Three generations of the Frank family found new inspiration in England’s growing gastropub movement.
In 2009, they refurbished, restyled and re-opened the traditional British pub at Five Crowns as Corona del Mar’s first and only English-style gastropub, SideDoor.

SideDoor is a separate operation within Five Crowns. Enter on Poppy Street under the big red key and find a comfortable and convivial atmosphere. Cozy up to one of the charming fireplaces. The focus at SideDoor is on seasonal small plates portioned for sharing, cheese and charcuterie prepared by a chef on duty at the new charcuterie station and a selection of world-class spirits. A wide range of wines and craft beers in a variety of sizes and pours are constantly updated with new offerings for the curious to explore. With its warm, relaxed atmosphere, SideDoor, the casual neighborhood gastropub, will have its guests returning again and again.

SideDoor with Santa. Ticketed Event from 2-4pm Skip the long line at the mall and take your own holiday photo with Santa beside a warm fire in one of the coziest settings of our historic building. Each ticket is for one Child to see Santa, includes Hot Chocolate, a Holiday cookie and a glass of bubbly for one adult. SideDoor will be open with a limited menu available for those who wish to dine while visiting Jolly Old Saint Nick! **Please bring your own camera or cell phone for pictures. We love the ambience here and always great service - from the entryway greeting to the Wait staff to the bartenders. The prime rib sandwich is to die for. Also love the truffle fries. We come to the side door frequently and really love it. They could have more creative drinks on happy hour and more seasonal desserts.

Our favorite local CDM spot! The service here is excellent consistently! Damien and Michelle were our servers over the past couple of weeks and I have to comment on how warm, knowledgeable and personable they both were when assisting us! They went above and beyond to ensure we had a fabulous meal. I didn’t catch all of the bartenders names but they are fantastic too! Great job Side Door are training your staff to make your clients feel welcomed warmly and served excellently!!

We came for my wife's birthday and throughly enjoyed the entire experience. The table location, the ambience, the service and the food were all excellent. Our server Lark was just the right amount of helpful and friendly!
