   By far the best food I’ve had in a very long times, they even went to the effort of putting a ballon and card on the table for our friend who was 40. Really great place to visit and would certainly go back again.

   Overall the food is really good. Unfortunately, we were sat upstairs and there were 2 table of 15 males who were extremely noisy. Ideally they should sit couples differently to large groups as we sat in silence most of the time as we literally couldn't hear each other speak.

   Me and my girlfriend ordered the king fillet steaks, absolutely gorgeous and the staff were super lovely. Will definitely be going back in the future.

   Service was excellent , steaks are amazing but the starters are criminally overpriced. The knives are blunt which I totally understand with cutting steaks on the cooking stones but they need sharpening daily. Overall a very special meal thank you. Graham Dale.

    This unique restaurant is superb for getting value and quality. The meals are very tasty with a choice to suit everyone’s needs. Would highly recommend this steak house for a great experience.

    All of us had steak on the lava stone, we all loved it! The stone element made it more of an experience than just a normal meal and it was a wonderful night.

    We went for my friend’s birthday having been before and enjoyed it, we were sat downstairs which I’ve never been before (always been upstairs) it was cold and draughty and dident seem very clean . The steak wasn’t the best and to be honest don’t think we shall be going again!!

    I would have scored the service a 5 as the girls were great it’s just understaffed. Our main course was a 5 but the piri piri prawns were in a dry spice sauce and the spices hadn’t been cooked off. Great places just needs some tweaks.

    Booked 4 weeks in advance. Requested up stairs dining and when we arrived staff were very friendly and polite and they took us straight upstairs as requested. Room was not overly crowded and service was prompt. Drinks ordered straight away and arrived within minutes. Food ordered with our server and everything was explained about the cooking process. Came again within 10 minutes . Presented well and the streaks were beautifully tender. We will definitely be returning and recommending the forge to family and friends.

    I will start by saying that the food was amazing however I had some issues that made me decide to never return to this restaurant. 1. reservation for 19:15, starters arrived at 20:15 and mains at 21:20.Extremelly long wait. 2. The smoke on the first floor was ridiculous (I do understand people are cooking as they eat) but I am sure some extraction fans should be in place. Once we mentioned it to the waitress she opened the windows and we had to eat with winter coats on. 3. The table for sticky and frankly speaking quite dirty. 4. The table service was bad, with mixed orders and also incomplete. We waited for the drinks to be right almost 30 minutes. As I said, really good food but everything else really put me off .It's a real shame .

    We and my partner went for a Valentine’s Day meal. We booked online and had never visited before so we wasn’t aware of the concept of your meal being served on a black rock and essentially cooking your food to your liking. It was a great experience especially if you haven’t done it before like us. The food was really good and such good value for money! The waitress was busy and it took about 30 minutes to get our bill but we understand and aren’t the kind of people to not return for a minor thing like that. We will definitely be going again for another special occasion I am sure! Thank you!

    A return visit , was not disappointed, food excellent as usual, still yet able to finish the food as portions are generous. Service was brilliant, very attentive ( but not oppressive). Certainly value for money.

    Great steaks again Had to chase the bill a couple of times and struggled to leave when we would have liked, which is odd for a place that emails a time limit to you when you book a table. Apart from that service was fine.

    Let me start by saying the steak was amazing and we all enjoyed our food. However the service wasn’t great, half the staff looked fed up. The restaurant was full of smoke from the hot stones & steak so we left smelling of our food. The noise level was on par with a nightclub and the starter prices were ridiculous, £14 for 6 pieces of fish was not value for money. A disappointing visit

    An amazing nice ! Service was good but there were many groups in so food was slower to come than normal but food was exceptional so didn’t mind the wait. All staff warm, welcoming and happy. Noise was a bit loud but wasn’t the restaurants fault, there was noisy groups in but was only occasionally. Couldn’t fault the food ! Thank you for a lovely night. Manager Sammie has been working with us for the last 2 months to get us in because I have been in hospital. She has gone above and beyond to make it an evening to remember. Ty Sammie :)

    Waitresses were obviously rushed off their feet with the 15 customers (it wasn’t busy at all!) and anything took a long time to happen. 20 minutes for a drink, over an hour for food and considering you cook it yourself I can’t understand why. Although a nice idea, it can get extremely smokey and our clothes always smell afterwards so I wouldn’t recommend having a meal before meeting guests. On the night we went, Derby seemed to be trialling a No-Heating night where every pub we went into decided not to have any heating on. When it’s minus 2 outside, and hardly any people in the restaurant, it would be prudent to think your guests might be cold. Everyone we say had hats or coats on and it really ruined the experience.

    Food was excellent, that is about all that was redeeming. We were first to be seated upstairs, as soon as you walked in to the room you could see your breath it was that cold. We were sat at a 6 person table with a radiator behind us, which did not work. There were two space heaters, I asked if one could be used as it was next to an empty table, I was told it could be but would be taken off us once the table was being used. As if that table needed it more than ours. It became apparent the heating was not working, we were wearing our coats for the whole 2 hours we were there (except when eating the main course) as the stones warmed us temporarily. The food was the only redeeming thing about our first experience at the Forge. Other guests were vocal about the temperature of the room, and every single guest that entered commented on it (we were sat near the entrance). I suspect either myself or members of my party will be returning. If asked would I recommend the Forge, I would recommend the food, but most definitely not sitting upstairs.

    Booked this for New Year’s Eve and have been here before. Service was quick friendly and efficient. The restaurant could really do with some form of air conditioning to take away the fumes from the steaks cooking on the hot stones as it’s becomes a bit overpowering However the food was lovely and fresh and we did enjoy it but did suggest adding cheese and biscuits to the desssert menu.
