Footsteps from the Ocean. Sam’s is a Family ran Restaurant Established by Sam and Emma in 1988

Built 162 years ago as an RNLI lifeboat station, Sam’s on the Beach was sympathetically restored in 2009 with help from local lifeboat volunteers- Sam was a RNLI crew member
While we may no longer save lives, we still rescue a few souls
At the heart of the restaurant is a custom-built wood-burning pizza oven serving artisan pizzas, exceptional fresh Cornish fish landed daily. Shellfish arrives straight from St Austell Bay, with lobsters, mussels, oysters and scallops in abundance
Watch the sunset over the ocean with an Aperol in hand & Café del Mar tunes — think the Cotton Club, Cornish Riviera style. An open kitchen showcases the Chef’s at work, while floor-to-ceiling windows bring the outside in year-round with exceptional sunset views
Tucked away at Polkerris Beach near Fowey, Sam’s on the Beach is the perfect escape, whatever the weather.

My wife and I had lunch at Sam’s on Tuesday. We chose to share the seafood platter and boy oh boy! What a dish of delights were laid before us; delicious grilled sardines, succulent prawn & calamari tempura, juicy scallops and simple THE best mussels I’ve ever eaten! Service was very friendly and efficient. Oh, and the view… well, ‘Sam’s on the Beach’ says it all.

Locals lunch menu is fantastic value. The Thai mussels were stunning and Id like to see them on the main menu all year round!

The menu options are excellent and the meals were fresh and full of flavour. The staff were very friendly and attentive, with the layout of the building with the views along with homage of it having been a lifeboat station added to a wonderful experience. Will definitely be coming back

Great meal as usual at Sam's. Thank you for giving us a lovely table overlooking the beach where we were treated to the sunset. Delicious mussels.

Gorgeous view, exceptional food, good service and vibe - huge portions - we couldn’t eat starters and main. 100% recommend for casual beach vibe with brilliant fish and seafood! Also good wine menu! Second visit and will return!

We had a fantastic evening at Sam’s last Saturday with our friends who had never visited before. They loved it. The choice of food was excellent and they love fish & Sea food. My only minor negative comment was that it was to warm, no air no windows open and it became stifling. We left quickly after our meal as it was just not comfortable.

What a great find, lovely little restaurant right on the beach! Small so def book, great seafood, friendly helpful staff with a great view. Little car park next door, chargeable unless you’re going to the pub next door, Very convenient. Would highly recommend!

We last visited in 2014 and came back last week on Friday 11th September as we had grown tired of the Rashleigh over the path. The difference in service and quality are outstanding. The ambience is better and the food is so much better. We are coming back again
