Sel Rrose is a New York City oyster bar specializing in craft cocktails. The name is a nod to Rrose Sélavy, the feminine alter ego of artist Marcel Duchamp. Duchamp's presence can also be seen in the decor inspired by early 20th century Paris. Industrial design elements pay tribute to his use of the readymade as an art object.

However, the bar is very much at home on its corner of Bowery and Delancey. Paying homage to the rich and lively history of the Bowery and its dance halls and oyster cellars, the atmosphere is convivial and warm. The cocktails are inspired by Duchamp's 1921 readymade perfume, Belle Haleine. The current menu features the revolving selection of the freshest oysters, french fare sourcing local ingredients, and a full raw bar.

We went to See Rrose on a Friday night. Everything started out great; really excellent service from the hostess and waiters. The drinks are good, and the food is fine. However the issues started when the hostess came over to us about 45 minutes from our 7:30 reservation time to tell us she had our table booked for a party coming at 9pm, she wouldn't be able to hold our table for much longer past that. We continued with our meal, meanwhile the hostess continued to come over to us to start asking us to leave because of the 9pm reservation... She also started trying to get another couple (who came in after we did) seated next to us to leave as well. Finally at 9, the hostess just drops the check off without us asking for it, and we still had unfinished drinks on the table. For a place that is so pricey, I honestly didn't appreciate being treated like that.

A great spot for happy hour, cocktails, or even later for dinner. Oysters are DELICIOUS. They are not $1 during happy hour as advertised online, but they are still discounted and better in quality and selection than the average oyster happy hour. Cocktails are very good, and I love that they have a wide selection of orange wine. Worth trying to make a reservation if you're able - often busy, even earlier in the night. Can't wait to go back!

Had a great date with my wife. Happy hour oysters and drinks were outstanding. Highly recommend!

Great oyster happy hour. Friendly waiters and a fun vibe. Definitely would go again but make sure to book as gets busy.

The place was extremely noisy. We were five but we were given only one napkin. The food was extremely expensive for the amount and quality. The five of us traveled all over the world and cannot help to compare quality-amount-price. I wouldn’t recommend it. The waiter was nice and polite.

Was too noisy for a dinner plus despite a very rainy and cold weather, the door was always open so we couldn’t sit on our table for so long and had to leave the dinner early
