   Lovely old pub with traditional excellent quality food. Our mistake was to have starters then have the award winning meat pie. Oh dear too much food, simply great.🤣 Felt very welcome. Thank you. Would recommend.

   We went to The Fleece for Mothers Day, as we have been to eat several times, and not been disappointed. This time was no exception. 4 excellent carverys, beautifully cooked meat and vegetables, and lovely, homemade puddings. Another bonus was that we could bring our dog, and him be well looked after. All added to a great experience. Will be back again very soon!

    National Trust pub steeped in history, simply furnished, great atmosphere. Wonderful award winning pies, we had the Beef and Guinness with fresh veg and hand cut chips or mash. Big portions. Homemade Crumble also good. Choice of real ales (and no-alcohol versions), Pigs Ear was very smooth and went down well. We went on the third Wednesday of the month so there was Celtic Folk Music playing in the barn which we thoroughly enjoyed- a jamming session rather than a performance. We will be back for the Folk Night on a Thursday evening and no doubt have more pie and ale! Nice staff too.

    The Pies were very well received - so much better than other pubs, and proper pies as well. Highly recommend The Fleece - you won't regret it.

    Delicious roast Sunday lunch in an unbelievably atmospheric and characterful old inn. The beer (Wye Valley) was also very good. Staff were friendly, efficient and very welcoming. We will definitely be returning very soon.

    Food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent, however, the experience was somewhat spoiled by a very smokey fire and we had to ask to be moved to another table, once away from the smoke we had a really enjoyable lunch.

    Food was good but the service let the place down. Went to the bar ourselves for drinks as seemed to serve others but not us! Had to ask for the bread with the starter, for knives and forks and even then had to ask again as only brought one set. No offer of any condiments. Gave up at that point asking!! Lovely little pub with great open fires but did feel that we were kind of very on top of others. I guess the owners want to maximise covers but did feel a bit cramped. Glad we went but probably won’t rush back.

    High quality, delicious food. The pizzas are among the best I’ve eaten. The rest of the menu is great too - even the mashed potatoes are a cut above the ordinary and taste divine. There are plenty of options for vegans, vegetarians and those who can’t eat gluten. And the atmosphere is second to none.

    Exquisite medieval pub, run as a real pub by skilled, kind people. Lovely open fire. Superb selection of beers and ciders. Serious venison casserole. Perfect.

    Love the Fleece. Great atmosphere. One comment - if you put GFA (Gluten-free alternative) on a menu, please put on a Gluten Free alternative....just removing a Yorkshire pudding, and stuffing from the Sunday roasts isn't cooking a GF alternative, it's simply depriving those who are GF of good alternative options. The plate looked measly and the price was still the same - which is disappointing for a place like The Fleece.

    Lovely food, haddock was large, excellent crispy batter. Sole cooked in a beautiful butter sauce. Quick service. Friendly staff. Lovely ambience, Saturday night so it was obviously busy. All in all great value. Would definitely go back and the dog loved it too.

    My daughter and I had a wonderful visit with lunch by the gorgeous open fire in the inglenook. The Fleece is everything a country pub should be, unspoiled, dog-friendly, full of character, relaxed ambience,good food, excellent service, and really impressive range of alcohol-free beers! With so many historic pubs closing, it’s reassuring to find the Fleece is still thriving! Long may this last!
