   Although we had a reservation, the hostess attempted to seat us in a back room in the corner; the worst table in the restaurant. She was less than gracious when we asked for a different table. The food wasn't hot when served and part of the order was missing. The prices were exorbitant (coffee $5.00 per cup) and undermined any value. The only positive benefit was our waitress Christina who was very sweet and pleasant.

   Excellent staff, great bar drinks, broadly appealing menu. As with most current restaurant design, it is noisy. The back room is not attractive, but can be slightly quieter. Outside dining space is nice.

   Wonderful experience! Can’t wait to go back. We started with a Caesar salad, that we split. For entrees I had mussels from the appetizer menu and my husband had shrimp and grits. All delicious!

   Slow service especially handling the bill. More importantly: wine advertised on in-store board as "50% off" so we ordered a $66 bottle (which was very good). When the bill surprised us, were told the half off only applied to bottles under $60. Waiter was no help (and obviously never notified us -- he actually pleaded that we "should have asked about the specials") and then the head guy said it was the GM's rule that he could not change. After a little more complaining, he gave us a "general discount" that essentially gave us the $33 reduction.

    The food was fresh, tasty, interesting, with complex combinations of flavors. Definitely something I couldn't duplicate at home. Yum! Go! Our server was delightful, with just the right amount of attention to our needs.

    The food at Tandem is spectacular! Presentation is gorgeous and every single bite is to be savored. Ambience is sort of farm-to-table urban chic. Lots of wood, exposed beams, ductwork, etc. I loved it! That said, there is really nothing to absorb sound and there are lots of tables, so on the very busy Friday night when I was there, it was rather loud. The service is good. Our server was very friendly, knew the menu well, and did a good job. That said, one of my pet peeves is being given the check at the end of the meal and then having to wait a long time for the server to pick it up and cash it out. The restaurant had significantly emptied out by the time we asked for our check and we received it promptly, but then it took a very long time and we finally had to flag the server down to come cash it out. That was the only negative of the evening. Everything else was amazing and I will definitely go back!

    This is my favorite restaurant ever. The beet and Brussels salad was outstanding as was everything else. We eat here whenever we visit Chapel Hill.

    Menu was excellent. We loved our cocktails and each bite. The mussels were delicious. I had the salmon entree which was fantastic. Highly recommend!

    This was our first time at Tandem. We went for our Valentine’s Day lunch. We were surprised at how noisy it was. We were looking forward to a quiet, sweet, lunchtime together. The food was good but the service felt rushed. Most of all, I was very surprised and taken aback by the server coming and asking me for my card to pay the bill without showing me the bill itself. He just had a machine and took my card, and I had no idea what the total was going to be. That is not acceptable. I was so shocked that I just gave him my card and paid the tip. But I will think twice about going again.

    Host staff was questionable I had reservations for 4 people. I get there and there are quite a few tables that haven’t been cleared. Host staff stated they were backed up. Waited 20 minutes to be taken to a table for 2. Was told my reservation was for 2, and had to show my reservation was for 4 to then be pointed to a table in the bar area. After we were seated the bartender asked if we had just sat down or if we had been seated there. After explaining the above situation, he was very polite and served us in a kind manner. Food was common cafe food, nothing that was mind boggling, and portions were fair. Definitely not a value, overpriced and overrated.

    Lovely food with amazing service. The atmosphere was very nice, and made for a lovely dinner. The only negative was some strange rules about specials available at the bar but not available at a table 3 feet away. Otherwise, a great experience.

    Great vibe and awesome server. Wine selection was eclectic- so ok. Nice to try out new wines. Salad was so fresh and amazing. The meal choice was tough - nothing really jumped out at us, so we ordered the burger - it was ok but nothing to write home about. Fries were good. Great vibe but won’t be back for the food

    This was probably the best meal we’ve had in Chapel Hill (been here since 2020). We ordered 4 small plates/apps - cheese board, beets and brussels, shrimp and pork belly, and lamb skewers. All were delicious, so flavorful and ingredients were very fresh. And we finished with dessert - a chocolate lava cake with coffee ice cream that was the warmest, gooiest chocolate and coffee ice cream was the perfect compliment. My husband and I wondered why we don’t eat at Tandem more often?? Well we will now!

    Shrimp and grits great. Deviled eggs great but husbands ribeye not a great cut, under-seasoned and side bland. Maybe just an off night for steak, but if a supplier issue, i would fix it.

    I always enjoy this restaurant but find the dishes are somewhat hit or miss with me. I had lamb one time that was superb, but more recently I had baked cod with a lobster-based sauce that sounded amazing but tasted only good. It needed a touch of pepper, maybe? We had mussels and lentil fritters as appetizers and those were delicious. Regardless, the service has always been excellent and I do happily recommend Tandem.

    Took advantage of the Oyster and Martini specials at the bar. The food was amazing, as were the drinks. Service was slow, and we were ignored for awhile, but the server seemed to be overwhelmed if not completely new. We will definitely be back, though.
