From the team behind LUCA and The Common Stove, Simcoe Tavern is a cozy bistro in the heart of downtown Orillia. Just minutes walk from the marina and the Opera House, we are also conveniently located for dinner before shows at Casino Rama and Burl's Creek.

Open for Dinner Tuesday to Saturday and for Lunch on Friday and Saturday, try the Crème Brûlée, Lobster Mac & Cheese, the Duck Confit and the Tavern Club Sandwich. The cocktail list is a selection of carefully-made classics crafted with great spirits and freshly-squeezed juices. The wine list comprises 25 bottles under $75, offering great value.

Join us on Wednesday for half-price oysters, on the third Thursday each month for the legendary Wine Club and on Monday for the Blue Plate Special.

    Perfect upscale tavern-style restaurant w/ bar and dining table seating. Food and beverage menus are eclectic and interesting. Food was amazing!

    The revamped restaurant looks great. Food was excellent and the service was terrific. Great new menu and still offer some of the old Picnic classic dishes. Look forward to many more visits. Highly recommended.

    This is my second time here so I can confidently say it’s my new down town favourite. The menu is good, the service is terrific, the wine selection by the glass could be better but what I had I enjoyed. My only negative comment is that they serve the raw oysters on a plate with no ice. That is just weird. I’ve never in all my years of eating oysters all over the world had them served not on ice. When I requested they be put on ice they did it so I still give them high marks but that should just be how they are served.

    Four of us each had entirely different starters and mains - each one delicious. Wine was good as always, service friendly, professional and efficient. We will be back.

    The overall experience was okay. First impression was the it was a trendy location. Small dining area giving the feel of exclusivity. This did create quite a loud environment, so a bit difficult to have conversation without yelling. The service was good. My wife and I both ordered the beef short rib with oysters to start. The oysters were quite smaller than we’re used to, but it was half price day at least. The presentation and flavours of the short rib were really good; however my wife’s rib was 60% inedible fat. Mine had more meat on it. That was somewhat disappointing. Service was super quick and it didn’t feel like we had anytime to sit down and enjoy a nice slow dinner. All was said and done under 45 minutes. Overall an okay experience.
