STK - NYC - Midtown
It was my boyfriends bday and I wanted to take him to this location. As expected the vibe, the service, the hostesses everything was amazing and on point.... such a good first experience
This was a business lunch, four people. I can only speak of my food; we did not discuss each other's dish. I had the warm chicken sandwich. It was probably the worst sandwich I have ever had. It was over-battered, parts of the batter were raw, which made the sandwich soggy. I had to take the chicken off the bread, cut away all the excess batter (which filled 1/3 my plate), and eat the chicken in pieces. It was embarrassing to have to traverse this type of meal in front of a CEO & CFO and I was still hungry when the meeting broke up. It is doubtful I will ever return.
My fiancé and I went to STK to celebrate her 25th birthday and we walked out with our hearts and stomachs full! Food and service were impeccable. Obviously, this is a steakhouse so you’re going to end up paying steakhouse prices, but it’s so worth it. We especially loved the variety of different apps and sides. We will be back!
A bit too loud, but great food and service.
The restaurant is very nice and clean.
Lousy service. Multiple people sat down and got there food and we waited an hour an a half for our starter. Then another 45 minutes for main course. Worst service I have ever had at an STK restaurant. We barely got an apology. I guess they flew our food in from Las Vegas location. Even drinks were slow. Not sure what was happening.
Made us wait over an hour before getting our table even with a reservation
Way overpriced for the quality of food and service. There are literally 100 better places to get a steak for less money and better overall experience.
Have a great dinner. Server was excellent
Came to STK for a team dinner. The food was great, the music was a little loud so hard to hear each other. Overall very good
Steak was delicious, service was okay, a bit slow on the evening that I was there. Music was extremely loud, but still would come back and overall would highly recommend.
Always a pleasure having dinner at STK. The food is fantastic. They know how to cook a steak to the temperature you request. The sides are great. Our waiter was perfect - attentive but not pushy and very friendly. Our favorite steak house in NYC.
Steaks were cooked perfectly. The sides were delicious! But very very noisy after work and party crowd. DJ played good music but it was still hard to hold a conversation.
Made another reservation already to bring Terry Grace since you are next to her family's office building, Grace! Loved this place!
Good was good. DJ was awesome. Service excellent
Good food and service - pricey. A bit loud.
horrible winter Chicken salad..it came out in 5 min after ordering and tasted as if it was heated up in a microwave
Great service and delicious food! Hopefully next time I come they’ll have the ingredients for a pornstar martini though!
Food was outstanding. Very accommodating. Really don’t have a bad thing to say. Would definitely return.
Overrated in terms of food quality and hospitality service. We payed 1300$ and felt like we were at cheese cake factory on a Tuesday night. The ambiance was the best part, but that does not make up for the lack of quality the restaurant needs.
Very overpriced for food that isn’t that good and unclear menus
We had a great time celebrating a birthday here. Excellent service and seating. Our waiter and hosts checked on us regularly. When the wine requested was not in stock, the waiter allowed us to try different varieties he recommended before I selected a different option. The space is beautiful and the music loud enough to enjoy and still have conversation. The Bone-in filet was great and my partner enjoyed the ribeye with Alaskan king crab. Overall we had a great experience and would consider recommending to friends.
Whenever I travel into NYC this is usually the place to go to. I am actually very disappointed because I had raved about how amazing STK Midtown was to my sister and the food was below average, very below average that night. We had drinks at the bar before we sat and cleared our tab then but still got charged for them again on our final bill. It was just a hot mess, the steak was not up to par, our sides were very oily. Usually the steak is cooked to perfection, It was a sad experience. I really preferred this location over my home town Toronto's but after this I don't think I'd ever go back to either period.
We picked STK because they had the time slot I wanted and it was close to the show we were seeing. I knew the expense of an NYC steak place so I wasn't shocked by the prices. What I was shocked by was the lack of taste in the food. Filet mignon was subpar at best, cooked correctly at med rare but no flavor, just bland. My flat iron steak was no better than a cheap cut at the supermarket, not at all what I expected from STK. I've been to places that wowed me, this wasn't it. In our rush to get to the show, and the fact the food wasn't gross, we just paid our 250 and took off. I've never complained at a restaurant, but as we talked about it later in the evening it was the low point of the night unfortunately, and I wish I had. Looking back, I wish I had gone to Del Friscos or even an Outback!! Stay away from STK
Food was absolutely amazing. Staff was great. Music was great. It was my girlfriend’s birthday and everyone knew it was her birthday from the hostess down to our waiter and everyone wished her a happy birthday. Definitely will come back to try the other amazing food options on your menu.
