One of South West London’s premier restaurants, the popular Retro Bistrot serves excellent French-style food in relaxed and stylish surroundings. Winner of the Good Food Guide London Restaurant of the Year 2012, and owner of two AA Red Rosettes, the Retro manages to deliver a sense of luxury in both food and ambiance at very affordable prices.

Key to its success is the blend of great food with a unique brand of personal service. Led by the inimitable and flamboyant Maitre D’, Frenchman Vincent Gerbeau, the team provide charming, attentive but discreet service. Head chef Francois fayd'herbe de Maudave, previously at Mon Plaisir, Park Lane and Grosvenor House hotel and The Savoy. Specialising in French-style cuisine Francois has also cooked for clients in Dubai, Madagascar, Australia, France and the exclusive ski resort of Courchevel.

Every last Tuesday of the month sees their regular Jazz Night featuring a range of top jazz artists.

We had a lovely time with delicious food, beautifully presented in an attractive setting. The staff were very polite, smiley and anxious to please. I was a little disappointed that despite having emailed well in advance we had to ask for the gluten free option (medical necessity) to be specially prepared as there was no gf option on the menu. Also the room was very cold but the restaurant had been closed for a few days over xmas apparently and took a while to warm up, though we arrived at 1 so it should have been warmer really although it did warm up after an hour or so.

ThIs is an amazing restaurant....The food and quality is always good and would say it is the best restaurant in Teddington!

I have been to this restaurant on many occasions and it always lives up to expectations with its excellent food and service, and Vincent's laugh of course......

I always enjoy dining at Retro. The food is always excellent and the service attentive. In a world full of bland chain eateries, Retro is a haven of French chic and fine dining at very reasonable prices.

Fantastic little restaurant and perfect for a romantic date. Airy rooms, but also cosy and quiet ideal for an intimate occasion. Food was delicious and just right for a special date. Gluten free choice was available, but it might help to offer a completely GF pudding and some GF oatcakes on hand to have with the cheese. However, in no way detracted from a lovely venue! The patron is welcoming and really friendly and the staff were great. Definitely going back there again! Nick and Kathryn

Lovely meal at Retro. We have been customers over a 10 year period and we've never had a bad experience whether it is a party, family meal or couple. Friendly and relaxed but attentive service, pretty presentation and great flavour. Portions not too bijou nor too enormous. Just great.

We had a fabulous Sunday lunch for my husband's 50th birthday. It's a beautiful, stylish restaurant, great for lunch or for an evening occasion. Service was really friendly and helpful and the food was magnificent. I particularly enjoyed the venison. My teenage vegetarian daughter really enjoyed her meal, and the waiter was very helpful in talking her through what was on her plate. Lovely wine, lovely desserts - can't wait to go back.

A very disappointing evening. The food left a lot to be desired. The portions were small and the presentation too elaborate. The roast turkey dinner with shredded vegetables and the meat piled high into a tower with a boiled potato. The fruit trifle was dry and was most unappetising We will not be going back.
