesecake and a chocolate cheesecake with berries & some strong coffee. Fab again and great value for 3 courses for 2. Thanks
I’ve never tried Polish cuisine before and don't think it’s for me. The food was edible but almost felt like a recipe experiment gone wrong at home or something made up of random ingredients you had in the cupboard e.g. beetroot sauce on an eclair; deep fried mushrooms on some sort of paste with crisps on top. Ambience, service and wine were all good, but I need the food to be better to rebook.
Nice to see something different. Interesting food and place.
Thank you NancyM for that review. We appreciate every comment from our customers. We are delighted that you enjoyed our restaurant. PLATZKI
Food was very inventive but meat was of average quality. That said prices were very reasonable so no complaints there. Would definitely try again with the changes to the menu on such a regular basis - just make sure i order the right things!!
Food was excellent and service was very good. It’s hard to find something a little different and this definitely does some interesting flavours. We will be back.
Thank you ReginaldA for such a nice review. It is always a pleasure to read positive comments from our customers. Hope to see you soon again. Please do not hesitate to contact us for bookings. PLATZKI
There were 5 of us; 2 were late, arriving at different times, no problem, the server took our orders as we came. There was music on, but not too loud; not many people in but we felt relaxed and comfortable chatting while we waited for our food. Service was attentive but not in the least pushy.
All the different dishes we had were beautifully presented, tasty and enjoyable. We would go again to try other dishes from the menu.
The price was very reasonable, £70 including drinks for the 5 of us. You could easily find other places where you would pay much more for less interesting and less well-cooked food.
Lovely place, friendly staff and tasty food. What more could you want?
Really enjoyed the food. Perhaps a little expensive.
Dear GarethN Thank you so much for the review. Hope you enjoyed our cosy restaurant and we are glad you enjoyed the food as well.
Awesome food and service, excellent dinner there! Kudos to the team
Thank you LiyongLow for the review. We are glad you enjoyed our cosy restaurant and food as well. Hope to see you soon again. PLATZKI
Soup was fantastic when it came, as they got my order mixed up and brought 1 soup with a main meal when I asked for 2 soups when the main meals did come afterwards, I think they had just warmed the meal they brought with the starter as it was very dry. I would go back for the soup but not the schnitzel...
Took my sister for lunch and both enjoyed the dinning experience.Nice vibe to the place, serving super freshly cooked food hence the smallish menu.Nice cool jazz playing in the background and the staff were wonderful especially Ewelina who served us.Toilets just a few metres away from the restaurant hence 4 not 5 🌟's but no great hardship.Look forward to my next visit, hopefully in the not too distant future.
Thank you so much PeterA for such an amazing review. We do appreciate all comments from our customers. We are delighted that you enjoyed the atmosphere and that our staff made your day. We are doing our best to make customers satisfied visiting our restaurant. Please do not hesitate if you have any questions or would like to book a table with us. PLATZKI
It is overated. The dishes are quite expensive for what they taste. The service and environment were very good.
Thank you FloraC for the review. We appreciate that you liked the environment and our customer service. May be next time our menu will find your taste hopefully.
Exceptional eating experience..the food and the service were great
..very different and unlike other European fare....will go again

Great food and service was good limited menu but the food was excellent great value for money, will be revisiting soon to try the dumplings or even the taster menu
Thank you StevenC for the review. We are delighted that you had amazing experience at our restaurant. Just to let you know, we are changing menu twice a week. Wednesday-Friday is traditional Polish food (and DUMPLINGS), weekend menu is also Polish food but richer taste. Do not hesitate to contact us for bookings via phone or email. PLATZKI
Small but interesting menu. Informative and cheerful staff. Value for money. Convenient location.
Needs an external sign. No toilets. Basic furniture. Could improve the heating.
Thank you TandJ for the review. We appreciate every opinion. Our professional and friendly staff is always taking care of our amazing customers. Because our restaurant is mentioned as a 'hidden gem in Manchester' we limited ourselves just to few signs and that's why it can be hard to find us. We apologise if it was chilly - charms of the old building. Thank you again for the review and hope to see you soon. PLATZKI
The restaurant is just fab 😊 the best food ever , traditional Polish food with a European twist... Service fantastic 👍 definitely will come back 👍
Thank you very much MajT for such an amazing review. It's a big complement for us. We are delighted to read such a nice words about our staff. We are doing our best to make everyone happy and satisfied while coming to our restaurant. Hope to see you soon again. Please feel free to contact us for bookings via phone or email. PLATZKI
A wonderful little authentic Polish restaurant in Manchester. If you are interested in trying some proper Polish cuisine coupled with some amazing vodka, I recommend you check this place out.
Great food, not cheap and a limited selection, but excellent quality
Food was amazing, pork was so tender and mashed potato was nicely creamy. The only thing we are concerned was a noise level because it was very noisy when we were having dinner.
Thank You so much for such a great review. We are glad You liked the food and we apologise for the noise. We were very busy that day making sure our fantastic customers enjoy being here. We hope it won't affect Your decision to visit us again.
Great food and very attentive service but having a table by the door which was regularly opened for toilet visits alongside general comings and goings was really unpleasant . The owners need to think this through and come up with an alternative and less disruptive solution for diners - review table layout maybe and risk losing 2 covers for the sake of a better experience?
The welcome on arrival was good, shown to our seat and given the food and drinks menu, the server returned after a few minutes to take the drinks order and explained the menu, all food is prepared within view of the customer and delivered promptly, the menu changes a couple of times a week and is limited to about 5 starters and 5 main courses, this ensures freshness and no microwave :) The starter was nicely presented and of a reasonable size, the mains were the same, they came with some salad, however vegetables were missing, I cannot remember if they could be ordered separately. I would recommend a visit and will be returning.
This was a bit of a mixed bag.
There is no signage so it's really difficult to tell where the restaurant is on the rather bleak parade.
Once inside , it's very pleasant with a shabby chic vibe, and the staff were very welcoming. The food was okay but nothing to write home about and it did not have a particularly Polish vibe - I spent quite some time working out there so think I know something of what to expect.
The black pudding balls were light and pleasant but under-seasoned. The best dish by far was the mackerel and beetroot - light, tasty and pretty. The duck with the carroty dumplings was edible but slightly overcooked and the dumplings were gluey - and there were too many for the dish. A few green veggies would have been a plan. The parrot fish was delicious but a trial to eat as it's a really bony fish. Much as I like a whole fish, this would have benefited from being filleted. The prices are pricey. Overall, we liked the experience but probably not enough to return.
I can strongly recommend this Polish
restaurant. The food was delicious and amazing atmosphere.
Delicious food served by friendly staff.
We'll be back.
Really enjoyed our first visit to Platzki. Will definitely be going again.
Great food and splendid, cosy atmosphere. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone, especially the often changing menu makes it a great place to come back to again and again :)
