The food is always delicious here. The fish, pizzas, seafood tower and calamari are all fantastic. Our server always does an outstanding job, anticipates our needs and provides exceptional customer service. The Chef Bruce and the others all do an outstanding job.

Our server had little to no bedside manner. No greeting or introduction, just came and asked if we were ready. We weren’t, but once we were, we waited over 5 minutes until I made some eye contact for him to come over. When asked questions on options such as a la carte items since the tacos don’t come with sides, we were responded with short answers and just pointed to the menu. He didn’t really explain anything or have any knowledge. Maybe didn’t want to make the effort. Luckily, this was a business meal and I was not the payor. But overall, the waiter put a bad taste in my mouth for this restaurant. The food was good though. I got the pistachio snapper. Not a whole fan of the paleo theme and I prefer normal mashed potatoes. Also, please have better menus. I thought this restaurant was on the finer dining of restaurants, but was disappointed with laminated folding menus….

The tuna is soaked in seasoning and marinade. Not sure why they ruin a good fish or put a quail egg on an ahi tuna salad. They also drizzle and soy glaze and creamy wasabi paste all over the plate which is cheap in my opinion. A cleaner dish would’ve been nice.

Great restaurant for eating out. It will delight your taste buds. Many many wonderful selections even with dietary restrictions. Music comprises of popular remix songs, nice but can be loud. Outdoor seating is nice in the evening. More airflow would help. It got hotter an hour into the meal even with the sundown. Houston weather ugh It is a great place to eat. We have come repeatedly.

Had lunch with a friend during restaurant week. I highly recommend the Ruggles house salad, salmon and white chocolate bread pudding. Delicious! Also, only patio seating was available when I made reservations but the hostess found seating for us inside when we got there. Awesome! Great service and experience overall.

Excellent lunch with my best friends! The portion sizes on the Houston Restaurant Week menu are amazingly big. Our server was a gem too. The guys who delivered our food to the table did so with a smile. The valet guys were nice and respectful. One of the best lunch experiences I’ve had in a while.

We waited for an hour after our reservation and they still had no table for us. Took 15 minutes just to get a drink order. Extremely poorly managed and another 10 mins for someone to clear the glasses already in iur table. Will never return

Both food and service were great. The dessert portions for those in our group having the lemon cheesecake were skimpy for what we paid, but the bread pudding was excellent for portion and deliciousness! Several of us started with fried oysters which were really good. I had the branzino which was amazing. I would recommend this restaurant. You just have to be prepared to talk loud as it’s noisy, which seems to be the case with many Houston restaurants.

Went with a friend for Houston restaurant weeks. The food was delicious. We had the coconut shrimp, the branzino and the bread pudding. All recommendations from our waitress. The food was so good and very reasonable for the restaurant weeks menu. We also had the frozen sangria which was great! I would highly recommend a visit.

This was our first time at the new Riggles Black. We had eaten many times at the previous location (many years ago), and nice to know that Ruggles is still wonderful. The personnel, the atmosphere, and the bar were excellent. Most importantly, the food was superb as we remember. The goat cheese salad and white chocolate bread pudding continues to be our favorites. We will return.

Every bite of every item was outstanding. Rarely do I get such an excellent meal at any restaurant. The waiter was extremely attentive and seemed to show up at just the right time to fill our glasses, check our food, bring out the next dish, clean the table, etc. I tipped generously. I will come here again.

Ruggles Black's Décor is beautiful. I went for lunch during HRW and they offered 3 courses. My waiter was very attentive and friendly. The Grilled Brussel Sprouts were outstanding and so was the White Chocolate Bread Pudding...so very good! I will return!

Remembering some delicious meals in the 90's at the original Montrose location, we found Ruggles Black on the HRW list. And are we glad we did! First off, the portions were full size. Many of these menus are on the smaller side, but not here. But that is beside the point. Bruce Molzan has not lost his touch. My wife declared that this is new favorite restaurant! Starting with the brussels sprouts, a mound of tender sprouts sauteed together with almonds, pine nuts, citrus, honey/soy sauce and did I mention BACON? OMG the best I've ever had! Wife had the spring salad with Carrots, Parmesan Cheese, Cucumbers, Dried Cherries and Mango, Bacon, Cherry Tomatoes, and Sweet Chili Vinaigrette was crisp and refreshing, a perfect companion to the brussels sprouts when sharing. Entrees were the Indian Curried Salmon and Short Rib on pasta. Both were excellent. The only miss were the sides that were simple in nature, seeming like they weren't really invited to the party. However, don't let that put aside the fact that everything else was superb. Well worth their places on my dance card! Will be back!

We had never been to Ruggles Black before although it is in our neighborhood. We decided to try it for lunch during Houston Restaurant Weeks. The menu choices were very good. Everyone in our group had a different appetizer and enjoyed them. I had the curried butternut squash soup, which was excellent. For an entree, our members of our party had either the short rib pasta, the spinach chicken, or the Indian spiced salmon. Again everyone was very happy with their choice. We will be back to Ruggles Black again.
