   We had teppanyaki for a party of 6. The cook top was not properly cleaned from its previous use when we sat down at our assigned seats. There were leftover sauce drippings on the iron edges of the grill. The Japanese are famed for cleanliness and the condition of the stainless steel cook top was distinctly unJapanese. It made me feel unsure about the hygiene standards of the restaurant.

   Lovely food and service, can be loud atmosphere then chefs are clanging and banging for entertainment so come prepared for noise lol can be more pricey than you expect. Overall a great experience though!

   We have been to Shogun before in the past but this time was the most upsetting experience, we took the kids with us and they were looking forward to the live cooking. Our chef was very quiet hardly engaged, he looked tired and worn out, wasn’t communicating or making it exciting for the kids. Literally just cooked and gave us out our food. The other chefs seemed so much more jolly and letting the kids join in and making jokes. For what we paid nearly £200 it was not worth it at all. We got moved from our table to be given a dessert as they had been running behind. Our dessert didn’t come out for 45 mins. I feel the place needs updating, it looks tired and needs cleaning up. The toilets also need to be sorted again very dirty no up keep.

   Food & entertainment value was exceptional. The restaurant is well manned but lacks a little atmosphere. Maybe too neutral a decor.

    Was seated quickly, had a special set menu which my boyfriend and I had one each and loved every bit of it! Cooked in front of us and the chef was friendly and funny. Was asked for drinks regularly and enjoyed being in the restaurant with others around the table.

    So much fun! Really tasty food and great entertainment from the highly skilled chef. Also fun to get to know the other diners on our table too. Really recommend the Pear martinis too - delicious! Wish I lived near Birmingham so I could go again!

    Fantastic venue for a small group, we visited for a friend's birthday and the experience did not dissapoint, food was cooked well, Fantastic value for money and our chef was very engaging, highly recommend for a group of friends or family

    My absolute favourite restaurant! Fantastic food and great entertainment. It’s not the cheapest but they’re decent portion sizes and the food quality is well worth the money spent. Highly recommended!

    Very good loved the set menu as it was my first time coming. Waiters were all nice and energetic and environment was very energetic and friendly. It was a good place to practise my chopsticks skills also. Would recommend anyone comes here.

    The service is slow very slow, we also were moved to the side due when we'd sat down middle left. But then other couples came and just sat where we were... The food is great not quite as big a show as you'd get from one in the states but very fun. They add in a 10% tip regardless which was a bit of a kick in the face considering it took almost 39 mins for them to ask about drinks and over an hour before the food started. Overall I'd say it's a nice place but they seriously need to work on their service. (Save the chef who was great).

    The idea of it is good but they haven’t got it right. We got moved about 3 times before we was able to order and get a drink. Then they made us wait 30 mins for another party to turn up before they would start cooking our main. Waiter wasn’t polite and were more bothered about another party. Didn’t make the effort with us and the chef who eventually cooked our meal wasn’t as entertaining as the other ones and didn’t give us the full experience of it all. Won’t be going back

    Quality and tasty food, prepared in an entertaining and cultured Japanese style. Roaring flames, banging utensils and sizzling meals all combined for a fantastic night. Would 100% return, I even caught the egg.

    We went for Father’s day with young children. The entertainment they provide during the cooking was brilliant, even got hubby up cracking the egg…. moat definitely will visit again as the food and staff were brilliant especially our Chef John and host Ryan xxx