The food and service were fantastic. I have been to the Chicago location for business and was interested in visiting the NYC location for pleasure. My only issue was that we arrived 15 minutes early and we were not seated and told we could go to the bar until our table was ready. The bar was packed and there wasn't anywhere to sit. I would say about 30% of the tables were empty. When we were sat, they took us to a table that had been empty from the time we arrived. It just felt a little staged to push bar sales. We would have bought drinks either way but it gave a perception of bar sales being more important than the comfort of the guest. Maybe, offering when the table is available to sit at the bar or allowing the client to go directly to their table seems more about making the guest comfortable versus pushing sales.
Early dinner with a friend...Great space, trying a little too hard to be on the “hip cool and current side”. That said foof and most staff exceptionally good. Only negative interactions was with bar- although busy, not overwhelmed, but not looking to get orders. Will try again at a later date since much more positive than negative
This place was ...kinda overhyped. I’m disappointed cause the place is really aesthetically pleasing but the food didn’t live up to my expectations. Could just use more....flavor. The tuna tartare was perfection though.
I made a reservation at STK - NYC - Midtown because it's near the theater district and I received 1000 points for the visit. I wasn't necessarily expecting an amazing experience but the interior architecture and decor were impressive, the service was attentive, and the food was exceptional!
Disappointing. Was with my parents for a 5 pm dinner reservation (we had theater tickets for a 7 pm show). Started ok. But then it became too much of a “scene”. Music continued to increase in volume that it was impossible to hear ourselves talk. I’ve eaten at STK’s at other locations before and never experienced this (except perhaps in Vegas, which was ok, as that is what is expected). As for the food: Three people all ordered the 6 oz filet, all requested “medium”. Two of the three came out raw. I’d say even medium rare would have been an overstatement. One person was ok eating as is, but the other needed it slightly more cooked (he didn’t want purple on the inside....pink was fine). Took awhile to get the waitress’ attention (we finally flagged down another waitress and asked her to send over our waitress). She was very apologetic and took it away. Problem was, the rest of us were completely finished by the time it came back. It just took way too long and we were all certain that it would have come back as well done. When it finally came back, it was medium, so we don’t know why it took SO long. I had the salmon special, which was just ok (I guess that’s what I deserve for ordering seafood at a steakhouse).
Overall, just ok. Hated the loud music. Perhaps if I were with a group of friends for drinks and dinner, it would have been different. This was different. I was with my husband and parents, as a gift to them (parents) to see a good show and dinner. Then to get mediocre food and service, I will pause before coming back to this location again.
Took my family of 4 to dinner at STK last night. The hostess, servers and all of the front of the house staff were exceptional. Exactly what you would expect at a restaurant of this caliber. The total bill including a 20% tip was $545. Not unexpected at an upscale midtown establishment, comparable to similar places.
The food overall was good except for one item. We ordered a large Tomahawk Steak ($145) to share and asked for it medium-well (what can I say, that's how we like it). It arrived nicely presented and already sliced. Unfortunately it was barely medium-rare. I apologetically asked the sever to please take the steak back and remedy the situation and she was wonderful. She agreed that it was way underdone at took it back immediately.
A little while later the exact same steak was returned to the table. Each of the slices had been re-cooked. It was definitely medium-well now. If the steak had been cooked properly the first time, allowed to rest, then sliced we would have received the $145 dish that we expected. Instead the meat was extremely dry and the outside was charred until it was bitter. A medium-well steak can still be juicy and flavorful if prepared properly.
We did not complain again and we ate what we received. My expectation was that another steak would have been prepared. I gladly paid the $545, I would never shortchange the hard working servers for the kitchen's shortcoming. My complaint is with the kitchen and possibly those in management who give them direction. Throwing an already sliced piece of meat back on the grill clearly saved the establishment a few bucks but the product that was ultimately served was far below reasonable expectations of such an upscale venue.
Went for lunch, overall good. Salad starter (I think hearts of palm?) was basically a bunch of lettuce with a few things on it - disappointing and boring. Everything else was good, works for a business lunch.
Our favourite restaurant in New York, absolutely love STK, service food drinks atmosphere all amazing! Would recommend it to anyone looking for amazing food, the best steak I’ve ever tasted! Thank you for making my birthday a special one.
Everything is perfect except the noise level
Steak was fair and very expensive
No comparison to excellent steakhouses like Peter Lugers or Wolfgangs
Best anniversary ever, such a beautiful restaurant and atmosphere, the food n service was amazing
Arrived early and was sat 30 mins later . The restaurant wasn’t over crowded . Then asked if we could be sat in the carpet area and was told no .
We showed up 10 minutes before our reservation and still waited 40 minutes after our table, service was poor, food was good tho
Very good service and quality of food although slightly overpriced in my opinion
We were seated in the back of the restaurant, in a separate room which detracted from the overall experience. The ambiance and appeal were missed.
I enjoyed my steak but my husband and friend did not. My husband asked bartender if she could make him a specific drink, she did her version of it, but charged him $25 for that drink. It should not have cost over $15-18 at the most! Didn't like how quickly the wait staff took our food away when we weren't finished eating it.
